Default Dole Whip at the fair?

Ok, so we went to the local county fair to have some fun when strolling through the food area, we find it… A vendor that is selling Dole Whip’s. No, I did not get a chance to sample the Whip but I will return later tonight to photograph the carnival lights when I do I will report back with a taste test result.

Has anyone else seen this? We attend a couple of county fairs each year and this is the first time I have seen a Dole Whip vendor.

EDIT: After returning to the fair I sampled the Dole Whip and if my memory serves me well it is EXACTLY the same! Only it seamed quite odd to be walking through the fairgrounds instead of walking through Disneyland.

Wow, I always thought that product was exclusive to Disneyland. Maybe although Dole sells it at Disneyland, it owns the rights to it and can sell it wherever they want. Seeing that sign just kind of shocks me.

I'm sure they saw how well it sells at DLR and decided to take it to the fair...

Oh yes... They've had them at the fairs up here... Actually, it was a little weird this year because the same booths listed it just as "pinapple ice cream" and not specifically as Dole, which they had done in years past.

Basically, yeah, Disneyland doesn't know what they're talking about when they say that Dole Whips are only available there and at the Dole plant in Hawaii. That or maybe those are the only permanent locations, leaving open every state and provincial fair in North America.

Nobody owns the exclusive right to sell dole whip. There is even a place for you to purchase the mix. IT has instructions on how to make it in an ice cream maker, or a soft-serve machine, so anyone can sell the stuff if the want. According to Wikipedia it is available at different locations around the United States.

and you can even buy the stuff yourself.

1 quart pineapple juice (Dole)
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups cream
3 cups sugar
milk

Mix the pineapple juice and sugar -- make sure that the sugar is dissolved.
Next add the cream and vanilla.
Pour the whole mixture into the Ice Cream freezer container.
Add milk to finish filling to the "fill line".
At this point simply follow the instructions on your ice cream maker.

OMG! I loved the Sunkist stuff there. We always had to get one. I totally forgot about all that. Wow. I agree, it should be brought back in some form. Those were just as good as a Dole Whip on a hot day. So yummy.
