Default July 17 [VF Park Meet]

Sunday, June 17th
Park opens at 8am

Be there or be square =D

There will likely be a meeting place assigned again at some point during the day and some people will probably meet up outside the gate again before the park opens. More details will hopefully flesh out in the next few weeks, just wanted to get a thread started over here.

I'll be around the gates at 6:00 AM, i hope. I might not be wearing anything VF related, probably just a Splash Mountain shirt, golden mouse ears, jeans, and a small Sony video camera around my neck. I probably won't be able to meet any of you guys though.

I will definitely be there on the 17th. My family and I will be driving from Oregon on Saturday and I'm hoping to get into SoCal either late Saturday or VERY early on Sunday and they are just going to drop me off. I'll be able to come up with a more definite time as the date gets closer.

I am for sure going to be there on the 17th. I will get there Saturady, hopefully early. I am staying at the Ramada Maingate on Harbor. I plan to be at the gates as early as possible, maybe 3 or 4 am. I will have my gold mouse ears on, with the name Crystal embroidered on them. I look forward to meeting you all:)

There were two groups that met up outside the security gates, one on each side of the esplanade. We kept in contact via cell phones and finally got together at gate 13 (At least I THINK it was gate 13). We basically hung out together the rest of the day and at 2:00, we met a couple more at the Innoventions exit gate. Overall, we had a blast, enjoyed each others company, had a couple of meals together, and watched an awesome firework show.

Personally, I'm going to be there (I can feel myself getting ill as we speak). I most likely will not be staying real close like I did on May 5th. But I will be there early. I wish we could bring the May 5th thread over here so others could read up on just how much fun it was...

As for the lines, DaddyB started the Harbor Blvd side at 3:00 am and he had company at 3:15. I showed up at 5:30 with a line already over 100 people long. By the time the security gates were opened (7:00 am), the line was easily over 500. They had opened the DTD side security gates about 10 minutes before our side was opened. By 7:30, the line was halfway through the esplanade and by 8:00 it was past the California letters and starting to double back. (We were second in line at our gate) It wasn't until 8:30 or 9:00 that they let us in the gates.

I hope this helps...

I'm not going to be able to go on the 17th anymore. I already told you guys why, my mom canceled at the last minute. I was going to stay at the Del Sol Inn just across the street. We're are now going to go to DLR in November. I'm going back by my self in September. Well, have fun there at the 17th, guys!

Disney is calling people with reservations for lunch at the Blue Bayou on the 17th to tell them that they need to arrive at the park early as they expect the gates will be closed very early in the day, reminding them that reservations at the BB does not guarantee entry into the park if the Fire Marshall has ordered the gates closed (meeting capacity).

Even though I was at the park on May 5th, does anyone know if they had to close the gates?

I've heard no, not once. People went out to DCA and back just fine and many people left until a time closer to the fireworks.

Guessing July 17th crowds is still a gamble, even May 5 didn't hit capacity with no AP blockouts, but the oddsmakers are still placing maxxed out crowds as the heavy favorite.
