I'm curious... the article doesn't provide any more details about Disney bidding, and I haven't seen a mention made anywhere else... has it been confirmed anywhere else that Disney wants to put in a bid, or is the article mentioning it more as a hypothetical possibility?

That being said, as a zookeeper with a marine mammal bent who works for Disney, I wouldn't mind seeing SeaWorld become a part of the company.

I'm at a loss for words. Not only does this mean that InBev is selling SeaWorld, but all the other Busch parks as well. The best thing that could happen to the Busch parks is if they are all sold to Merlin, being their trademark park Alton Towers is doing really well with them, from what I've heard better than when Tussauds was running it.

As for Disney taking SeaWorld Orlando, I'm a little uneasy. Yes, I've always wanted a DisneySea in the states (the theming in SeaWorld is up there now, and if Disney were to come in...HOLY CRAP!), and putting a volcano with Journey to the Center of the Earth in the middle of the park's lagoon would make me drool, but the invasion of Disney and Pixar characters coming next to Shamu irritates me a little.

Am I the only one that likes this idea. I mean yea it would be weird but something tells me Disney wouldn't change anything. It would just be owned by Disney. Idk guys I think this is a good idea IMO.

Personally, I'd rather see Merlin buy the A-B parks than Disney. I'm fine with having 6 Disney owned theme parks in the USA, especially with the growing trends of overprocessing, extreme excel-powered management, etc. No one here really knows Merlin because Alton Towers is a UK park, but from what I've seen of that park, it's really something. I'd like to give the A-B parks a chance to become that level of amazing via a different entertainment company that would be new to us here in the USA. Think of the competitive improvements that would need to be made by Disney and the others in response to Merlin should Merlin bring the A-B parks up to Alton Towers' level.

I actually see this as a nothing gained, nothing lost situation. If we get Seaworld, cool. If not, cool, we still gots our kingdoms.

Actually, I quite admire Disney for wanting to buy SeaWorld. It would be nice to see SeaWorld become better than it already is. With Disney there, overall park attendence will sky rocket simply because of the Disney name. And with Disney there, the park will be much more themeatic (don't know if I spelled that correctly). However, I do not wish that Disney would over-infuse Mickey with Shamu, it just wouldn't seem right. Maybe some characters here and there, but let's not go overboard and theme the existing rides to Disney characters or movies.

And another question, would they just be bidding on SeaWorld, or Busch Gardens and the new "DubaiWorld", or Worlds of Discovery as well?

I kind of like this idea.

Granted, I wouldn't want Sea World to be all Disney-fied but a few characters here or there would be cool. Plus, Disney has very high standards for maintaining and cleaning their parks. Personally, I have always found Sea World to be very clean and well maintained and I would be happy to see it sold to a company who shares their views on being clean. At least we know Disney is committed to taking good care of their animals, so that shouldn't be a problem. Besides, it would be a source of increased revenue for Disney. And as we all know, Disney loves money.

The Dubai parks are privately owned with trademark license agreements, similar to how Tokyo Disney is owned/run.

Actually, I think it's closer to Typhoon Lagoon meets DCA (the actual swimming/water park area at the Texas location is themed like that).

My thoughts exactly. It's possible that this could go very well, or horribly horribly wrong. Was Journey to the Center of the Earth a Disney (or affiliate like Walden) thing?

Oh, they'd end up changing a few things here and there upon taking control, but you're right. They're not stupid enough to change EVERYTHING all at once... they'll do it gradually. when some of the rides are in need of refurb/replacement... they'll think of adding a new attraction, and if it happens to pull on the fanbase for one of more of the oceanic stories, it's a perk. And I'm sure they'll still keep the Shamu shows... they just might be a little more interesting now, like the dolphin show they did with the Enya music some years ago.

If Disney buys Sea World I can just picture a diver Mickey riding a top Shamu. If they bought it would they get San Diego's too?

^That Depends. If In-bev is selling each park separately then that could be a no. It depends on how they are selling them. They might sell on the Busch Gardens together, and the three Sea Worlds together. I honestly don't know how they're working it out.

One thing I don't like about SeaWorld is that there aren't many rides. Just a simulator and some sort of roller coaster (one in California, two in Florida, and two (i think) in Texas). I hope all Disney does is add a few E-ticket attractions.

Disney's Animal Kingdom proves that Disney would be an excellent caretaker of SeaWorld.
