Default New Year's '07 - What's Your Resolution?

Hey Viffers! You knew someone would post it eventually! Just wondering if anyone has any resolutions for they upcoming year.

Mine is to spend more time with my grandparents and record the family history.

Also, I plan on exercising more in order to get in better shape. (not satisfied with the shape of round anymore )

Anyone else?

The resolution to record your family history is AWESOME. I had a project where I had to interview a family member. I interviewed my grandfather and I found out that he was a POW in Siberia from 1941-1946 (even AFTER WWII was long over) and that he can speak five different languages. I found out so much about my grandfather that I didn't know. Family history is so important.

I also would like to start eating better. Chocolate in moderation. Junk food in moderation. Ramen in moderation --that stuff is SO bad for you. More exercising would be nice also.

Study harder; do better on the SAT; don't procrastinate. HAHA.

My new years resolution is to not make a new years resolution. I've tried them and they don't work. :P

Hmm..... Mine is to stay fit before High School. I always gain weight during the summer. Even though its not summer yet, I'm working on it.

You're right crystaltink, they don't ever work. I just decided I was going to try it this year.

As soon as I decided to get a new dog, I promise to be more responsible to my pet.

Eh I've tried every year to try and be better to

not procrastinate
not drink anything with caffiene

it just doesn't work unless you slightly modify something that will work for you, and even then it doesn't really work for me. I know I sound horribly pessimistic, but that's not the case. I'm just being realistic. I just try to be the best person I can be for the year and if I feel I've accomplished that by the end of the year, then my job is done. :)

My resolution is to corrupt the world with darkness and evil. Actually my resolution is not to get arrested, and to stay alive until next new years eve.

You are so wise to talk to your grandparents about your history while you can. I've been doing my family history for 25 years but my mother's parents died when I was 3. It's tough when you don't have people to ask. Every year I have my history students put together a family history project. The main piece is that they have to interview their three oldest living relatives and write their biographies. It's a very moving experience (most of them have never had a one-on-one conversation with their grandparents) and, since I teach in my community, I do hear back from them years later about how glad they were to have done it while they could.

Anyway, resolutions. I will be joining my son on SparkPeople to try to get healthy. I have a number of craft projects in progress that I resolve to finish. But my big resolution is to be more positive; I fight cynicism constantly.

I've got a little list here:

- Drink more green tea, less coffee.
- Graduate in May!
- Figure out how to get Rosie off The View.
- Spend time with my Sock Monkeys.
- Go to Disneyland more.
- Run more
- Eat more Oriental food
