Default Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt 2008

Well, it's a little early for Halloween, but I read an article posted the Los Angeles Times web site announcing the maze/attraction line up for this years Halloween Haunt! Now, just to recap, last years lineup was as follows:

    The Dark Realm Laser Range
    Lost Vegas
    The Grudge 2
    13 Axe Murder Manor
    Feary Tales
    Red Beard's Revenge
    The Asylum
    Lore of the Vampire
Black Widow's Cavern (New for 2007)
    Pyromaniax (New for 2007)
Killer Clown College (New for 2007)
The Doll Factory (New for 2007)
Beowulf Labyrinth Into Darkness (New for 2007)

With that said, my thoughts last year were kind of "meh". Pyromaniax (the log ride) wasn't that great and the Beowulf maze sunk (it just wasn't scary). Black Widow's Cavern (the mine ride), The Doll Factory and Killer Clown College were all great and the returning mazes were all pretty fun with the exception of Red Beard's Revenge, Lore of the Vampire, Lost Vegas and The Grudge 2. Those were either bad or "meh". I really wasn't impressed last year. This year, however, the lineup has changed dramatically leading me to become excited for this year's haunt!

    This year's lineup:

    The Doll Factory
    Killer Clown College
    Pyromaniax
    Black Widow's Cavern
    Lost Vegas
    The Asylum
    13 Axe Murder Manor
    Alien Annihilation (New for 2008)
    The Labyrinth (New for 2008)
    Slaughterhouse (New for 2008)
    Club Blood (New for 2008)
    Cornstalkers (New for 2008)
Quarantine (New for 2008/Based on the movie)

I don't know about anyone else, but this year sounds SOOOO much better than last year! Anyway, I'll be posting updates here as the information comes in. Happy early Halloween Haunt everyone!

I'm too chicken to do any of this stuff! We have the haunted hospital and haunted corn fields here and I can't bring myself to go. no way!

Alien Annihilation sounds nice. I'm glad they got rid of The Dark Realm Laser Range and I wish they would get rid of Lost Vegas. I would much rather have Red Beard's or even Lore of the Vampire than Lost Vegas. I did like the Doll Factory from last year and I'm always glad to see the Asylum. I'll be going back again this year as usual.

^ I'm not going to lie, I absolutely hated Lost Vegas and Dark Realm. Alien Annihilation I'm pretty excited about because the first time I ever went to haunt, there was a maze called Alien Attack that instantly became one of my favorites. Lore I wasn't too thrilled about because of the ego of most of the monsters in that maze. Let's say you wanted a picture with one of them for example. Some of them would be cool about it and agree to it. Others would just blow you off and think they are too good to get a picture. It's not like they would ignore you or politely decline, they would chew you out and/or give you a reason why they shouldn't get a picture with you.

Anyway, the maze I'm excited about the most is Quarantine. I love zombies!!!

I wasn't aware the monsters were allowed to take pictures with guests. I always assumed they were always to be in their scare zones without exception or delay. Guess it's not quite that rigid...

This will be my 5th time to the Haunt. I really loved the Doll Factory last year. I went through that maze like 3 times in a row. I also liked Black Widow's Cavern. It was pretty creepy with the spiders all over the place. I'm really intersested in the Slaughterhouse & Cornstalkers mazes. I still miss Blood Bayou though.

^ Don't worry, I miss Blood Bayou too. If you want to go further back, I even miss Voodoo Witch Project. As far as Doll Factory goes, I'm not going to lie or try to hide this, so I'm coming out...

Dolls and ventriloquist dummies terrify me.

Like no joke! I absolutely LOVED that maze, but it creeped me out like not other maze in all the times I've been to haunt. Knott's Scary Farm, I take my hat off to you!

As far as news goes though for all you haunt lovers out there, I got some leads from the new ultimatehaunt.com message board and news section. The following revelations have been revealed...

Cornstalkers will be an over-sized maze, bordering that of a scare zone. Instead of having a closed/walled area, the maze will be large and open. The overall theme is an evil corn field with demented scarecrows and mutated farmers with pitchforks coming at you. A similar maze with the same name debuted last year at the Halloween Haunt at King's Island in Ohio.

Club Blood is the replacement maze for Lore of the Vampire witch in itself replaced Gothic Graveyard, Dominion of the Dead and Lair of the Vampyre respectively. The theme in itself is a takeoff on the rave/blood bath portion of the Lore of the Vampire maze. Overall though, the theme is a cross between the blood bath rave from the beginning of the film Blade, the nightclub from the film Queen of the ****ed and the vampire bar from the film Near Dark. This maze too premiered last year at King's Island, but caused some controversy with guests because some of the talent inside acted more like addicts rather than vampires.

