Actually, if you think about it, Disney does own Touchstone Pictures, so , while it is not actually produced by Walt Disney Pictures, it is in a sense a Disney film.

Cool Touchstone is 100% Disney product

Not metaphoricaly, literally. Touchstone Pictures isn't a seprarate company or a subsidiary: It's an in-house division of Walt Disney Pictures. Here's the story...

In 1979 Disney began producing movies with more adult-specific themes that garnered PG ratings. Public response was fairly negative, not because the films weren't good, but just because they were considered innapropriate for Disney. So Disney created a new division, Touchstone Pictures, so that it could produce saucy R-rated comedies like Down and Out in Beverly Hills and Ruthless People. Disney also created Hollywood Pictures, so it could create more serious films like The Joy Luck Club and The Sixth Sense.

Even though these brands have their own indentity, the products are in-house productions by Disney. You could say that the films released under Walt Disney Pictures are Disney's "front house" products and the ones from Touchstone Pictures and Hollywood Pictures are it's "back house" products.

Disney also owns Miramax, but Miramax is a distributor and financer for indepentently produced films, Miramax products are not in-house Disney films. Disney purchases these films at film festivals and relases them through Miramax.
