Default Disneyland to Vegas?

Hello everyone! IM planning a trip to Disneyland in early December and was wondering if anyone has ever driven from DLand to Vegas? We're a group of seven people (we have a van) and none of us have been to Vegas. We could only stay for a day, so would you reccomend it? Is it a fun drive? How long will it take to drive? What are some things we should see? Thanks for any help!

Well not Disneyland but I just got back from a trip where we drove from L.A. to Vegas and it's about a 5 hour drive. Not bad at all. I would suggest leaving early in the morning and leaving late at night since Vegas never sleeps lol. The drive itself is really boring because it's mostly desert but you can keep yourselves entertained. I would suggest walking through as many of the resorts as you can. If you're staying late see the free Siren/Pirate show at Treasure Island. Wear comfortable shoes as it doesn't make any sense to drive and you'll be walking a lot. Everything is expensive so keep that in mind. And the Tropicana has a pretty good magic show for 20 bucks a person if you want to do that. Other than that just walk through the major hotels and you should be good. Have fun!

It is a decent drive (speed limit is 70), but a few recommendations concerning the I-15 between Ontario and Las Vegas.
  • Extraordinarily heavy traffic on the I-15 usually from the Cajon Pass (hwy 138 jct) to I-10
    • Morning Rush Hour: Going Southbound (from Vegas direction)
    • Afternoon Rush Hour: Going Northbound (to Vegas direction)
Also, northbound side really clogs up when it merges with the I-215 before entering the pass. The Cajon pass has an unusual topography due the San Andreas fault zone & erosion from former rivers
  • Avoid any distractions that can keep your focus away from the road when driving. This interstate is heavily traveled and has a notorious record for major accidents. Plus be aware of the Highway Patrol and speed traps.
  • A huge outlet shopping center is located just south of Barstow, Lenwood exit 178. A good mid-way point to stop if needed.
  • A tourist trap attraction in Baker, Supposedly its the world's largest thermometer.
