Default Halloween Costume

Ok so this is early, but I have to start early to make this.
So since Costco screwed us and we can't go to DW in December now (GRRRR) we're going to go to DL instead for Halloween. Since all guests are invited to dress up for the party in DCA, I decided I wanted to do something fun. I am going to be Mary Poppins! I looked online and so far can only find one kinda gimpy costume. However, I figured I could just make one. SO! To Ebay I went. I found:
A black straw hat
a vintage black umbrella
a plastic petshop parrot that looks just like her handle
the granny boots (tall lace up)
a GREAT coat which I will have to replace the lining in to make it red
a carpet bag
vintage white gloves

I got ALL of this for about $60! That's not too bad! I am going to keep my eye out for the blue skirt and a blouse, but if not, I'm going to have to make those. Shouldn't be too hard though! I also need to buy the flowers and cherries for the hat, and bend the brim so it's wavy. I'm so excited though cause all the pieces are coming together! All in all I bet the whole thing will cost about $100. I know, I know, kind of expensive for a costume, but since there aren't any others out there, when I'm done, I can probably sell the thing for twice that! After some research I noticed that there are A LOT of people out there looking for a MP costume!

So is anyone out there going to be a Disney character for Halloween? Any suggestions for my hubby? :)

That depends on your hubby's body type, skin tone, hair color, etc. Offhand, Bert's costume shouldn't be much harder, and then there's a variety of minor characters from the animated movies you could do. Phoebus, Edgar, Cassim, Roger, Wiggins, Kay, Smee, Hook... the list is endless.

I have this awesome blue and black renaissance costume so I might wear that (it was like 250 bucks) and get some vampire teeth and become a vampire. If it was black and red it would look better but this way the blood will really stand out. About two years ago my friend and her boyfriend did something really cool. They each dressed up as the other's fantasy date so he was the Goblin King from Labyrinth and she was Princess Leia in the slave costume lol.

a churro dog! That is awesome! Last year my son was Peter Pan and we made our Dog Tinkerbell. I got one of the cheap WalMart Doggie costumes and "fixed it" then got wings from the build a bear store. She was SO CUTE! I don't know how to insert an image but if you ask I'll tell you where to look :)
I'm thinking I'm going to make my hubby Bert. Nothing too snazzy for him, but since he doesn't seem to care, it will work well with my costume. I gound a suit on ebay for $11.00 including the shipping. I'll just run over it with my car and smear something on it to look like soot..... I'm sure I can make it look good :)

For a while now, I've toyed with the idea of dressing up as Mulan for the Halloween thing at DCA. I figure this is as close as I'll get to being Mulan at the parks. I have a lot of other costumes in the works for anime conventions though, so I'm not sure if I'll have the time/money to do Mulan this year.

The last Disney costume I ever remember doing for Halloween was Tron. It was totally awesome! Me and my buddy bought about $100 worth of glow sticks and after cracking them, glued them to black jumpsuits and helmets we bought earlier. It took a lot of hard work, but it turned out great.

When I was little, my mom dressed me up as Emerelda (spelling?) from Hunchback of Notre Dame, and my sister was the goat. It was hilarious!!! She cried when my mom put the horn-hat-thingy on her head and she threw it off. Classic.....we tortured her....sad....

That's so weird, cause I'm gonna be Jolly Holiday Bert! Apparently he's a popular character around here..

I don't know where to get a costume, though. I guess it shouldn't be THAT hard to find.. it's pretty much a standard barbershop quartet costume with a blue bowtie.

I am either going to go as Indiana Jones or Han Solo this year for Halloween. I have not decided which. Last year I was Captain Jack Sparrow. I was debating to go as him or Barbossa last year.

I'm going as Big Al from the Country Bear Jamboree! I am going to attach a whole bunch of hair to my face, wear a red vest, miner's hat, gorilla suit, black nose, and wrinkles all over my face. I am also going to carry around my broken ukulele and sing songs outside of my house, for the fee of candy. Yum.

Haha! Nice!

I'm not sure what I'm going to be yet, but my sister's being Alice. Last year I was the Queen of Hearts. I suppose I could be The Queen again this year so I could match my sister.

I found a GREAT snow white costume for grown ups. I think I'll do that next year :) I was snow white when I was 4 though and it was super cute. Doubt I can top that haha.
We got Cole a Buzz Lightyear costume this year. I got it on clearance at the Disney Store for $12 and it's totally elaborate! He's excited.
Last year I was a witch cause there was a witches party here in Utah that we were going to go to, but at the last minute ended up not. I got some green and black striped tights for my legs and then made another pair into gloves. I had the black rode and cape and made a few purple and green accessories. It was pretty cute :) Before that, I think it had been about 10 years since I last dressed up..... sad.
