I stayed there in March 2004. It was pretty good. I stayed there with my choir though so I was sharing my room with 3 other girls but they were very tolerant of my group. If you have ever stayed at a Best Western recently, than they're all pretty much the same. Not the best but not the worst. As far as off-property hotels I highly recommend the Fairfield Inn Anaheim. It was by far my favorite place to stay and the pool is awesome. It has a great view of the fireworks from inside the pool.

Have any of you stayed in the Clarion Hotel its located next to the convention centre. all your replies are very much asppreciated
We stayed at the Clarion earlier this month, and it wasn't worth it. Because of our group size we got a suite, but it wasn't much. Just a basic room, only a little larger enough to fit a couch/sofa bed and table. The bathrooms are tiny and only include a tub and toilet (the sink was just outside the room). The phones were on the dresser next to the TV instead of next to the beds. The AC system was poor. It's about 2-3 blocks from the parks but they're very long blocks, so when you're tired, it's best to take ART. You have to walk to the Marriot next door or the Hilton across the street to catch it. Normally its close but with recent construction you have to walk out of your way to get there (that may change when you go though). Overall, it's ok if all you want to do is sleep and shower, but I wouldn't stay there again. Not enough perks for the price.

We always stay at the Candy Cane Inn when we don't stay at a resort park. The rooms are pleasing to the eye, the walk is very tolerable (although they have a shuttle that services just the CCI), and a very worth-staying-there continental breakfast! Breakfast and a decent room for under $100 a night? A steal compared to Resort Hotels!

My family and I have had good experiences at a few of the off property hotels.

Firstly, we have always had a good stay at the Best Western Park Place Inn. It is located right at the stoplight across the street from Disneyland on Harbor Blvd. We always get the mini-suite which has a couch (which folds out into a bed) and 2 queen beds. Every room has a microwave and refrigerator. The staff has always been pleasant and attentive to our needs.

Before that, we used to stay at the Anabella Hotel which is just across Katella, next door to the convention center. It is a newer property and the rooms and staff are great. We just got tired of walking that much further with 2 children.

Lastly, we did try the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites. What a dump! We got the family suite that holds 10. First off, they only gave us 1 parking space. Their response was that the rules are 1 parking space per room. We explained that with 8 people, we needed 2 parking spaces. After getting into a heated discussion with the manager, we got our second space. But, the rooms are old and have not been refurbished in years. I don't recommend this property, nor its staff.

In the future, we will stay at the Park Place Inn because we feel it is the best "bang for the buck". We would love to stay at a Disney property, but the cost is not worth it for our family. We are never in the room during the day anyway! We need a nice place to sleep and clean up and for my family it is the Best Western Park Place Inn.

Good luck!

THE PARK VUE INN

We stay at a hotel right across the street from Disneyland, The Park Vue Inn. IHOP is in their parking lot. It is a 5 min walk from our room to the turnstiles at Disneyland. This is always our hotel of choice and it just so happens that you can drop off an Avis car rental there. So we rent the car for one day so we can stop off at the store because we always get bottled water and snacks for our room. They have refrigerators and microwaves at The Park Vue Inn. Then when we checked in we drove the car back to our room, unloaded and as we walked to Disneyland, we dropped off the car keys at the front desk, and Avis comes and picks it up. SO easy!! Then take the shuttle back to the airport so we get dropped off at the curb and we didn't need to return a car.

The Par Vue Inn is remodeling the property and the rooms are beautiful. They have 2 room family suites and a pool, laundry, free continental breakfast, and the staff is always wonderful!! They are on the web. Check them out.

Another vote for Park Vue Inn! Actually, I'll be staying there for 3 nights starting this Friday! You can't beat the location like Jen-ness said, it's right across the street from the main gate! Great place to stay!

Thumbs down Another Kudo for Park Vue

We stayed at the Park Vue twice last year and both times they did not disappoint. Staff was helpfull and the rooms were clean and well suited for our family of four. The second time we got two connecting rooms when we went with the Grandparents and it was just as good as the first time. The walk back to the park is quick and we were back in our rooms faster than our friends who were at the Paradise Pier hotel, and we payed a third of the price. For a family travelling on a budget, and all you plan to do is sleep in your room with an occasional meal, the Park Vue is hard to beat.

Park Vue. I'll be there in December. I have read more positive reviews about this place than any other hotel around. Sure there are some bad, but by far the majority seem to be good.

I've stayed at many other hotels around DLR, some are a little better than others but none of them have been better than "ok".

I have been the shuttle route many times. Can't wait to just walk across the street.

We stayed at the Carousel Inn & Suites this past weekend. They are doing some construction so it was a little loud and they may have been short on some parking spaces, but we really enjoyed it. I found a rate for it right around $100 per night. The rooms very decorated very nicely. The bathrooms have the toilet and tub behind a door, and the normal vanity area. However, the vanity area is behind a sliding door, which makes three seperate areas for changing clothes or anything if you need it - very nice. I liked that the refrigerator and microwave (standard in every room) were in a large armoire with the TV - it made the room look more classy. And very comfy beds! They ahve a gorgeous breakfast room with round windows that look strait into the park - its a nice view. Apparently they also have a rooftop pool, though we didn't see it. It is about 7 minutes to walk to the turnstiles from the fron door.

This hotel definitely gets a vote of confidence from me!

Default Anaheim Plaza Inn and Suites

Stayed at this location for vacation with friends from October 6th 2006 - October 9th 2006.

This motel is exactly as you would expect a motel for $60 a night that is close to the park to be. But keep in mind it is a MOTEL, and not a HOTEL.

Had room in the 700 Building. No Balcony/patio.

Stayed in a "Family Suite" which is really nothing more than two (2) rooms with a connecting door.

One room came with a refrigerator and mircowave. The other room did not have either. However, it is my understanding that those can be requested. Both refrig and micro were very clean and worked really well.

The rooms were both nicely clean.

Both rooms had color TV sets. Plenty of channels to choose from. (For those who need a tv on to sleep .. I know you are out there!! LOL )

Beds were comfy. Both rooms had two (2) double size beds.

Air conditioning units could be loud if turned up all the way. But worked very well at keeping the room cool/cold. (i'm partial to a cold room for sleep)

Hot water in showers was fine, pressure a little low, but not a problem. Shower nozzle a bit low for me (I'm 6' and I think the nozzle are at 5'6")

Hot water to the sinks did take a bit of time to warm up, but were fine once the hot water got there.

Staff was friendly.

Check in was listed at 3:00 PM, but was able to check in when we got there at 2:00PM.

Walk to the gates at the park - Approx 7 minutes.

I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for somewhere close, clean and not very expensive. Just remember, this is a MOTEL not a HOTEL. And I would say this is maybe a two and a half star place at that. Those who expect the services they would get in a HOTEL, probably would not be happy. Those who are aware they are booking at a MOTEL, will be happy with the quality of service and cleanliness.

If we can't afford Grand Californian, Cavemandon and I stay at Park View Inn & Suites. We really like it. The last time we were there they had done renovations and the room we usually get, now has a Jacuzzi bath tub in it. One of these days we are going to try out Disneyland hotel. Has anyone stay there and what do you think?

I stayed at the DL Hotel for Christmas once. The rooms are nice and it feels good to know you are there, but my first choice is the Park Vue Inn. It is much more convenient than the DL Hotel.
