Why does it matter if it was downgraded...whatever happened happened. A quake is a quake.

There was an abc7 news camera there at DL and they showed DL after the quake near the Rivers of America. Everything looked good.
I think it hit Catalina Island too. Disneyland sure has great procedures for emergencies!

I think DL was built for the earthquake standards kind of like WDW is built to withstand hurricanes. I heard that the facades in Disney's Hollywood Studios was built to withstand about a couple of hundred miles of wind.

I feel sorry for the people who went to DL today. I hope that they would get something out of their memorable day at Disneyland.

I was in Costco and a large pipe broke above my head showering down sparks over my family's head, my grandma grabbed on to my little brother for protection lol. News reports about Disneyland sound like this: "I was in line for the Astro Orbitor with my son and the rocket circle was coming to an end and the top of the tower made a clanking metal sound. I though it was part of the ride but we started swaying to."

"We were in the Golden Horseshoe when the chandelier started shaking. We are from Texas and we thought it was part of the show until one of the actors screamed, 'Everyone under the tables!'" Pretty scary. Those are the stories as told by Yahoo and CNN news.

I was on Midway at that last stop at the final curve to the station when the monitor in the tram turned off and a voice said the ride stopped. We were evacuated a little afterwards. I'm not sure if I felt any shaking.

I didn't even feel it, yet people did WAY north of us. Weird. Rest of my family did though. On ABC7, there was a dude at DL talking on the phone. I think he was in line for Screamin', but not sure.

I was walking out to play Ping Pong with my cousin. As soon as I started walking out the door, the earthquake started. When I got to the garage, a whole 10 feet away it had stopped. My cousin and I both didn't notice it, and stared playing. A second later, my grandma and other cousin (We were at my grandma's house) came out and asked if we felt it. I looked up and saw the lights swaying. Can't belive I didn't feel it

Anyone remember the Northridge quake? We were pretty close to the epicenter of that one.

If anyone was on Orange Stinger or Golden Zeypher...does it just stay still during an earthquake?

As a former resident of Downey CA. I am no stranger to earthquakes, Northridge, sylmar, Whitter etc... I never got used to them. There is something unsettling about the solid ground beneath your feet moving, very freaky. I have family and friends there like a lot of folks and am glad there were no injuries or major damage. I do know Disneyland has excellent emergency procedures in place, as a former employee we were all made aware of what to do to help guests, keep people calm and keep order. For folks from out of state who have never experienced an earthquake, the Disney castmembers will do their usual fine job of helping them cope with it. Kudos to all Disney cast members past and present for their fine work with the guests. And I hope this does not keep folks from coming back and enjoying the Disneyland Resort in the future.

We had just left the Anaheim area from our 3 day Disneyland trip and were in Downey area when it hit. We didn't feel it but heard it on the radio LOL. The whole time we were there on the rides we kept saying "breakdown", cause we wanted to be evacuated too. But alas it happened after we left. Glad it wasn't a serious quake that destroyed major property and hurt lives.
