Default Grave of the Fireflies

Oh, wow. I saw this wonderful, beautiful film a while ago, and it is without question the saddest film I have ever seen. I know most of us here have cried at Bambi or The Lion King (don't deny it), but this is the most depressing animated film ever made, and dare I say it, SUPERIOR to every single Disney animated classic. I know, blasphemy, but it's true. Has anyone else seen this masterpiece?

I have honestly never even heard of this - is it a domestically made film? Is it recent?

It's been a while since I last saw it, but I agree - it's one of the saddest films you will EVER see! But the story is told so beautifully and artistically. I'm not sure that I could compare it to Disney films though, because it conveys a much darker and more realistic mood than most Disney films and therefore is in a league of its own.

It's a Japanese animated film. It's quite beautiful and the story is sad.

If i remember right isn't this the one about the two childeren after Hiroshima. Or something like that.

^^Actually, I think the story takes place in Kobe, which is further east than Hiroshima. Still, Kobe suffered a lot from all the bombings of World War II.

This link has some really good information on the movie.
