Question When is the 50th Over?

I am really really hoping to make it there before it's over. I thought the end date was in November, like the 17th or something. I was thinking it is 18 months long and it started in May, was it the 5th? Anybody know?

Nice to see this gorgeous site in its new incarnation:-)

November! wow. But wouldn't that be its 51st then? anyway i can't wait till its over it won't be as crowded. Sure the park looks pretty nice with all the gold, but ya know its getting a little boring.

Disney is a getting a crack load of cash from the 50th, They are just doing a celebration for the money. But its fun.

It already feels like that the 50th seems forever.

Cool crowd control

It's not just for the money. There are several good reasons why the celebrations is so long.

One is that Disneyland is quite small, and if the announcements didn't keep telling us it's an 18 month celebration everyone on earth would all try to crowd in at once. They want everyone who would like to enjoy the celebration to do so without any park closures. That's also why they advertised WDW so much, to nudge people in that direction to celebrate The Disneyland Concept.

Another reason is that it takes so much time and hard work to create these entertainments that they're nearly always used for at least two seasons, longer if they're really popular
.

I think Disney has learned the hard way that just doing anything "for the money" doesn't work. I read somewhere that even though they expected bigger crowds for the 50th, the crowds have been much larger than they predicted. I think that's because they really tried to bring the park up to Walt's standards and to add some special things to bring back the magic.

It's worked for me!

Thanks. I've looked all over the site but it doesn't say anything about when it ends exactly.

I guess the way I worded the topic it is making people who have been there a lot want to express how they're over it but I'm just hoping to get there before it's over:-) What a great place *sigh* :-)

Not at all, Princess! I've been there more this year than in any other year and don't ever want the 50th to end. I hope you do make it because it's been a very special time.

THE DISNEYLAND 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ENDS SEPTEMBER 30, 2006

I rang them this morning. If I take the last few days off school, I can just make it! Ha, all this time I've been wanting to go back, it will be the last minute time!

I copied this from page 3 of this Al Lutz article on MiceAge: 4/18: Al Lutz. I think they're specifically doing Halloween this year as a good reason to take down the 50th celebration things...

Boo to You (Finally!)

About the same time DCA's entry area goes under the Placemaking knife and Mickey's Halloween Treat returns (ad below), Disneyland itself will be celebrating its first Halloween in, well, years! September will be focused on getting the first year of the Disneyland Half-Marathon successfully up and running, but then it will quickly change to finally ditching the 50th and installing Halloween in late September. After ignoring the autumn holiday and launching right into Christmas for the last decade, with the low point coming in 1999 when the Main Street Christmas Tree appeared on Halloween day to howls of protest, TDA has decided it's time to follow the lead of every other Magic Kingdom park around the world and celebrate Halloween again.

The plans for Disneyland's own Halloween celebration aren't nearly as comprehensive as what they do in Paris or Tokyo, with parades and custom decorations all over the parks, and it's ironic that the country that invented the modern version of the holiday doesn't seem to celebrate it as much as the overseas parks. But Disneyland does plan to deck out Main Street and Frontierland in modest Halloween d?cor, and Steve Davison and the entertainment group is even pushing for a spooky Halloween fireworks show to be created and performed on October weekends. This will all help mark the official end of the 50th, as all of the current decorations are removed and replaced with Halloween stuff, or replaced by simply nothing at all as Disneyland returns to its normal pre-goldenized state. And it will also mark the return of Halloween to Disneyland, which should be nice to see.

I LUV the 50th celebration,I do not feel like they did it just for the money(of course some dollar thinking was involved.).I really felt at home when I came into the park May 5th,2005.I hope you have fun,one tip is to get a tour with fireworks veiwing(I luv the fireworks.)the veiw was really good when I took it,but I forgot what the tour was called.Does anyone know if the fireworks are staying, and the parade?I really LUV LUV LUV both.

I am glad they had it last this long. It gives more people a chance to see it and be a part of it all.
