I am on a "quest" if you will to watch all the Disney animated films in order (so that I can see the changes in animation style) and today's movie was The Aristocats. Now let me tell you, this movie has been severely overlooked. No, it's not really considered a classic; it fits into that "other" section of the Disney films, the section between the early, now revered classics (Dumbo, Bambi, Snow White, etc) and those Disney Renaissance films (Lion King, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast etc.) as well as even those post-Renaissance films (Brother Bear, Treasure Planet, etc.) Anyways, the point is that this film has been overlooked and its comedy is so witty and so entertaining that it's just plain not fair. If you haven't seen this film (let's face it, most of us, including me up till today, are not familiar with this film) you NEED to see it. It really is one of the best films of the Forgotten Era of Disney films.
--------------------------------------Double post added here.
Admins: This post is long so I made it 2 instead of including it in the above

Anyways, I'm bored so I'll post the different eras of the Disney Animation Canon. Each feature is numbered according to its chronology. Some features appear out of order because they are part of a different classification. But for the most part, the Disney films can be sectioned off neatly. If you consider yourself an amature Disney Film Historian (as I do lol), then this guide is essential:

Early Classics
1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
2. Pinnochio
3. Fantasia
4. Dumbo
5. Bambi
12. Cinderella
13. Alice in Wonderland
14. Peter Pan
15. Lady and the Tramp
16. Sleeping Beauty
17. 101 Dalmatians (iffy...this one has become somewhat forgotten)
19. The Jungle Book
21. Robin Hood (iffy)
22. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Forgotten Era
6. Saludos Amigos
7. The Three Cabelleros
8. Make Mine Music
9. Fun and Fancy Free
10. Melody Time
11. The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
18. The Sword in the Stone
20. The Aristocats
22. The Rescuers
23. The Fox and the Hound
24. The Black Cauldron
25. The Great Mouse Detective
26. Oliver and Company
28. The Rescuers Down Under

The Disney Rennaissance
27. The Little Mermaid
29. Beauty and the Beast
30. Aladdin
31. The Lion King
32. Pocahontas
33. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
34. Hercules
35. Mulan
36. Tarzan

Post-Rennaisance
37. Fantasia 2000
38. The Emperor's New Groove
39. Atlantis
40. Lilo and Stitch
41. Treasure Planet
42. Brother Bear
43. Home on the Range

Well, there you have it. The complet guide to the Disney Animated Feature Canon. Of course all the Direct to DVDs are missing, but that's a whole nother list! anyways, if you're looking for a hobby, watch these classic movies from beginning to end and educate yourself on the art that truly is Disney. There's something to be said about hand drawn animation, and I think Disney's very broad range of different styles is a testament to that very ideal.

Aristocats was always my favourite. I had a "thing" for Thomas O'Malley (and Balloo....hmmm I see a trend!)

The Fox and the Hound. Makes me cry.

Kind of pathetic, but whatever.

Default favorite animation movie

hmmm i have many, so lets begin from the beginning...

1. Fantasia / Fantasia 2000 : most people dont like these movies, but i do.. i love how they merged animation and music together so well, amazing movies in my opinion

2. Little Mermaid - specially since its a favorite of me and my sisters... specially love the 'le poisson' song... always laugh hard at that chef...

3. Beauty and the Beast - another favorite of me and my sisters... beautiful movie :-)

4. aladdin - very very funny...

5. lion king

6. now i am not sure if CG animated is ranked in here, but Dinosaurs...

7. Emperor's new groove - very very funny, until they ruined it with the sequel and the show... :-P

8. Hunchback of Notre Dame - it seems that this is the darkest disney has ever gone, well in my opinion... maybe black cauldron, haven't really watched it in a while, but... saw it when it came to the theaters...

9. Lilo and Stitch - another very funny movie.... specially love that stitch... hyper little alien... heh just like me.. hyper at least!

10. Bambi - love how they captured the wonder of nature so well :P

- one of my personal favorites - not animated in traditional sense, but stop motion animated
- nightmare before christmas.... very good movie, also love how it has the feeling of a broadway musical... very nice, since i am a big fan of
broadway musicals also.

Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid. I also really liked Atlantis (I was fascinated by the art) and can't make it through Lilo and Stitch.
