Well those in Southern California can tell you it's been a wet week... but it's been even wetter in Casa De DaddyB.
We had a pipe burst in our Main bathroom. Not up above the cement pad or in the wall, no no no, that'd be too easy... in the cement foundation. For those of you unfamiliar with Southern California housing, contractors here just get the ground level, lay a bunch of pipes on top of the ground where the building plan says there's going to be bathrooms and kitchens and such, and then pour cement on top of it. So when the house shifts (and our house is on a hillside overlooking beautiful downtown Corona and Cleveland National Forest, and well, pretty much of all of San Bernardino county) like any southern California house is going to do because we live on one giant faultline, the pad moves, and pipes break because they're surrounded by cement and have almost no room to shift. oh, and it couldn't be a COLD water pipe that broke, no no no... it's a HOT water pipe. So not only have we been unknowingly leaking gallons of water for at least several days now, but we've been paying to HEAT the water that's leaking under the cement pad and bubbling up off the side of the house! Right now we've got the bathroom pretty much torn apart and hopefully located where the leak is. About a third of our home is tiled, so we're going to have to break apart tile and the cement pad to get to the leak. Oh, it's just a laugh riot around here. The long and short of it is that I'm going to just be too busy dealing with household chaos to get the photo update finished. I HATE not being able to meet deadlines on a consistant basis, or perhaps I HATE missing deadlines on a consistent basis, which may be more the case with my photo updates! I've got some really cool shots, too. Matterhorn at night and sunset with pretty clouds... some cool Mansion shots and well... maybe I'll just toss them into the 'desktop' section of VF since it could really use an update. ARGH! |

Why was I visualizing Jack Sparrow's entrance on the small sinking boat the entire time I was reading that? I'm going nuts.
Sorry to hear of your troubles Brett. Stay stable, stay sane, and stay aware! Beware of scumbag contractors looking at you like a dog at a steak. Hope you can get back at it soon! -- PMM
