Default Universal Studios Discussion Thread

Hey guys,

Since I am getting an annual pass to Universal Studios tomorrow (blasphemy I know :P) I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood.

I plan to go at least once a month.

Anybody else here annual passholders to Universal?

I don't have a pass for Universal, I live 8 hours away, but everytime we go down to Orlando I have to go to IoA. The only thing we go to the Studios for is MIB and Mummy.

Oh yeah, I need to take some video of my trips.

I went today and it was great! The lines weren't bad and we got on everything fairly quick. The pass is defiantly worth every penny of my $200.

I went on:

At IOA:

The Hulk (once)
Spiderman (once)
Jurassic Park (once)
Dueling Dragons (once)
Dudley Do Right Ripsaw Falls (once)
Popeye and Bluto's River Raft (twice)
Poseidon's Fury (once)
The 8th Voyage of Sinbad (once)
The Cat in the Hat (once)
The Sneech Ride (once)
The Dr. Seuss Carousel (once)

At Universal Studios:

The Mummy (4 times)
I Love Lucy Tribute (once)
Men in Black (once)

----

So yeah, a pretty productive day lol :P

Funny thing. Just got home from USH.

Really no comments. I know it's far from USO. Been going since I was a kid. It's lost a lot of its luster. My 2 year old had fun though. We didn't pay. Used some comps.

My daughter works on the lot at USH. She gets me a pass to drive into the lot and I get to walk around where the trams go, and the stage buildings. I wave to the trams as they drive by. Last time I was standing in front of where the 'clocktower' from back to future was and a tram drove by and people were waving at me.

Universal Studios is so poorly conceived that I have yet to take the time out to go there (why they have rides based on the flavour of the week movie they're trying to promote rather than the few classic franchises they have established is beyond me... I'd much rather go on a ride with the original Boris Karloff Mummy than the new one). I would like to go on Jurassic Park, but one attraction does not a worthwhile trip make.

Unfortunately USH is where Disneyland will be in about 20 years unless they drop their obssession with their own movies that they're grown...

Universal Hollywood or Universal Orlando?

Hollywood... I've been there twice and will be going there again in a few years. It's possible that I might make the effort next time, if I have enough time in the trip. I don't have any interest as such in going to Florida.

Though let me tell ya', if one of the Islands of Adventure was based on the original Universal Studios Monsters, I'd seriously consider it!

I have only been to USH once and that was the day after they had the whole ground breaking ceremony for King Kong. I dunno why I have never gone again. I have been to City Walk many times though. I guess I just thought it wasn't worth the price to go when I can go to Disneyland and have a better time.

i just got back from it today. It was fun for a few hours on my own, but definitely not worth the hour and 20 minutes of traffic getting there...

I plan on getting an AP to USH in the near future. Since I can get one for $61, it has about as many blockout dates as a Deluxe DLR AP does, and I plan on going more than once in the next 12 months, I may as well right?
