Default The Emperor's New School

Has anyone caught the first episode of the new series? What did you think?

Personally, I have quite a number of mixed emotions concerning the show.

In general, I thought it was entertaining. I did chuckle a few times to myself now and then. It's something I would watch on a regular basis since I'm a fan of The Emperor's New Groove.

However...

First thing that caught my attention: lack of David Spade. David's voice completely makes Kuzco's character, obnoxious and self centered. Of course some of the original actors may turn down to reprise their roles but I note that I recall hearing his voice for the direct to DVD sequel of Kronk's New Groove. And it's not like David Spade is doing anything busy - face it, without Chris Farley he's alone and useless.

The idea of Kuzco going back to school confused me. With the small previews I've seen, I was expecting some type of Hercules ordeal: the series woudl take place before the movie actually occured. I was wrong. The show roots itself after the flick. I wonder how Yzma returned back to her scary, wrinkly self. And Kuzco has a crush on a girl? Seeing as he did reject those ladies in the beginning film and all, that surprised me.

Third disappointment were the use of jokes. They pretty much recycled everything from the movie and slapped it to be series friendly. So instead of "Llama face!" I heard "Loser face!" and "Bunny face!" Not to mention it opened with Kuzco in rabbit disguise feeling sorry for himself, tracing back to the original llama situation in the movie. For some reason, Kuzco returned back to his egotistical self. Then again one wouldn't be able to shake habits that easily so I could understand that. I have a feeling that every other episode, Kuzco will be turned into another animal and manages to pass at his classes to Yzma's dismay. Great.

The animation is a little cheap but I'll forgive that since Kronk made me laugh a couple of times during the show.

Yep.

I personally liked it, I know the voice of Kuzco isn't the great David Spade, but I was rather charmed by the guy who does the voice for him(who is Curtis and Mr. Hackit), but I was rather surprised that Yzma is Eartha Kitt still and of course Patrick Wharburton is the ever popular Kronk. I am actually looking forward to the next upcoming episodes, the only series on the Disney Channel which I have to complain is American Dragon:Jake Long, but thats another story. But other than that I really enjoy The Emperors New School.

i caught a few minutes of it. that was all i needed.

that's what disney does with the tv shows. i mean, come on. look at lilo and stitch. i don't think that lilo was intended to be as weird as she seems in the show. she's just a lonely little girl, that's all. what also irritated me was that they took everything that was cute about that movie and vomited it all up again.

Should I stay home and watch a show i've never seen before and really want to see it, or go 2 disneyland, a place that i've been to hundreds of times................. well DUH!!!! Go 2 Disneyland, thats more important than a TV show. But i'll watch it whenever I get the chance.

I seriously think this show would go right down the tube in a month or two, I don't like it but it's getting good responses

It was hilarious! I like the part when Kuzco did a doodle thing when he and his girfriend are fighting at the squirrel and when the squirrel went flying Kuzco say, "Then, he go WHEE!" Okay, you made me think I'm weirdo for saying that word, because I love that word.

I think I just saw it this morning. I usually laugh when I know Kuzco is being voiced by a different person.

I am disappointed that David Spade is not doing the voice of Kuzco. Somehow, the voice doesn't seem to fit with Kuzco. But, I do kind of like the series. I'm willing to watch it, but not be one of my favorite shows. I would also like to know, why is Kuzco living in Pacha's (I can't remember his name, but I think this is it) house instead of living his palace.

i saw a small part of it and i'm not too crazy about the animation (it looks like a simple version of the movie animation, almost like it was drawn in 3rd grade) and i don't like Potcha's voice (not John Goodman) and Kuzco's is not David Spade, but it sounds kinda sorta close but not really...anyways, i probably won't watch it cuz the Disney Channel is too i don't know what these days (i wish it was like it was a couple of years ago).

honestly, this is probably one of the worst shows Disney ever created. All the jokes are corny, except for an occasional one.

I'd totally agree with what jagfkb is saying about this new show. Completely showing everyone that Dinsey is starting to enter the "running out of ideas" phase in their course to be the best.
