Teenage Stereotypes

I have recently noticed that some people are, sometimes unknowingly, saying that all teenagers are bad, especially at Disneyland. Such as a story, when, say, some teenager(s) caused some mischief, and someone responded to that post that implied that all teenagers are stupid. I know that some of us kids do cause mischief, but, as a courtesy for others, or at least for me, please just direct your insults towards the culprits, not to every teen. Some of us are mature enough to know not to be as stupid as to rock a POTC boat, or jump out of a moving PeopleMover car.

EDIT: And it's not just on this site. It's on every Disneyland site, unfortunately, although this place has the least of it thanks to those awesome mods.

And if I broke any rules in this post, I'm sorry.

I am guilty of this in the past and am not above getting corrected by a mature teenager.

I totally agree, that is one of the biggest things that drove me crazy when I was a teenager. I am now in my 20s and am very careful not to say anything about "teenagers" as a whole that makes them sound like troublemakers. I know A LOT of very mature teens that know how to behave and are quite a bit nicer or mature than a lot of "adults" I know. So I agree.. careful not to blame "those dang teenagers" when a small number of them are actually causing trouble. Thanks for bringing this to people's attention

Most teenagers even smoke and take bad drugs, also they drink alcohol. Most immature teens get into a lot of trouble and do really stupid things. Like getting themselves killed or even have sex way too early.

was the point of your post to prove what this thread is saying? It's unfounded immature statements like that that are totally unneceessary and untrue.

It makes me feel odd in a certain way to hear that tennagers are so terrible to you, Disneyland Guy. I am a total non-troublemaker teen. I have all A+s for grades, and go to a math/science center. That is a total stereotype, and there are stereotypes for adults as well which we know aren't true. All teens are not terrible.

A long time ago in a high school far far away I was into CB radio (how I met my best friend of 20 years!) and there was a woman who was blaming everything on "kids'. SOmeone blew up her mailbox with an explosive (M80 cherry bomb or whatever) and she said "some kids blew up my mailbox last night". I wish I had asked her how she knew it was kids. On another night some guy made a derogatory comment about Billy Idol referring to his sexual orientation, and she happened to be out there and said "these kids put down a musician just because he is homosecual that'd prejudice if you ask me". Yet she's saying that only kids are homophobic. THAT'S predjudice if you ask ME

I have noticed all those bad stereotypes too. Nobody gives us any credit for actually doing something right. I am so responsible when I go to Disneyland. I even try not to cuss at all. I might be bad at home, but at the happiest place on Earth, I have the happiest attitude on Earth.

Saying that teenagers are bad, stupid, and rude and immature is just as stupid and pointless as saying that African Americans or Hispanics or Asians etc. are bad, stupid, and rude. Guess what? No matter what group of people you run into, there are stupid people and bad people everywhere. There are also good people. My church became a drop off point for Salvation Army here in the Phoenix area. Who had the idea to hold a car wash to raise more funds? The YOUTH group! I see lots of teenage kids doing all sorts of volunteer work (ie trash pickups, soup kitchens) and see lots of middle age men leering at young girls, yelling loud drunken obscenities at ball games, and getting into fights in the middle of the street. Age is not the deciding factor.

There are plenty of good kids and plenty of bad kids.

There are also plenty of good adults and plenty of bad adults.

Teenagers, do not get discouraged. There are many people out there who are appreciative of mature decisions that younger people are making.

Stereotypes suck. Call idiots idiots when they act like idiots. Idiots will reveal themselves regardless of race, creed, age, origin, etc. Not every so-called "group" is 100% bad or 100% good, so just don't go there with stereotypes. If you're being an idiot, you're an idiot, regardless of your age or whatever else.

I know not all teens are bad. I've been a teenager, and wasn't a bad kid. Sure, I would fool around, but never anything bad. But yes, there are some bad teens. I remember going on Grad Nite to Disneyland is it was horrible how much magic was wasted by "bad teens." But you know something... It only takes one rotten egg to ruin an omlet. The best thing to do is just know that you are a good person and you won't be a teen much longer. Trust me, it goes by very fast.

Theres so many bad people out there and so many good ones too, I was never bad in my teens, but like some of you guys said, it doesnt matter what you are, your going to find bad people in every culture, age group, etc.. Even adults act very stupid and immature, like this one man my sister had a fight with over a parking spot, because your not aloud to park on our street with a valid permit, ok story time people. I live right by a high school called Mater Dal and so the teens park there cars on our street, but what made the whole neighborhood mad, is that they left there trash on our block and raced down are street at fast speeds, had 0 respect for it. So we ran a petition for no one to park on our block without a valid permit, without one you get a ticket. So back to my sister with that awful man, so this guy thought he can park on our street without a permit, for him not knowing you couldnt park without one, so my sister kindly walked up to him and told him nicely "Can you please not park there, you cant without a valid permit." then this guy just said back "Are you the police?" then she said "No, but the neighbors will call them and give you a ticket." then he just started yelling at her, saying shes an idiot and that this school has done so much for our community, OH give me a freakin' break! So he continues on saying you guys are morons and stuff, then he took off in his truck saying get a life and c***, My gosh, my sister was doing him a favor for him not getting a ticket. This man looked like he was in his early 40s, no matter where, any shape or any age, you'll find morons that cant show respect to anyone. Thanks for reading this and hope that man finds god or serious help.
