Default Disney ImageMovers 'Christmas Carol'

Sneak peek at Cannes film festival

Cannes gets first look at 'Christmas Carol'

Digital Spy
Disney is to debut footage from Jim Carrey's A Christmas Carol at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

The first look at Robert Zemeckis's 3-D motion capture adaptation of Charles Dickens's classic tale will be shown on May 18 on the Croisette, the studio has announced. Director Zemeckis, stars Carrey and Colin Firth and producers Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke will be on hand to present the footage.

In the new version of Dickens's story, Carrey takes on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. Firth will star as Scrooge's nephew Fred, while Gary Oldman plays Jacob Marley, Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim.

A Christmas Carol will be released in IMAX 3-D and conventional cinemas on November 6, 2009.

Arrow Promo clip

Sorry for the double post, but a promo clip is now up on Trailer Addict. It's from the very same scene, and features Gary Oldman as Jacob Marley and Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge.

I have to say that of all Dickens stories, this one is by far my favorite. The movie looks great! Good cast too. Thanks for the links Ez!

Arrow More linkage

Alain Littaye has posted some illustrations of Jim Carrey's Ebenezer at four different ages, as well as the three spirits. Disney and More

Also there's a Cannes press conference video at MovieSet. There have been alot of terrible adaptions of this story, mainly because Ebenezer Scrooge is portrayed as a "loveable curmudgeon", making his journey and transformation pointlessly obvious. The character has to have absolute certainty of his convictions, so that the spirits have great difficulty illustrating their wrongness. Otherwise it's just a "dumb show". So I was glad to here Jim Carrey talk about connecting with the "bitterness" of Ebenezer.
