PRESENTS...haha just kidding. My first thought is friends because I miss them alot and I don't get to see them this Christmas and that makes me upset. Being with friends is really all that I wanted this year. That and food! yum

Spending time with your family and friends. Enjoying the love and joy of the holiday and celebrating the gift of life. I won't get all preacher on anyone because I'm not going to shove my religion down anyone's throat. But to me it's about family, friends, and god. (not in that order)

Long ago and far away. A child was born upon this day.
Not in a palace of marble and gold, But in a stable.
In a manger of hay,no trumpets of feast.
A birthblace announced by by a bright light, shing star.
A sign of such wonder, it brought kings from afar.
They came, one and all,to that still, quiet place and they looked upon Gods sleeping Child's face.

Throughout the world from a million harp strings poured a concert
of glory and the beating of wings. A music still heard on this joyful, sacerd eve. If we listen in faith and in faith we still believe.
Thats Christmas for me. Merry Christmas my VF friends

The birth of Jesus Christ. That's what Christmas is truly about.

Well, I'd preface this by saying I don't mean to get all preachy, but, in truth, it's hard not to be when talking about what Christmas means to me.

Yes, Christmas is used as a celebration of the birth of Jesus, just as Easter is in remembrance of his death and resurrection. But as a Christian, this is something I celebrate year round. Therefore, Christmas for me is so much more than just that.

It's about family togetherness. It must be the time of year, because any other time, spending this much time with extended family would drive me crazy. At Christmas, it's what I long for.

It's about Christmas music. The songs, the singing, the peacefullness of it all.

It's about the movies and TV specials. It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman...I could go on and on.

It's about the lights, the carolers, the live nativity scenes.

It's about the spirit of St Nicholas. Not the Santa Claus that we know today, but Nicholas, the bishop of Myra, who gave selflessly, not asking for anything in return. We can use more people like him today, and how quickly (myself included) we forget the true spirit of giving instead of asking, what do you want for Christmas???

It's a feeling that should be carried in our hearts all year long.

I'm happy to say I havne't asked anybody what they want this year lol. Actually I love everything about Christmas exept for the snow. Unless it's on Christmas Eve of course lol. But I truly do love everything about it. Singing carols, spending time with family and friends, parties, watching kids' faces when they see Santa, buying gifts, all of it! It's just such a fun and peaceful time of year.

Lately I have been thinking about what Advent is about and how most people celebrate Christmas all during Advent, completely ignoring the spiritual preparation for Christmas. I also think about how, as a Catholic Christian, I celebrate Christmas from Christmas Eve to Ephinany and how sad it is to see the commercial build up to one day - people acting like the entire month is Christmas with a big party at the end of the month that is The Big Day - and then after that the decorations come down just when Christmas is actually happening.

I love Christmas-time, which is really the Advent Season, for many of the reasons already mentioned, but I guess lately what Christmas means to me is that a lot of people are really missing out on the real sense of wonder, love, and fullfillment of a spiritual connection with God. I realize that some people just get the warm fuzzies over Christmas but are really missing the truly good stuff.
