Talking Jan or May?

I am going to Disneyland next year for a couple of days. I have to go while I'm not in school (college) so I have to go either in mid Jan or after May 9th. Since I'm only going to be there for two days I want to get done as much as possible. So I'm wondering how the crowds are at those times? I've only been there in Late March and and Early June. I'm wondering if any of you have been there are at those times and know how the park is at that time. Also I'm worred about Haunted Mansion being closed for the referbishing. Does anybody know when the usual time of year they close that for the holiday thing to be taken down? Thank you so much for any help thanks!

I've done both. Mid-Jan is fine if you stay away from the MLK holiday. Check the Disneyland site to confirm about HM - I think HMH runs until January 31, then closes for a while to return to HM. I went May 10 this year and it was marvelous. Light crowds (not dead, though), nice weather.

I usually go in May - and I LOVE it then !!! Most Southern California kids are still in school, So if you go during the week the crowds are really light. The weather is usually nice - not as hot as it will get in the summer, but still warm enough for t-shirts and sandals. Have Fun!!!
