Default DCA's California Screamin' accident

DCA's California's Screamin' had a really big accident, it happended around 8:00 pm. 2 trains collided with each other, injuring 21 people on the trains. 21 ambulances arrived at Anaheim and lots of firefighters come to help wounded guests out of the trains and went to the hospital. I think Disney is going to sued again. And California screamin is gonna closed for investigations. I saw the news on channel 9. Did you see it on news today? Share your thoughts about the accident happened today in DCA.

I just saw this mentioned elsewhere and went looking... according to the LA Times, it was at least 60 injured.

Personally, I think it shouldn't have happened, but somehow I'm not surprised. Maybe I just have no sense of self-preservation, but I'm not scared off of it at all and I'd still get back on it if they were to reopen it tomorrow morning.

Disney might get absolutely nailed on this one because of the whole no refurbishment thing.

Actually, after reading about it, it was an autopia style love tap... But a train still hit another during loading which is a lot bigger deal than a love tap while everyone's secured.

It wasn't during loading. You can see in this pic that it was on the main brake run:

http://www.nbc4.tv/slideshow/news/47...ws;dm=ss;w=400

Information just seems to be nowhere. The news stations are even reporting that 30-36 people were on a single train, when the trains can only hold 24. They dont want to report news...they want to remind you of ever accident since 1998.

No developments at this time. I've heard news from one hospital that it was mainly adults on the two trains, no major (read: life-threatening) injuries. About a dozen ambulances were on the scene but backstage, Disney security cleared the perimeter and prevented guests from entering within moments of the accident.

EDIT: Mouseinfo.com has video of the press conference: http://www.mouseinfo.com/

I just read the LA times article- it said that only 15 were injured- 13 of which were adults, and there were no serious injuries. The collision happened at the final brake point before the trains enter the station, from the looks of things. Hopefully the ride will be back up soon.

just saw the news on ktla. I heard it happened 6:40 pm today and 48(for both of the trains) were taken to the hospital, but were all minor injuries.

and channel 9 sed 15 people were taken to the hospital...none were badly injured..

and the anchor sed that there was a firework show...was there something I missed that came out or was this just a misunderstanding?

Just back from DCA...

This is most reminiscent of the Big Thunder accident, where a train bypassed the final block zone to enter the station while a train was already in the station (in this case, instead of the station, the accident occured at Zone 8 (which would be the worst zone to have it occur at). There are currently (as of a few hours ago) 15 minor injuries, only 15 people were taken to the hospital, while 16 ambulances were staged as a precaution. 60 people couldn't have possibly been injured (and weren't), as two trains (Purple and Orange in this case) on California Screamin' combine to seat a maximum of 48. The accident is best described as a "fender bender." In the park, Paradise Pier was roped off from the end of Treasures in Paradise to the Cast Member gate, right near Boardwalk Bowl and Games of the Boardwalk. I was at Games of the Boardwalk this evening (as opposed to ScreamCam for instance), so my shift went on as usual (I actually ended up staying overtime). Those at ScreamCam were ER'd, pulled to another location, some who were checking in right after the accident occured were even sent over to Disneyland for the evening. Triton's closed, while the Sun Wheel remained open (Triton and Sun Wheel are on the same rotation). I had a glimpse of the scene from backstage when I was leaving tonight, it did not look bad at all, and in no way was a "big" accident. In any case, this would be DCA's first "real" guest accident.

Remember ... did run tonight, however, the DEP cancellation announcement played several times tonight, and that did not run. The Wave Riders came down the parade corridor instead, a little earlier than 2030.

So basically another story of the media exaggerating the facts to make it worse than it was.

"This just in... everyone in Anaheim has died due to an accident on the California Screamin' roller coaster in Disney's California Adventure. One train was carrying an armed atomic bomb, and collided with another train, causing the bomb to detonate, whiping out all of Anaheim. More on this tragic accident on the 10:00 news..."
