Default The official "CHRONICALS OF NARNIA" movie thread

I'm really looking forward to the Narnia movie, and just to tip you guys off, the merchandise has hit the World Of Disney Store at the resort:

The stuff in the Disney Catalog is far nicer, but I can see a complete set of action figures in my future.

That movie is going to go through the roof. I can't wait to see it.

My wife and I went to see Harry Potter this last weekend, and a trailer came before the movie for Narnia....wow. I was stoked, big time. This looks like a great movie.

Course, this was also following the Superman Returns trailer, so I was already gung-ho excited before the Narnia trailer started (Xmas 2005 and 2006 looks to be a good year for flicks).

I loved reading the books. For all of you Narnia fans out there they have, in a 4 DVD box set, the original live action movies of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, The Voyage of The Dawn Treader, Prince Caspian and The Silver Chair, for sale now. As cheesy as they were, I had to buy them. But anyway, I am very excited about this new version and can't wait to see it. I hope they do all 7 books as movies.

This movie will sure to please, my sister of course read the books and said shes going to take me to see the movie for one of my christmas presents :). When I saw the trailer, I just have to see it, plus I remember seeing the old cartoon on Disney channel looooong time ago, it was always one of my favorites.

It's about darn time there was something decent to see at the theatres! I'm no fan of Harry Potter, the last movie I saw was Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and that felt like a waste. The last good movie that I can remember seeing was War of the Worlds. I remember reading Narnia books in Elementary school and they had a profound effect. I just hope the loss from book to movie isn't too great. I don't want to see what happened to Charlie happen to Narnia.

I got the cartoon on tape at home. I kinda liked the cartoon better than the live action one.

I agree with you Matt. I am sure someone is going to make a big deal about the religious aspect of the story. I am surprised Disney took on a religious story to make as a movie. Not that they never played the originals on the Disney Channel, but that is different in a way.

Actually, I heard an interview on the radio with an ACLU member who said it is too blatantly religious to force upon young children and their young minds. I had to laugh, because it took me until my senior year of high school to realize there were any religious implications in the book. I just though it was a good story.

But then, it was an ACLU member talking, so what do you expect?

He actually said, "it is too blatantly religious to force upon young children and their young minds"? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Radicals. All of them. Not the ACLU, just people like that person.

My school is taking 50 of us to go see this flick at the El Capitain and of course, I was the first to sign up. I hope they give it the same treatment along the lines of POTC and HM. I want to see some props and costumes!

I anticipate the talks we'll have in Religion class about this movie. The last time my school promoted a film was Passion Of The Christ but I avoided it because of the gore and all. At least this one's family friendly.

Gotta go find my book now...

This is what was said, and I agree. Ridiculous. And I'm not blasting the ACLU, honestly the reasoning behind the forming of the organization does have merit. But there are members, and they're usually the ones with the loudest voices who say such ridiculous things. My goodness, it's just a movie, people! Times have changed, I remember being read the book in second grade in public school, thinking, "I really want to see the movie now!"

I should also point out, the person was talking about the book without even seeing the movie yet, so, there you go.

Good point. Forgot about that. Radicals nontheless. All in all, I think Disney will profit preety good from this movie and I hope it does really good at the box office for them.

It isn't really religious, just strongly themed. Well, the book is anyway...I have yet to see the movie, but I really want to. Does anyone really like it, or is it a waste of time as well as money?

It should do very well. This is the sort of thing that parents don't have to worry about their kids seeing and that makes parents adore it. I gotta tell you guys, when parents can breathe easy about something for their kids, they will pay out the left side of Saturn for it. Nothing questionable, nothing crude, this should be a terrific story about adventure, honor & virtue. Kids, parents, everyone, go nuts!
