Question When does the drop-off in attendance occur?

Hi, all!

Well, I am holding true to going to Disneyland every year...

I am wondering, when does the big dropoff in attendance happen?

Would it be a good idea to go the last week of August? I was thinking of going from August 31st to September 3rd.

I have to go before September 5th, because Haunted Mansion is closing on Sept. 5th for the Haunted Mansion Holiday setup.

Again, the question is, are the kids back in school before August 31st? And if so, does this cause a sudden dropoff in attendance?

Thanks.

Hans

Last week of August is pretty good. Most of the schools start last week of august (K-12), unless it's one of those track things. Also, private and semester system colleges start toward the end of august as well.

The weather is still hot, but it's not nearly as bad as July.

I always go on my birthday the last weekend of September and the weekend is every bit as crowded as a summer weekend but the weekdays are considerably less crowded. The weekday attendance drops first, then by mid October the weekend crowd follows I personally don't like to go to the park from June through the end of September with the exception of Star Wars Day because it's just too hot out especially this summer

2 words for you on those dates:

expect big crowds as that is the last weekend of summer
before the K-12 schools start up.

Hans-
Went 2 years ago during the time frame you are suggesting. During the week before the labor day weekend it was pretty nice - crowd wise. However once that weekend hit it was very crowded. The weather can get warm ( in fact that Sunday it set an area record- lucky us - something like 105 or something) So you might want to think about maybe going during the week and avoiding the weekend all together. I'm sure someone can attest to the crowds during the week. As far as the weather - its a 107 here today so the SoCal Heat usually isn't a big issue for us. HTH!

Ps I understand about Haunted Mansion - I have a 5 year old that is dying to go (no pun intended ) and the last 2 times we have been there it has been closed..so we have to go when its open....or a revolt may ensue!
