I'm most interested in Toy Story 3, Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island (Why did it have to be delayed to 2010...) and Christopher Nolan's Inception.
That's right fellow VFer's! The time has come for me to reveal to you the master list of movie release dates for next year! Now, I usually do this in January or February of the subsequent year I'm writing for because January 1st is the unofficial deadline for films to have "official" release dates by studios. Unfortunately, due to the pariah's of confused release dates this past year (eg: Shutter Island, The Wolfman, Nottingham, etc.) the studios have agreed to bump their deadline to November 1st to account for any last minute changes they make for the following year. So, without any further ado, I give you the release dates and sneak peek of the major films of 2010!
Disclaimer: Although these films and their release dates have been posted and confirmed by their respective studios, the studios reserve the right to change their release dates at any moment.

Now that you've seen the entire list, there are a couple things that I'd like to point out that I've noticed. First off, the summer lineup looks incredibly impressive and to be perfectly honest, also looks more epic than this past year's lineup. Second, there are a lot of films that are going to be released in 3D this year. As much as I enjoy these films with the expansion and revelations made in 3D technology, I believe they are going a little too far with them. A final observation I have made is that the Spring and Summer has an incredible amount of films being released where as the Fall and Winter doesn't have much. That may change at any time, but as of this moment, doesn't look like much.
Other than that though, the films I am most excited for are The A Team, Clash of the Titans, Inception, Shutter Island, Iron Man 2, Toy Story 3, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Legion, Red Dawn, The Wolfman and Tron Legacy.
And now, last, but certainly not least, my list of shame. These are the films I am not excited for in any way or form...
MacGruber (If you look at the track record for films based after SNL sketches, you'll see the odds stacked against this)
Piranha 3D (Really???)
Footloose (Leave the original alone! Especially if the rumors that Zac Effron is starring in it are true)
The Twilight Sage: Eclipse (No Comment)
The Sorcerer's Apprentice (First, why did they get Nicholas Cage to star in this? Second, way to capitalize off of those thinking this will be a Disney film)
Resident Evil: Afterlife (After seeing the failure of the last 2 films, I have a feeling this one won't be any better).
Poocha Chubugga Oom Chickee! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
I'm most interested in Toy Story 3, Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island (Why did it have to be delayed to 2010...) and Christopher Nolan's Inception.
Looking forward to: Iron Man 2, Kick-*** and Toy Story 3. Shaking my head at: Why Did I Get Married Too? (I've had enough of you, Tyler Perry), Saw VII (you jumped the shark at number 3), Eclipse, (tired of dealing with screaming fangirls) and essentially anything that's a reboot of an 80s movie.
Slightly intrigued (could be good, could be bad) at: Prince of Persia, Harry Potter 7 (keep in mind I've never read any of the books or seen any of the movies until Half-Blood Prince).
But a movie that's not mentioned on here that is slated to come out in 2010 I would like to see is Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. It's based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's series of graphic novels which are very funny and irreverent and stars Michael Cera as the titular character. Essentially, Scott falls in love with a girl named Ramona, but to date her he has to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends.
What I'm playing now:
Chrono Cross (PSX)
Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
Kingdom Hearts II (PS2)
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
Tales of Symphonia (GC)
Tales of Vesperia (360)
Uh, I'll post opinions of the movies as I know them in a bit, but first...
Only nine original, unadapted, non-sequel films? Out of...39 movies.
Sad day.

Scripts are the soil of a film. The story is the seed, the actors are the water, and the crew are the sunlight, giving it the chance to bloom into a brilliant flower.

Okay first of all I am a little surprised looking at this list because a couple of movies have caught my eye. First is the tyler parry movie, when i first saw his films I really thought it would not catch on... guess I was wrong. Second is the saw film, they are on their 7th film wow. Last is not the remake for the film Wallstreet but a sequel in my opinion that movie was amazing and it should end where it did.
Thank you for the line up stichhead28

There's a 5th Shrek movie? What happened to the 4th?

I can't wait for Harry Potter DH to come out!!!! My friends and I already planned on going to the midnight premier again like we did for HBP, it was awesome!!
Alice in Wonderland and Toy Story 3 should be good too.
Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis. Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination, hmm? And consider this dismaying observation: this chamber has no windows, and no doors... which offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Of course, there's always my way...
Rocks!!
no, don't tell me Muppets got pushed back! But TS3, Tron Legacy/TR2N, and Harry: DH should be good.
I know this is probably your last flight, and it's... mine too... heh-heh.
We'll miss you, Rex!
Well you guys are just looking at all the mainstream films... That's pretty much what this entire list consists of. When 2010 comes around, there will be plenty more films that are more original and worthwhile than most of the stuff on this list. There are tons of amazing independent films released year by year that most people don't take a second glance to see just because they're usually overshadowed by mainstream crud.
There's alot of 80's remakes.. Wow.
Thanks for sharing this information :)
Footloose with Zac Efron [rumored]? Well.. He may be annoying in the High School Musicals, but he wasn't so bad in Hairspray, and if he brings that same kinda of attitude and peformance.. I don't think it'll be as bad as one immediately thinks it will be
Exactly. Mainstream films are always the ones that are pushed before anything else because they are the money makers. Although it may seem as if sequels and remakes are dominating the movie playing field, they really aren't. Just to give you an idea, despite seeing things like GI Joe, Terminator Salvation, etc. this year, I also had the chance to see some really good, original/indie films such as The Hurt Locker, Paper Heart and (500) Days of Summer. As a matter of fact, the end of the year/Oscar season is when I really get to see the best/original films of the year.
I know right?!? In a way, I'm excited, but at the same time I really want them to do justice to them, especially with Red Dawn (which is hands down one of my favorite 80s films of all time). And as far as Zac Effron goes, I did enjoy him in Hairspray, but the only reason I don't want him starring in Footloose is I'm afraid the filmmakers will make it campy and give it a childish tone where as the original wasn't. It's just a slight concern I've got.
Poocha Chubugga Oom Chickee! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Honestly, the only mainstream film that I actually loved more than pretty much any other film this year was Up (Go figure). The rest of my top films are pretty much Indie films.
(500) Days of Summer, The Hurt Locker, Moon, etc., they were all amazing. Have you seen Moon yet? If not, you really gotta see it whenever you get the chance.
