The IRS website - irs.gov - has a bunch of information and answers to questions regarding this stimulus package - Letters start going out tomorrow telling you what your refund is - A couple of the questions I have seen mentioned here are listed below - these are taken DIRECTLY from the IRS website -

Q. Is my stimulus payment taxable?

A. No. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 federal income tax return. But you should keep a copy of the IRS letter you receive later this year listing the amount of your payment. In the event you do not qualify for the full amount this year but you do next year, you will need to have the letter as a record of the amount you previously received.

Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?

A. No, the stimulus payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.

We are also using this for our trip to Disneyland. How much you get depends on your tax liability. Its not a set amount, just in case that wasn't all ready clarified.
Those that are planning on paying off debt/save, you have to remember what the money is actually for. The economy. Yes, I could pay off debt with ours, but that's not what the money was intended for, for us to see this plan even work, we would need to invest it in the economy. That's why I feel no guilt going to Disneyland. Just a thought! :)

Talking Will they? You betcha!

Steven Mallas at Blogging Stocks has an article now speculating on whether people will use their rebates for Disney trips.

Will consumers use their tax rebates to fund a trip to Disney World?

Uh, yeah, they will.

Thumbs down Ticket to ride

I already got my rebate payment,
so I just now bought my plane tickets to SNA.
I have to set the rest aside for hotel room and AP renewal.

We got our stimulus payment last week and decided to book a package trip to that same night! Woo-hoo! We'll be there September 14-18, and I can't wait.

As soon I heard about the rebates, my DH & I planned on this trip! We'll probably never see these rebates again!
