Unhappy Tell me if I'm out of line... Please!

Okay, so again my fellow VF members I need some advice. And if I put this in the wrong sections, please mods feel free to move it and correct me.

Ok, well, I have been planning a Disneyland trip since my husband and I got back from our honeymoon. We have been planning to go this weekend, driving down to Anaheim Saturday 8/26, staying at a hotel that I work for that night, then going to DL on Sunday 8/27, and driving back that night. We planned this to take my daughter, because she has been wanting to go, and to take my siblings who havent been to the park in a while, and are really excited to go. Well, you'll never believe what happened. My husband got laid off on friday from his job. After planning this one day trip for months, and now we dont know if we should go. Im going to really upset my sisters if we dont go, and its kind of important to them.
Well, we have been saving a little bit of money to go, and my paycheck before we go is mainly what we were going to go on. But I dont know if this would be irresponsble for us. Nathan has already gotten another job, his first day is Friday, but he has the weekend off. All of his paperwork just has to clear by then, and he will find out before Friday if it is a for sure deal.
Ok well here are my list of Pros:
* I promised my sisters I would take them, and it will be a lot of fun.
* My daughter reeealllyy wants to go.
* I work for a hotel company, and my room down there is only $35.00 at the Clarion Anaheim Resort.
* Gas would cost me $40.00 there and back.
* My sisters are paying for there own way, and we as AP's get in for free, and my daughter is free.
* Food- we will eat cheap, and bring snacks, waters, sodas, ect. into the park.
* To escape the reality of the world for one day, and have a well deserved fun day in the park with my family.

Okay, now the cons
* We have bills
* My husband might not have a job
* Money- even though we wont spend much, we still dont have a lot to begin with.

Ok, now with that, what would you guys do? I really just want to escape reality for just one day, and enjoy the place I love and be happy and not have a care in the world for just ONE day, and I really want to go with my family. Disneyland is my escape, and I really just want to relax. It's not like it is a vacation, it's just one day. I really want to go, but I dont know if that is irresponsible of me and my husband.
Please give me any imput, I really need some advice right now from people that have the same passion for DL as I do. What would you do? Has anyone been in this predicament?

Thanks everyone, I really nedeed to vent, please let me know what you guys think. All imput would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, except I have an Annual Pass. Disneyland is really worth it, and it is always relaxing to not have to worry about anything for one day! One trip to DL won't be the end of your cash supplement, so it really wouldn't hurt. You are getting a REALLY good deal for a hotel room, and if you don't go to DL often, it's ddefenitely worth it. Money is a BIG problem these days, and DL has become increasingly expensive...but seeing all the FREE in your post, I wouldn't worry about much. I'm really sorry about your husband... the only thing I would worry about would be the fact you're going on a Sunday, because the park is usually VERY crowded during the weekend. But if your daughter doesn't care about the number of the rides she gets on, it shouldn't matter! If you go, be sure to have a great time! Give my apologies to your husband!

Go and have a great time. You will be sooo glad that you did. Just make sure to pack lots of water and snacks. My sister just took her 5 kids (they aren't annual passholders and from Sacramento). Eventhough she knows money will be a little tight, she is so glad she did it. I know she would do it again in a heartbeat, and so would I. I hope everything with your husband's job gets cleared up by friday.

When I cancelled my trip due to loosing my job and having to spend my vaction money, I felt totally defeated. Heartbroken. Don't do that to yourself - GO.

I found a way to do a less expensive trip, and it's made a world of difference to my attitude about life. - GO.

usually when someone comes to me about these kind of problems, i tell them to list the pros & cons. seeing you have already done that, & noticing that the pro list is much longer than the cons, i think you should definitely go. actually, it might not be that crowded because school is starting soon. but if it is, fastpasses & time management will do the trick. you`ll regret it if you don`t go. everyone needs a little break once in a while ;D have a fun, safe, & carefree day with your family & make it count !

