hey, i did that last night!!! and i haven't even seen this post! haha. just take some mentos (we used mint) and put some (we did 3) into a 2 liter bottle of diet coke/pepsi and you've got yourself a sticky fountain =) (and if you're a slow runner, then you'll be sticky as well)

Tips for you budding scientists:
1. Mint mentos work the best, the fruit kind doesn't have quite the kick. 2. Want the fountain to shoot higher? Use more mentos. Typically, we use one whole roll. That seems to max out the soda. 3. Warmer soda tends to work better than cold soda 4. 2 Liter bottles are better than the smaller bottles 5. When preparing, consider how you're going to put the mentos into the bottle. My favorite (for its simplicity) is to roll them in paper and slide them in. Other people go with more complex methods, like stringing them on fishing line, or building small release systems. Can you tell I've spent too much time with this experiment? |
