Teased at School (For non Disney reasons)

Many members on this site are around 15, 16 , even 13 ,like me, and nothing bothers me more than some kid picking on me. Do any of you get teased at school as well? If so, what for? I get picked on because i like musical theatre. A kid asked me what my favorite movie was, so i said , "The Producers" then some others seem to laugh.

You'll be teased if you are different. There are thousands of ways to be different. The ones who aren't teased are the ones who've suppressed & conformed themselves to the latest warped self-image that's popular that day. Funny thing is to watch it, and them, change as time passes. Don't conform yourself to them, no matter how much 'popularity' might seem like a desireable thing. If you have it for the wrong reasons then it's not worth it. Conform yourself to what you know is right, good, just & pure. Don't sacrifice that for the empty favor of others. Then, if popularity should find you, it's a much sweeter situation.

Most teasing is done out of jealousy. But if it ever gets out of hand, report it! As a teacher, teasing can go too far. Report it if you feel it's out of hand.

You are an individual--be proud of it! When I was in high school, my favorite band was "The Glenn Miller Orchestra." Everybody else was in to Aerosmith, Styx and the Doobie Brothers. I knew that wasn't going to be popular with the mainstream current, so I joined band and choir. Now THESE people knew who Glenn Miller was and they loved his music as much as I did! You need to find a group of like-minded people, too. If you like musical theater, I'll bet there is one at your school or in your community that you can be a part of. Remember one very important thing: very rarely do the cheerleaders and football stars gain importance after high school because they stay "stuck" in the molds created for them in high school. It's the INDIVIDUALS like you who go out and do great things. Keep your chin up and stay true to yourself! And on a side note, I think "The Producers" is one of the most hilarious musicals I've ever seen =)

People in my school tease other kids because there are a lot of kids in our grade that are loaded and they get their way at home so they want to get their way at school and they probably bribe the teachers not to tell the prinicipal. In our school, you have to be smart, skinny, and athletically fit, and have an I-pod and/or a big house.

I've reported kids in my school yet they still bother me. The prinicipal isn't doing anything about it and quite frankly, I'm very sick of my school. I want to move to West Milford. Everyone is poor and the schools are great.

Besides, bullying is illegal, but just from my expiriece and my watchful eyes and ears, the thing in Columbine is going to happen again.

I get teased because I am very different. I walk around playing my harmonica or my guitar playing 60's rock music. Most people at my school, except my friends and other people that are called weird, don't like the music I like I also don't get into the fads that the other people are into. I also get good grades which a lot of people don't like. But I don't care. I like who I am and I'm not gonna change for no one.

Good FOR YOU!!! Wow, my roommate and I were just talking about this the other night...Im only 23 and I hated highschool for these reasons! I was never "nerdy" but I was never "popular" either. (Whatever "popular" means!)but I was fortunate to have older friends...my best friend is 5 years older than me and it just goes up from there.., so all they would ever tell me is that kids just don't know any better. I've since learned (and I wish that more teenagers would believe it) that just letting things role of your back and don't put ANY energy into them teasing you because ultimately time is all we have and no one should waste it on ridiculous and meaningless bullies! Life is too short and when you look back on your experiences in life you will want to say "you know I tried my best and I was myself" Don't let bored, lonely, insecure teenagers ruin your day or especially how you feel about yourself! My dad is a psychiatrist and he always says" when you point a finger rememember there are 3 fingers pointing back at YOU! Time is too precious! Look at your bully, smile, and walk away! Trust me, I wish I would've known what I know now!

Don't listen to those kids. They are only "kids" they think they are cool. Bullies usually regret that they tease in later life. Don't worry sweat it.

For all of you who are still in middle school, let me tell you, in three years, it's not going to matter. You'll find people who can respect you for who you are. It's just the middle-schooler's-mindset, the awkward rapid maturity that occurs. It will pass.

they think they are big and manly when they bully you they think they're more powerful that way. Heck even DF#1 has been bullied, mostly DLR related stuff.:old_wink: just ignore them and they will eventually stop.

^^I'm with you on that one once you get to High school nobody really cares about teasing, because everone is trying to figure out who they are and what they want to do. Sure, there is always going to be bullies, thats life, but most people are just covering up their insecurities by making fun of others the rest are just jerks and should be avoided.
