Amazing!

I'm curious though, is it possible to make a cheap digital camera be able to make the background "fuzzy" and the main "point" in the picture amazingly clear?

Quite possibly. First, you'll need to do this in daylight. Flowers in the shade can still work, but it's pretty much gotta be daylight around the area.

Put it into "manual" mode (if it has one) and choose the lowest "Aperture" number possible.

Then ZOOM in on your subject as much as you can and take the shot. You may back away from the subject several feet in order to make the "zoom" work best.

It's the low (actually it's called "high") aperture that makes the "depth of field" very small. You may notice that I tend to overdo it sometimes, and even parts of the flower that is the centerpiece of my picture are out of focus!

I'd like to add that the one thing I see SO often is people trying to get the camera lens right up to the item they're taking a picture of. USUALLY it's much better to use the zoom of your camera to get in close, but your body to be several feet away from the object. This is especially true on Craiglist and ebay. Folks try to get so close to a small object the camera can't focus on it! So they end up putting up a terrible picture (and blame it on the camera!). If you back away, and zoom in, the camera can focus on what you want in the picture, and you can still get "close up" to it.

Most of my flower pictures are taken with a 200mm lens!

Yay! I'm excited now! I'm going to try this and see how it works!! (is ISO the same as aperture? I don't have a specific Aperture setting..)

ISO is not shutter speed. "Shutter speed" is shutter speed. ISO is your FILM speed (I know, I know... it's a holdover from film cameras). The higher the film speed, the better able you are to take pictures in less light... but also the more noise (like snow on your TV, only colored) you get.

What make and model of camera do you have, my friend?

Thanks for the great update! The clarity of your pictures is amazing, it makes me feel like I'm actually there.

I have a Sanyo VPC-T850 8.1 megapixels

I found out how to use the apeture.. I'm just playing around with different settings, and like I've said before, practicing with the carnival rides and such at the fair.

But thanks for you help!

The one of the little girl on Big Thunder Mountain made my day, reminded me of a shot I took of a friend a few years back on the same ride. Great update!
