Who has done this cool trick? If you try it, try not to get soaked in soda.

The soda goes... *BOOM* and it sprays everywhere.

It creates a fountain of soda, as all the carbonation is forced out of the soda. It's quite fun. I've done it quite a few times.

not mentos but I have tried it with skittles. big fun mess! or you can drop your soda on the cement and that makes your soda explode too.

Heh, wow, now thats interesting. Yeah that was weird at the end, I turned it down thinking it was one of those ......AAHHHHHHHH!!!! things lol. But yeah, that was awsome.

hey, i did that last night!!! and i haven't even seen this post! haha. just take some mentos (we used mint) and put some (we did 3) into a 2 liter bottle of diet coke/pepsi and you've got yourself a sticky fountain =) (and if you're a slow runner, then you'll be sticky as well)

a friend from church sent me the video of the two original guys doing it. and after seeing those guys on tv a couple of days ago, I just had to try it. in fact i'm going to put that video on my user page....so go check it out

When I was a kid, we did this with Pop Rocks and soda -- big volcano of stickiness and fun!

Tips for you budding scientists:
1. Mint mentos work the best, the fruit kind doesn't have quite the kick.
2. Want the fountain to shoot higher? Use more mentos. Typically, we use one whole roll. That seems to max out the soda.
3. Warmer soda tends to work better than cold soda
4. 2 Liter bottles are better than the smaller bottles
5. When preparing, consider how you're going to put the mentos into the bottle. My favorite (for its simplicity) is to roll them in paper and slide them in. Other people go with more complex methods, like stringing them on fishing line, or building small release systems.

Can you tell I've spent too much time with this experiment?
