Happy Birthday Richard Sherman!
Today is Richard Sherman's 78th birthday. For those of you who don't know, he is 1/2 of the Sherman brothers songwriting team, responsible for songs from Mary Poppins, The Happiest Millionaire (one of my faves), It's A Small World, The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room, There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow, and MANY others!
Happy Birthday to an AMAZING man!!!! Can you imagine Disney without him and his brother????

I couldn't imagine a Disney legacy without the Sherman Brothers, because they created such songs as "There's a great big Beautiful Tomorrow","Feed the Birds(Tupence a bag)","Its a Small World after all", and of course the very famous "A Spoonful of Sugar". Happy birthday Richard Sherman, and may your legacy at Disneyland, and at other disney parks celebrate your songs because they are infamous to the heart and soul of every child at heart.

Did you know they also did the music for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang--a non-Disney film? Their talent is enormous!! Happy Birthday Richard!!

A bit of trivia for you: Their father is novelty songwrited Al Sherman who wrote Camp Grenada Hello Mudda, Hello Fadda....
They had no interest in song writing until their father bet them that they couldn't write and sell a song to save their lives... so they did! Annette Funichello heard the song and inquired if they could write some cute novelty songs for her... Walt liked her songs and needed a cute song for The Parent Trap... While they were working on that, Pamela L Travers finally indicated a willingness to talk about the rights to Mary Poppins.... Domino Effect.They were very talented, and they happened to be in the right place at the right time. They led a charmed life.