I say go too. Since the pros far outweigh the cons and your husband already found a new job I say hey why not? It'll be fun and who knows when you'll be able to do it again

We were in the same situation once and we just went to Disneyland anyway. I was scared, and I did feel irresponsible for going when we couldn't really afford it, but we went anyway and had a great time! Everything turned out okay once we got home (it always does, doesn't it?) and now I look at the pictures from that trip and they are such precious memories and I am SO GLAD we went! Ezra's right.....you will feel defeated if you don't go, and think about this--now that your husband will have a new job, when will he be able to get time off again to go? I say go to Disneyland, have a great time, and deal with the rest of it when you get home.

Along with everyone else, I would say go. Besides the park tickets, your other major expense is going to be food. I know it would be allot easier to buy food there, but you can save cash if you make sandwiches, put them in the lockers outside the park and have a little picnic in the designated picnic area.

As for the rides, make sure you get to the park EARLY like at 7:30 AM. The lines will just be forming. Go and get a fastpass for all that you can (Which might only be a couple) and do as many rides as you can in the morning. Once the fastpass times have passed, get more fastpasses. But SAVE them for the afternoon or evening when the lines for the attractions will be huge. I'd get in a line thats 30 minutes, but use the fastpass if it's over 45 or 60 minutes.

Snacks are great things to bring. We alway take a backpack with carrots, trail mix, Chex Mix, things like that. There's free water (city water) at most food places in little clear cups. But if you plan accordingly, you'll have a great time. Don't let this hold you back from one of the places that cleans your heart and mind of the world's problems.

it's funny, ive been in similar situations before and it always seems to work out fine...i think if i were u i'd just go and not worry about too much...whats one more expense right? and since your going with family thats ALWAYS worth it in my book! my philosphy always is life is too short and we can only live once so i say go...plus you'll probably feel even worse if u don't go so I say go, throw caution to the wind and just have a great time!!!

Oh my gosh I am soo happy that people actually understand what Im going through! You guys have made me feel soo much better about all this. I know I want to go, but Im afraid that ill feel bad about it when I get home, though I do think that I will feel worse if I dont go at all. We just have to see if my husband works over the weekend at his new job, which I dont think he does. But Im pretty sure that we are going to go, as long as everything goes well. Thank you soo much eveyone for making me feel better. I still have my concerns, but I am soo happy that you guys understand what Im going through. I love you advice and words of wisdom. Thank you!

I agree with cavemandon 110% -- bring lunches and snacks (to save money) (and also bottled water!!!) but enjoy the Disneyland experience! You can do it up right, even on little money. Besides, if you don't go, you'll be sad at what you're missing. Yes, it's a lot of money, but you can be wise in your spending and still have a WONDERFUL time

You are quite welcome, Wendy.

And yes, bringing snacks is always the best way to go. The food is WAY too expensive at the Happiest place On Earth! It should be nicknamed: The Most Expensive Place On Earth! hehe

hehe Yeah I soo agree!

And Guess What??

I changed our hotel reservations to a place at $25.00 a night for me instead of $35.00,at a Quality Inn and suites in Anaheim and we are definately going! Yay! Im soo excited!
We just went shopping and bought lots of snacks, water, soda's, and everything! Also once we get down there, we plan on going to the store and buying some food for sandwiches and bring them into the park and stuff. And a big reason why we are going is because it is not a black out day for our AP's, and our daughter is free! Yay I am soo excited, and just to let you guys know, it was you guys that made me feel good about going, and I appreciate all your help! Also, what was really weird was this... Do you guys remember the pirate in NOS that would give you a fortune card, kinda like shruken ned in adventureland? Well, they have this thing online and you click him, and an original fortune card pop up appears. Mine said, pretty much without the pirate words, that money is tight, but have no fear, you will find happiness within the corners of New Orleans Square, located in the happiest place on earth. I FREAKED OUT! Then I had my husband do it, and his was said even if there is stress, and money is low, have no fear, let go and have fun, and come to Disneyland. Isn't that weird???? What are the odds???Hahahaha thats when we really decided that of course, we were going! How funny huh?
Thanks everyone I really do appreciate all your help making me feel better, and helping me make the right decision. So, will anyone eles be at the park on Sunday?? Hehe.
