So today i watched the Simpsons at like 6:00 i think and it was an episode i had seen before, but seeing it again revived my anger with it. In this episode, Edna Krabapple is nominated for the best teacher award by Bart. So she and the Simpsons travel to Epcot for the award ceremony. so naturally the Simpsons make fun of Epcot. but what really ticks me off is how they do it:
1)Bart tells the Simpson family that they are going to Orlando. so Homer tries to guess where in Orlando they are going and he says "Disneyworld". But Bart says no, that instead they are going to Epcot. Now when did Epcot separate from Disneyworld? It's IN Disneyworld!!! 2)At Epcot, Lisa and Marge ride a ride all about what life would be like in 1985 as invisioned in the 70's. Of course the ideas are very farfetched, but that's not what gets me. What gets me is the fact that teh ride's entrance is the Spaceship Earth aka the big golfball. Yet instead of being called SE, it has some other dumb name. 3)Towards the end of the episode, Edna and Principal Skinner are kissing by the World Showcase Lagoon. Skinner's mother interrupts them by asking Skinner for more ice. She is shown on the balcony of her hotel. Now if you have ever been to Epcot, then you'll know there are NO hotels that are in the park or even that near the lagoon. So it's like, at least be faithful to the landscape cuz that's just ridiculous. 4)At the end of the episode, Homer says he's gonna go to Disneyworld. He actually means the Magic Kingdom cuz as i said THEY ARE IN DISNEYWORLD! 5)So Homer runs to the Magic Kingdom, which is shown sharing a brick wall with Epcot. Homer jumps the wall and is in the park. However, Epcot is many miles away from the Magic Kingdom, and neither park share any walls with any other parks. 6)Ok i get the satire of making fun of educational rides, which Epcot was criticized for in its early days. But that was ages ago. They don't have those educational rides anymore (except for a few) and they are certainly not as boring as the Simpsons implied. The park isn't like that anymore, which completely makes the Simpson's humor dumb and dated. Now, i did like the "Honey, I Squirted Goo on the Audience" joke, but other than that, this is one of the Simpson's worst episodes for me. Oh ya, making fun of DCA is getting old (although most pf the jokes are true) End of rant

Wow, you're pretty emotional about the Simpsons. Too bad. It's a pretty funny episode. Do the writers want to be accurate? Probably not. They're not Disney, they're lampooning Disney, they make fun of the general overview of it all. That's what they do.
To quote Sherry Bobbins- "No, I am a completely original character; like Ricky Rouse or Monald Muck."

Hmmm... I see your point, but I do know that the creators of the Simpsons don't really do research into Disney parks... therefore, any "mistakes" they may make actually makes fun of the script writers, not the Disney parks themselves. They also assume that most of their audience members are not Disney fans, so they can make ridiculous things to make those who have a vague knowledge of Disneyworld laugh.
EDIT: D'oh! ShrunkenNed already beat me to it!

Also, consider, if they were too accurate, they would probably get in trouble with Disney's legal dept.

Your whole problem is you actually think the Simpsons' writers have a clue about what they're talking about. And if you do enjoy going to those parks, chances are you don't enjoy shows like Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park etc which make you dumber by watching them. So really they're just making jokes about stuff they've already chosen not to like and those who think like them will laugh at it. It's nothing we need to hear nor worry about.

^^actually i LOVE shows like that! Simpsons is one of my favorites. That's why i was mad cuz i expect a certain level of quality, but then they dish out something like this. sure they probably didn't do research, but i think everyone knows that epcot is IN disneyworld.
other than that i'm just saying that the humor would be REALLY funny if it was presented around Epcot's opening, when it was just education. but now, it's kinda overkill cuz it's just not that way anymore. Now their jokes about DCA (Bart says something like "Well I know where no one will be...DCA!), those are funny cuz they are 100% true. Now imagine that DCA became like Disneyland, full to capacity on some days and a really good park. And then Simpsons drops that humor and it doesn't make sense. THAT's my point and why i was irked, cuz they are making fun of a park that essentially doesn't exist: the old really educational = no fun Epcot. Oh ya...Family Guy's Disney jokes are sooo much better than Simpsons'. that's cuz they make fun of eisner a lot and when they make fun of the parks, they do it in a way that people actually think (the whole small world thing).

Seriously, it was just a TV show. I love the Simpsons. I have seen the episode a whole bunch of times and I just laugh, cause it is a pretty funny episode. Remember, it is JUST a TV SHOW.

To say people who watch the Simpsons, south park or family guy generally aren't Disney fans is kinda false I know plenty of people who are fans of all of them and at the same time no less. I mean whats not funny about Homer jumping the fence and going "one churro please" and hearing a voice go "that will be 13 bucks" I mean that makes me laugh. humour is a subjective thing and satire is based on getting a response even if it makes ya mad your still responding to it aren't ya.

^^well ya, that churro joke is funny because it's true (Disney food is expensive). My problem with the jokes about Epcot being solely educational is just that it's not that way anymore.
Don't get me wrong, many jokes in the episode were very funny, and i understand the level of satire they writers invoke. i'm just saying they are describing an Epcot of the past, and as a Disney fan and someone who visited Epcot and actually like it, i was just like "that doesn't even make sense anymore"
