Default Gosh darn flash photography!

I just got back from my first time at WDW and it was great, though I do have to say it can't compete with the one and only Disneyland. Anyway, I noticed that they seem to have a problem with really rude people using flash photography on the dark rides. Our first night there, some dweeb right behind us in POTC was flashing pictures left and right the ENTIRE ride! Do they not say, "no flash pictures please" on the majority of the attractions there? It was very rude and annoying and I just hope that sooner or later they wise up. I'm pretty sure that we aren't like that down in Anaheim... at least, I hope not. I'm going in 4 days, so I'll check it out. But I do know that it was crazy in WDW and it should stop!!!!!!!

P.S.- They just got "Soarin'" at Epcot, and the whole time people were oohing and ahhing at everything and even cheered at the end, bringing me to the conclusion that everyone NOT from California likes our state a lot better than we do. There is hardly any reaction when on it here. Weird.

Well maybe in Florida they are jealous of us here in California. I would be(if I didn't live in California) The weather is just nicer here and there are no hurricanes or tornadoes(evil) but there are earthquakes(also Evil) but to a lesser degree because earthquakes don't always cause mass amounts of damage and causalites.

And as BrunetteTinkerbell1955 said

Quite a few years back, there was a guy snapping pictures of everything on POTC, ESPECIALLY in the darker areas. My mom turned around JUST as his flash went off, and I saw it happen. So, I took out my camera, set it to "flash" and told everyone in our boat to close their eyes. They all did, and I turned around and flashed the idiot just as he looked toward our boat. He said (loudly) "Ah! He flashed me!"

I'll admit that it took everyone in his boat out with him, but they kind of had it coming too, as they were supporting his stupid antics.

Folks, never do something this stupid in general or in retaliation. *As Jack Nicholson* Don't you be like me!

They probably don't even know it's California. I've heard numerous stories where people thought the Disneyland finale at the end was WDW's Magic Kingdom.

Should've kept California in the title, but nooooo.

Angry

We had the same thing happen on POTC. I asked the guy twice to stop. The second time he flipped me off and said a few words that I should NOT type here!!! Man, I had my 7 year old nephew sitting right next to me plus there were other kids on the boat!!! I was pretty bent, so I had to, you know, instruct him on proper etiquette.

After exiting the ride I caught up to him and his pals and had to try my best to stop myself from doing God knows what to his head. I informed him that his behavour in font of the kids was repulsive (I might have added a few more adjectives in there) and he started cussing me out at the top of his lungs with all the kids around. My nephew was standing right next to me only caring about the next ride we were going to go on next, so I decided to be smart about it and flagged a CM dowm to handle him.

The CM simply asked to speak to him privately and then the guy started going off on the CM! I remember seeing the CM and some other unidentifiable people in suits walking (hopefully undercover security escorting) him away. The next day I spoke to the CM's manager about his exceptional service.

Mean people suck and can be anywhere. I can usually blow off people like that and maybe I should have in this case, but when there's little kids (pretty hard to not have kids around at DL) I get upset. DL is a family place, not some trashy bar!!!

Nothing frustrates me more than people who take flash photos in areas where they have specifically been told not to - like Pirates, HM, etc. That's something I've always been careful of, because it frustrates me so much when other people do it. And yes, I am the kind of person who will make loud, snide comments (albeit ones suitable for a family park, regardless of what I'm really thinking) to whoever's doing it.

I personally find flash photography extremely rude on the dark rides!

Once this lady on Pirates just kept flashing away, with each flash revealing the celing that looms above. There were kids in the boat and I feared it would ruin the show. I asked her to please stop, but she wouldn't. My friend then...raised his voice, and she stopped. Sure, my friend was rude, but it was rudeness with the best intention!

Also, last time I was at Disneyland, someone was messing with a LCD screen on a camcorder in the ballroom scene of the Haunted Mansion. For those who know why, it is obvious that he ruined the show.

I am eternally amused by the people who use flash photography while riding on Soarin. Folks, don't you understand that doing that not only gets everyone on the ride angry, but you aren't going to see ANYTHING when you've developed the film?! Unless you really like pictures of white movie screens, but I can't imagine what you'd like that for.

Yeah, I thought I overheard the fact that no flash photography was permitted on rides...and people still do it. Don't most rides explicitly and formally declare this?

I think that it would be difficult to enforce since I think I have seen the majority of visitors doing it, and Disneyland should not be responsible or held liable for babysitting guests that can't control their self-gratifying impulses like this.

I suppose the best we can do is report those who are rude about it to CMs.

I've been known to flash on occasion... I really don't much anymore, but I certainly can't say I've never done it. I don't do it now because of the very reason everyone has stated... it's just plain erksome when someone does it and you're not.

It's hard to be good when someone around you is being bad... that's where your personal ethics come in. Let's say my personal ethics sometimes fly out the window. Not to be ambivilent about it, but hey, I'm human.

Sometime I'd like to go on a ride with a whole bunch of flash takers and throw caution to the wind and take a whole bunch of pictures. Get tossed outta' the ride maybe, but it might be worth it if the scorn was aimed at the whole group and not just me. (flame away)

Don't forget to that Disneyland AND even more Disney World attracts visitors from all over the world. Not everyone speaks English.

of course, I think most use that as an excuse when they know English quite well enough to know what "no flash photography, please" means.

Somehow I doubt that all the people who break that rule speak no English whatsoever.

I seem to recall that in the Haunted Mansion they have a short track in Spanish about keeping arms and legs inside the doombuggie and no flash pictures. Of course there are many more than two languages now represented in California. People take flash photos all the time in there. I just pretend it's lightning. I do get a sense of road rage when someone does it every 30 seconds throughout the ride though. It would be cool if the spirits exposed all their film (made them forget to take off their lens cap). I have never taken a flash photo inside a Disney attraction. Yep! I'm a saint! ... except for that time I shot people in Travel Through Inner Space with a squirt gun. And then there were the opened mustard packets I dropped from the SkyWay. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the time I dared my brother to get out of the Alice In Wonderland Ride and hop on a different car. I should have known he'd do it! I still can't figure out how he didn't get caught and came out five minutes later in an empty car! Then there was that time we had a cheeseburger eating contest and rode the T-Cups. I'd have hated to be a Fantasyland castmember that day. If I caught my 1970's self doing this stuff I'd kick my backside out!