Quarantine is the 3rd maze in haunt history that ties into a horror movie promotion for the film of the same name. As the story goes, a news reporter along with her cameraman shadow a unit of Los Angeles firefighters for a graveyard shift. During the shift, the unit responds to a medical emergency at an apartment complex where they are met by EMT's and LAPD officers. While assessing the situation, they realize to their horror that some of the residents are infected with some sort of disease (in other words, they're zombies). When they try to escape, they realize that they are quarantined inside the building by HAZMAT and that they are not allowed to leave alive.

That's it for now everybody! As soon as I get more info I'll be posting it here! And for those of you interested, I'm trying to organize a meet for this year's haunt on Saturday, October 11th. If you are interested please feel free to shoot me a PM for more information.

Alright everybody! It's official! Knott's Berry Farm along with ultimatehaunt.com have confirmed all the mazes for this year! Here are the descriptions of the mazes along with their locations!

    Slaughterhouse - Main Gate Area

Folks from near and far come a-runnin’ for Farmer Willy’s world famous BBQ! Why you can smell the sizzling meat all the way from the interstate! Just take Exit I-13 and follow your nose! Venture through the Slaughterhouse where Farmer Willy will auction you off to the highest bidder, tenderize you with his chainsaw, and grind you into a tasty meat treat. Bone appetite!

Alien Annihilation - The Lake (3D Laser Tag)

Begin transmission: – last entry log of deep space mining vessel Korova Matushka – ship has crashed – following homing beacon – discovery of alien ship – infestation imminent – send help – send help – end transmission.

Lock and load for a descent into the depths of an alien war. Your only companion is your mega-round-thrust repeater rifle and the hordes of alien invaders that threaten to take over the planet. The air lock is opening – prepare for Alien Annihilation!

    Labyrinth - Balloon Race

Take a journey through a forgotten forest, into the dark catacombs that lie beneath a ruined castle. The evil king has long since passed on but his cursed court still haunts the halls of the mysterious labyrinth. Don’t lose your way as you twist and turn through chambers unknown and vainly try to escape the menagerie of mythical monsters that roam the never-ending corridors.

    Cornstalkers - Stagecoach Trail

“We’re not in Oz anymore.” Dorothy has returned to Kansas, but she is not alone. Race through the cursed cornfield to escape the evil minions of the Wicked Witch. You can try to click your heels but the only way you’re going home is stuffed with straw and impaled by the Cornstalkers.

Club Blood - Ghost Rider 2

Welcome to Club Blood where the music is hypnotic and the cocktails are bloody. In the dark underbelly of the city, human victims are drained of their life to nourish the children of the night. Join the hypnotic dance macabre and explore the dark side of the undead.

    Quarantine - Fiesta Plaza

In March 2008, the U.S. Government issued an emergency order sealing off an apartment complex in Los Angeles. A HazMat team was sent to investigate the quarantined building. Authorities have now denied any knowledge of the incident. The residents were never heard from again. There were no explanations; there was no evidence, until now. Experience the truth for yourself when you try to escape Sony Pictures’, Quarantine.

The Doll Factory - Wilderness Dance Hall

In an old, abandoned toy factory, the Marionette Murderer, a psychotic serial killer turns his beautiful victims into life-size porcelain dolls for his personal collection. Tour his twisted museum of death and disfigurement, and hope to escape his mechanical lair.

    Killer Clown Kollege - Xcellerator

Welcome Freshmen to the greatest killing on earth! Make your way through the not so prestigious halls of Clown U. Step right up and experience a wacky, horn blowing deluge of messy make-up and mayhem. During your initiation into this fearsome Fraternity you may just laugh yourself to death!

13 Axe Murder Manor - Mystery Lodge

A once grand Victorian mansion now lies condemned and fenced off from the eyes of civilization. The gruesome axe murders that once occurred on the grounds have left the house filled with angry spirits, designed to seek vengeance on the living.

The Asylum - Ghost Rider 1

In this home for the demented, the inmates pale in comparison to the bizarre behavior of
the guards and doctors. Who is running this Asylum?

    Lost Vegas - Bumper Cars

This condemned casino is ready for the wrecking ball, or did that already happen? Here, the only thing more frightening than the cocktail servers is the constant refrain of “Seven Out!”

Black Widows Cavern - Calico Mine Ride

Dare to enter the old, abandoned mine, now overrun by deadly spiders. Get caught in the web of the horrific arachnids as you travel the train of terror on the old miner’s path of doom.

Pyromaniax - Timber Mountain Log Ride

A fire bursts out on the mountain due to a tragic accident at the resident Moonshine Factory. It seems the locals have been using toxic waste to make their libation, and now the lethal fumes are turning everyone (including the Fire Fighters) into murderous mutants.

Wow... this sounds awesome! Wish I lived in CA now. I used to go to Knott's all the time when I lived there. I'll have to come out again sometime and this is on my list of places top visit (along with DisneyLand and Magic Mountain).

Oh well, I guess Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando will have to do

I'm working in Pyromaniax this year.

They have me working EVERY SINGLE FREAKING NIGHT OF HAUNT.

It totally sucks because now I can't go with friends or family.
