Default October 10th

So I was supposed to visit friends at Disney World this weekend...but since I like to wait until the last minute to do anything, flight prices are now astronomical. So my brother and I have decided to go to DLR on Friday the 10th. I've made more trips than should ever be allowed to DLR since I moved to AZ from CA....and I have had little trouble finding somewhere close to the resort to stay in the past. But so far in this quest to find a room in walking distance of the resort, I have been unfortunate in my attempts. I have looked across all scales...from economy, moderate and deluxe hotels...and I am having little luck finding somewhere close. So I'm wondering if anyone knows why this weekend...particularly Friday, is (from what I can see) projected to be so busy? I know some schools have October breaks and whatnot, but besides that, it just seems like an off weekend for such big crowds. Are the Halloween parties starting or something? Or is it something completely obvious, and I'm just missing the boat? I know the park's being rented out in a few weeks....but i doubt that's relevant to anything.

Any ideas?

I will be there the same day. there is a Gamer convention that weeked. Since it's at the convention center, everything near Disneyland is booked. We ended up at the Motel 6 a couple miles away, and I'm not too thrilled about it. I hope the park won't be too busy... most of the gamers will stay at their convention I would think.

ah, makes perfect sense. I go to NAMM every January at the ACC, and that is one of the hardest times to find a room out of peak season. I was actually looking at that Motel 6...but i couldn't force myself to book the room lol (although the Anaheim Maingate Motel 6 is fairly decent), and I wanted to be in walking distance of the resort. So I ended up booking at the Best Western Mini Suites on Harbor....I'll be close but I sure am spending a bit more than usual for a spontaneous trip.

I am with you in hoping that the gamers will stay away (no offense gamers). My brother and I are getting to DLR bright and early to hopefully be first on Space Mountain (hopefully no EMH?)...we're already mapping strategy, we wouldn't want any gamer's to deter that from happening. Thanks for the info.

Have a fun and safe trip.

Yeah, last time we stayed at Marriott and being across the street was totally worth the price. This time though we have the issue of our dogs... we're not sure yet if they are going or not, and if they are, we have to be somewhere "pet friendly" sigh. I hate having to drive.... I'm so spoiled haha. You have fun too!!
