Leg warmers of various colors. It was like any and every woman had to have them lol. Was everyone's legs really that cold? Was there something wrong with the temperature in 80's to require leg warmers? LOL

^^ LOL!

Anybody remember the huge Beanie Baby hype? Where people would line up hours before a toy store opened just to be the first to buy a "limited edition" Beanie Baby? My mom and I used to do that! We paid A LOT for some them and now they're pretty much worth nothing.

Once my mom and I made the mistake of going to McDonald's when the beanie baby toys were in the happy meals. We had to wait AGES to get our food.

I've been helping a friend compile a high school reunion slideshow... class of 1988! Funny this topic would start now!

Here are some of the things I saw (and remembered):

Boy haircuts for girls.
Girls in hats
Kinky permanent waves that made girls hair all stringy

EVERY boy had a mullet, I swear. No one admits now, of course.

BRIGHT RED glasses frames

Wearing your hair in a ponytail, but keeping the scrunchie (or whatever it was) way down low about 2/3 of the way down the length of your hair.

LOL Let's not forget that the scrunchies were also worn to the side a bit and not in the back.
Let's also not bring back the Parachute Pants and roll them up so the taper to a tight fit at the ankles.

Or we could go 90's and just wear the scrunchie on your wrist.

This is sorta late 90's early 2000... two words: Lisa Frank.

I remember those metal "snap" wristband things. They came in different prints and colors and it was this flat peice of metal but when you snapped it on your wrist, it wrapped around like a bracelet. I remember "jams"--those baggy cotton pants that everybody wore, those skirts attached to leggings that girls wore, and of course shoulder pads----out to here----! "The Cosby Show" and the fashion statement he made with all those hip sweaters, and don't forget "Home Improvement" =)

oh my gosh, crimping! I remember spending an hour in the morning doing that to my hair. My friend had a perm and would spend an hour and a whole bottle of gel making it "crunchy"!

My mom used to work for hallmark and they would give her 10 slap bracelets everytime a new one came out. It only took a few months and my friends I had TONS of the! It was awesome! I was so cool hahahahahaahha

1988---- John Water's Hairspray first came out!
(and Ferris Bueller!)

Haha the 80's and 90's were pretty trippy...
all of those incredibly-stonewashed jeans...EVERYTHING was stonewashed... WHY??? WHY?!?! WHATS WITH THE STONEWASH?!?!?!

And oh boy, I DO remember the beanie baby hype! My best friend was a mass contributor to it!

I think I'm getting sick... Most of the 80's and 90's are a time i'd be better off forgetting! Ha!

In every single home video or TV show from back then, I can't believe how girls did their hair. I think it looks REALLY bad.

My mom was a total sterotypical 90's mom. Sadly, she impressed that on us. In nearly every home video or picture from when I was young, say, '94 or '95, I had very oddly colored shirts/pants (Which I also think is ugly, in all the old TV shows) and my pants were ALWAYS up to my chest.

Oh, big, thick glasses too. yuck, haha.

The beginning of Pokemon...I don't have a clue when it started, but I was, just like every other kid, totally wrapped up in the craze. Wow...that was a long time ago...

Harry Potter started in '99, so that's one more thing. I used to hate Harry Potter, then I liked it, and now I don't really care

I was born in '91, so I don't remember much past the old pictures and video we have. When I am older and have kids, I'm not only going to film my kids ridin their bike, etc., but also to watch 30 years in the future to laugh at what life was like

10 years from now, what do you think will be different? Will iPods be old and funny looking, like Walkmans are? Will we think fasions of today are really weird, and even funny? 10 years ago, we thought the SuperNES, N64 and the Playstation were marvels, and today we have the Wii, Xbox, and Playstation 3. What will gaming be like in the future? In 10 years, we came a long way, 10 years from now, will we see the Wii as an old novelty and severly outdated? Let's wait ten years and see.
