Smile Cheap, close to DLR hotel

My daughter and her boyfriend are planning a trip to Disneyland this summer, after high school graduation. The problem is they will not have a rental car, so they need to be able to walk to Disneyland. Any suggestions on hotels I could recommend to them that are just a short walk to Disneyland? Thanks!

Try the Anaheim Fairfield Inn by Marriot. It is pretty affordable compared to the DL Resort Hotels (two-night packages starting from $268), up to five people per room, and is right across the street from Disneyland. It's also the hotel I stayed at during my 2005 vacation, and the view is pretty good from the balconey.

We have stayed at the Tropicana, Candy Cane Inn, and the Howard Johnson.
All were reasonable and right across the street.
There is a good page with a map,

http://www.a2z-anaheim-hotels.com/maps.htm

also

http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/D...ndLinkMap.html

I use both when planning my trips.

I stayed at the Howard Johnson Hotel Across from the Park when I was at Disneyland for the 50th Anniversery on the 17th-20th. It was a nice hotel fairly cheap compared to the other hotels. Very close to the park. I would recommend it. If you get a Disney Theme Park View you can watch the Fireworks that are launched from behind the park during Remember Dreams Come True but you are unable to see really inside of the hotel becuase Disney has put huge trees up around there property to keep you from looking in. It is really cool to watch the fireoworks just a little loud. KABOOOM LOL

The night when I watched the fireworks show from our balconey, the booming was so loud that some of the car's alarms went off in the nearby parking lot.

i stayed at the Staybridge. They are cheaper then the DLR hotels but a little more then the candy cane in. All rooms have dvd players, free hot breakfast eggs bacon, bagels, pancakes, cearal, all the good stuff included with the room. and a biggie FREE self serve laundry. Anyway it is about a half a mile away from the park but the hotel sells the ART passes at a discount. ART is wonderful, besides you don't have to wait a while for the cross walk thingies.
and they also have dinner, they usually do BBQ with hotdogs, Burgurs, soda, beer (for thoose above the age of 21) and wine (again for thoose age of 21) And its included with the room that way you don't have to spend too much on dinner at DL

Have stayed at the Ramada Inn Maingate and the Castle inn and suites. Both were average/nice and had fantastic rates, plus close walking distance to the parks. I would stay at both again. Hope this helps

I'll just throw these out there again, but I was honestly pleased with both. Although it doesn't really take much to please me -

Carousel Inn and Suites isn't bad and it is right across the street from the main gate. No need for Shuttle service - it's really close, right across the street on Harbor (as above) and about 10' to your left (coming from the park). They also have a pretty good continental breakfast, and it's also close to McDonalds and a little convienience store (a little over priced though).

Ramada Inn Main Gate Saga isn't bad either. The continental breakfast isn't good, but The hotel itself was clean and quiet with a large pool (although you might not do much swimming in March) and a little snack shop on the premises. It's also pretty close and there would be no need for the shuttle. I think it was something like 1 or 2 blocks away. There is a Tony Roma's right next door also.

We stay at The Park Vue Inn or the Hoilday Inn Express. Both are right across from the park.

Super Motel 8 Disneyland Drive, the best! So close to the Disneyland resort, next to Disneyland, not DCA. Only a 5 minute walk to the parking lot, the gates were open for guest to wlalk. The parking lot has the Trams walkway and your already there! I enjoyed walking over to Disneyland with my mom and friends.

I want to thank everybody for your very helpful suggestions. I appreciate you all taking the time to post here. I have emailed all of these tips to my daughter and she is busy sifting through everything to find the hotel that will work best for them. You sure saved her a lot of leg work, and I mean that literally as well as figuratively =)

The Holiday Inn is pretty nice. That and they can watch the fireworks from the hotel if they stay on a night when they show the fireworks. I think I paid about $65 with a AAA discount and this was January 30th. Overall nice night and it's right on the corner of the employee entrance to Disneyland. A short walk south will take them right to the park.
