The rooms are nice and big. They run about $30 more than the surrounding properties. I have stayed a couple doors down at Park Vue Inn. Pretty standard MOTEL room, very clean but no decor and small. It was cheaper and I didn't enjoy it as much, but saved money. For this coming May, I have made a reservation at the Desert Inn. The other Westfesters are staying there so I thought I would book where everyone else is staying. I will review that later on when I get back. I looked into the rates at Best Western and they were about $30 more.

we stay at the Islander Inn and Suites every time.. its a short walk but the beds are comfortable, it's quiet, clean room, and the bathrooms are clean [this is a very big issue of mine haha], its affordable and the staff are friendly and helpful.

My DH & I stayed at the Fairfield last year, but we're staying at the BW Park Place Inn because it's a little closer. Any opinions on Park Place?

I just got back from the Scavenger Hunt (AWESOME fun, BTW) and stayed at Howard Johnson's. Got a room for $89 a night. I would definitely recommend Ho Jo's for anyone looking for a moderately-priced hotel in the area. I've heard that the rooms on the side of the hotel closest to the freeway can be noisy, but I didn't get one of those. I was in building #1 on the 1st floor. It was VERY clean, and perfectly quiet -- no noise from the hallway or from the other rooms. The room had a TV and wi-fi, a small refrigerator and a coffee-maker. It is a VERY short walk to the parks (across the street and down a little) and it's also right on the ART line if you wish. Plus, there are several places nearby to eat, (McDonalds, IHOP, Coldstone ice cream, to name a few) if you're trying to save a little by not eating every meal in the parks.

I stayed at the motel 6 maingate this time and I thought it was really decent. It's not big, but it's right down the street and it's incredibly cheap. 27 dollars a night for two adults if booked through Disney... Not bad in my book. If you have experienced all that money can buy you at Disneyland and you are just on another of many trips, motel 6 maingate is definitely a place to look at as far as price goes. Just be sure to get the 25 dollar art pass. It will save your legs later on in the trip.

I've stayed at two hotels. The Tropicana Inn & Suites and The Camelot. Both are in walking distance of Disney (like literally less then ten minutes). They are nice and clean. However I am a picky person and their pillows go flat easily, so I just bring my own. About $100 per night, which is good considering how close they are to Disney.

In the past when we've gone as a family we stayed at the Hojo (Howard Johnson) right across the street from DLR. It was really nice because it was within walking distance, you can see the monorail (yay!) and its near an amazingly wonderful restaurant called Mimi's Cafe. We would go there in the morning split a coffee cake and a mocha and be all set for a day at the Parks! The service at the Hojo was really nice and the rooms were well maintained! I highly recommend it!

I wrote a review on Yelp for the Holiday Inn Express off Katella Ave:
First off, the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. My sister and I arrived early so we couldn't check in just yet, but we were able to leave our luggage in their office and they would call us when the room was ready. When it was and we walked in, everything was very nice and clean. What I liked most was that the queen beds didn't have those lame, thin bed comforters, but rather a nice quality blanket folded at the edge of both beds waiting to be snuggled in. I slept like a baby both nights, regardless of being located right by the pool. The bathroom had a chemical smell, almost as if it were over-cleaned with some kind of cleaning solution/liquid that left its scent in the bathroom. I'm not sure what that was about, but I didn't let it get to me. Some of the paint near the drain of the bathtub was chipping away and again I think it's because of some kind of cleaning product that was used on it, perhaps the wrong one. The water was nice and hot with the shower head located nice and high up with a great setting so that it wasn't too weak or strong, something that really determines a hotel's rating for me. If I'm face to face with the shower head, you can bet I'm not coming back and I'm only 5'11". The breakfast is what won me over with this hotel. Bagels, bread (and a toaster), jam, scrambled eggs (first day), mini egg and cheese omelets (day two), bacon (first day), sausage (day two), oatmeal, a self-serve fountain machine with orange juice, apple juice, and water on tap (holy cow!), fruit, a mini refrigerator with yogurt and milk, and a few other great things. The first day we arrived at the end of the breakfast and there was still TONS of food left, even the bacon! I even had seconds! Day two we came about an hour into it (it lasts 6:30AM-9:30AM) and we were treated to the same great quality as the day before. I heard there's a shuttle service next door at the Ramada for Disneyland but my sister and I toughed it out and walked both days and it really is only a 11-15 minute walk. Right around the corner is a 24 hour Subway, a pizza/burger place, a Chinese restaurant (which I've heard great things about), and a Mexican food taqueria type restaurant (with a huge line on Saturday night so that must be good). There is also a liquor store and 7-11 is right across the street. Down the other way is all the big stuff: a bowling alley, P.F. Chang's, The Cheesecake Factory, etc. Across the street is an IHOP and I believe a car rental service. If you're choosing this hotel with Expedia and are flying, DON'T choose their $21/person shuttle rate from the airport (SNA) to the hotel and same rate going back because the hotel itself can book it for you 24 hours in advance for only $10 a person. All in all, the hotel experience was more than I expected with only a few letdowns. Oh, and by the way, kudos on the hotel giving us so many pillows and towels! Give this place a chance.

So we just went this last weekend and stayed (as usual) in the Fairfield Inn across the street. They have new beds! They were memory foam, and they were HEAVEN!! It was so wonderful to come back to those after a long day. Lovely! I've always had a good stay at this hotel!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned the Alpine Inn yet but that is where I stayed and for the price it could not have been better. I think we maybe paid 59.00 a night and the distance from the park was minimal. the hotel is right near a seven eleven and directly across from the Anaheim convention center. An added bonus were the fantastic views of California Adventure, both Paradise Pier and the Bear Mountain from inside the motel courtyard. Nothing tremendously fancy but I would definatly stay there again. Rooms not highly themed but the outside looks like a little ski chalet. Maybe a 10 minute walk to the main entrance.

This year we stayed at the Portofino Inn and Suites, just southeast of DCA. It was by far our best hotel choice in a long time. The family suite is excellent - definitely suited our needs with 5 people. We didn't interact with the staff much, but the folks at the counter always said a friendly hello or goodbye. Our only complaint was with pillows - our room didn't have nearly enough, and we kept asking for more but for some reason only received one additional pillow per day. We ended up substituting couch cushions for pillows, so it worked out. I think we got a half-price deal when staying there, so it might be a little expensive under normal circumstances.
On the other end of the satisfaction scale, I'd recommend avoiding the Alamo Inn and Suites and the Parkside Inn and Suites if you want quality. Both places, while they will provide shelter and beds for less than $100/night, are quite uncomfortable compared to others in the area. The Alamo's carpets were filthy, and there were rats in the walls that thumped all night and kept me awake - I was finally forced to buy a big pack of earplugs so I could sleep at night. |

We are going to Disneyland again in about 11 days from now and we are staying at one of our favorite hotels the Anabella!!! We have noticed over time that the Anabella is a great place to stay, has places to eat real close by, and is a short walking distance to the park!!! Although at time it can be a little more costly than some other hotels, we have found that the price is worth it! Also before booking if using expedia, travelocity or other sites, check the actual hotel site! Sometimes the prices are lower than on outside sites! For example..our trip comming up in February we got for 99 a night where as on expedia was found for 109 a night! We love this hotel and I hope this may help some of you, if you ever concider the Anabella!
