Late august vacation

We have decided on alternative dates, since Fantasmic and Splash mountain was closed on our 1st vacation dates in may!!! Is august a good time to visit Disneyland, due to crowds and weather??? (we have 12-16 and 19-23 as prospective dates) Also, are rates for hotel, tickets and other stuff cheaper during this time of year??? Any suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
One last thing,is Fantasmic back open during the month of august, could someone give me an idea of park hours for both theme parks (entertainment,parades) so we can plan accordingly!!!

Last year I went on Aug. 15th & 16th. A friend of mine goes every summer and told me that August has lighter crowds compared to June or July. It was busy but very comfortable, it didn't feel too crowded. The parks was still on summer hours, with nightly fireworks on weeknights and two Fantasmic performances a night. I can't verify exactly what the hours will be this year because Disneyland.com's calendar page only only goes to June at this time, but August's park hours should be similar to July's, with DL open until 11pm or Midnight, and DCA open until 9pm

We have been to Disneyland during the last week of August--but before the Labor Day weekend--and the crowds were not bad at all. The park stayed open until midnight, the weather was beautiful, fireworks were a nightly occurence and no rides were down for refurbishment! It was a great time to go!

I went in August last year, and had a great time! Nice weather, a little crowded, but not too bad, and the parks were open summer hours (opening early, closing late). In fact, the only reason I'm not going in August again this year is that I'm going to the VF scavenger hunt in September, and I can't afford 2 trips so close together. I think you'll have a terrific time!
