Default Guitar Advice

So, I am thinking about beginning guitar and buying one. So, my question is, Should I start playing Acoustic or Electric? I'm guessing since I'm beginning, Acoustic is the way to go, but I really want an Electric. So, what do you guys think I should begin playing? Would it be anymore difficult if I start on the electric?
Your Advice is welcomed.
Thanks!

If you wanna go electric, pick up a squire strat (they're pretty cheap, but a little better quality than a guitar you pick up in target or walmart). Squire is low end fender stuff. A squire stratocaster should run you about a hundred bucks, it's not a huge loss if you decide you're not into it. If you do stay with it, you'll definatly want to upgrade. For an amp I'd pick up a Line 6 Spider 15 watt amp. they have some awesome distortions and effects built into them, plus you can plug in headphones and an mp3 player so you can jam along with your favorite songs(also a hundred bucks). If you want to go acoustic, pick up an Ibanez "jam Pack". They're like A hundred bucks and come with everything you need (tuner, strings, picks, gig bag). Picking electric or aoustic is all up to you. One is not better than the other. It depends on what YOU want to play. :)

I would Say if you want to play electric, play electric. Buying an acoustic that you don't reall want to play won't get you any where. Electric is also easier on the fingers, the strings aren't as hard to press down. As far as what kind is all up to you. pick a price range go to a music store and look around. look for something that is comfortable to hold and that you like. Have fun.

yeah, that looks like the Squire "Strat Pack"(look around for prices, like on musiciansfriend.com, sometimes that set will be on sale for $150). It's a perfect set for starting out. I reccomend something cheap like that in case you don't stick with it. Also, Epiphone makes some cheaper stuff too. They're owned by Gibson. And my last piece of advice is PRACTICE! pracice practice and practice!Don't rush yourself. Good luck!

I play both, and electric is much easier to me than acoustic, so you might want to start with that. If you mess up on electric, nobody really notices, but if you mess up on acoustic, its noticeable to everyone.

Buying an electric guitar over acoustic because nobody notices mistakes is never a reason to pick one over the other. I have been playing semi-professionally longer than most here have been born. If you wanna pickup a guitar, go to a local store and play a few different of each and base your decision on what feels good to you. There are pluses and minues to both.

And if you pick electric, please please, practice and practice and then practice some more, with the intent of NOT making mistakes. Of course,
you WILL make mistakes, we all do...but stride for perfection.

Buy an electric because your mistakes are not noticeable ? I think not.

Im not saying to buy it because mistakes are less noticeable, Im just saying that they're alot easier to play; the strings are smaller and closer than an acoustic.
