In Batman Begins, it is established that Carmine Falcone was captured and placed in Arkham Asylum. Even when Ra's al Ghul destroyed the Narrows with Crane's fear toxin, it was established later, that Falcone was locked away in the GPD's holding facility in the city itself instead of the Narrows. Also, it is implied in The Dark Knight that he is now in Arkham and Sal Maroni is now the head of the Roman Empire. Furthermore, Falcone wasn't busted out by his own men because the effects of the fear toxin on him were permanent as seen in Batman Begins.
In The Dark Knight, Rachel is killed at the same time Harvey became Two Face. She's not coming back from something like that. Overall, as interesting as the story may be, it doesn't follow the continuity set up by Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Although Two Face is still alive (at the end of the movie, when he fell, his coin landed first but with the "good" side up; the producers have indicated that this is a foreshadowing that he is still alive) he would have nothing to do with Carmine Falcone because his characterization of the villain follows the comic The Long Halloween in which he is a vigilante that uses lethal force and unethical ways to deal with criminals. In the end he becomes a psychopath bent on destroying Batman for not saving him. In other words, he is not the type to align himself with other criminals.

Has anybody yet got the chance to watch "The Dark Knight," the sequel to "Batman Begins?" I watched it yesterday..and I thought it was pretty good. Also, I really thought Heath Ledger did an absolute outstanding job as the Joker! It's too bad that he is gone now..but I am not sure if his performance is Oscar worthy (since it has been talked about) but hey, anything could happen, and it would be pretty cool if he did win it.
So if anyone has seen it, what did you think of it? And how would you compare Heath Ledger to Jack Nicholson? Oh yea..here is a little side-by-side comparison:

Oh. My. Goodness. I loved this movie. I went to the midnight showing, and it was a blast! Ledger's Joker was absolutely brilliant, and I have to disagree with you about the performance not being Oscar-worthy. The perfect role for an insanely talented actor. But every one of the other actors was great, too! There were so many moments that had my heart was pounding, my eyes on the verge of tears, or a huge wave of relief sweeping over me. Best movie of the summer! Alongside WALL-E, of course.

There is absolutely no comparison between Jack Nickolson and Heath Ledger. Heath was FANTASTIC as the joker. I definately think it was an oscar worthy performance.

OK you can't compare the 2 since both movies were not set in the same way. Tim Butrton's was still cartoony as it was still dark where as this version was very dark and not cartoony. Both did great as a Joker. Jack did his Joker more on the lines of Ceaser Romero did where as Heath did his mor eon the lines of the comics themselves. So both did a great job and I love both movies for that.
Now this movie however was just absolutely stunning. I was enthralled from the very beginning, white knuckling my chair and couldn't sit still because it was so captivating. I couldn't have walked away happier as a movie goer than I did that night. I can only give mad props to all the wonderful talent of the actors, the crew and the writers of that movie. I would have to say that this was the best movie I have seen this summer. As far as entertainment goes. The expectations I had for this were not let down nor were they even disappointed for a minute during this film. Someone dug deep down into the darkest rtelms of their sole to pull out the harshest possible things to use in this film and that really grasped the audiences attention as well as the comedy and passion that followed it. What an incredible balance of it all. |

I was worried about seeing this, as I get with every film surrounded in hype, especially remakes (or re-envisionings) but...
This is, hands down, the best film of the summer. Sorry, WALL-E fans. Heath played the Joker so well, I couldn't stop talking about his performance for 15 minutes after leaving the theater. I'm not a big fan of his and I found his Joker to be awesome. Even his "Joker laugh" was perfect. If he doesn't get an Oscar nod, the academy needs a group enema. The few faults: Christian Bale's gravelly Batman voice is a bit over the top at times, Maggie Gyllenhaal's performance could've used a dash more emotional caffeine, and Harvey Dent's post-trauma face needed more flesh to account for how intelligible his speech was. Pretty minor stuff really. This is the only film I've seen this summer where, at the end, the whole audience applauded with real enthusiasm instead of a smattering of courtesy claps. .:Magic1:. |

I've yet to see The Dark Knight. I tried yesterday. Holy geez, it was like Woodstock at the megaplex. There was a big line to buy tickets, a huge line to buy popcorn & drinks & a colossus line waiting to get inside the theater. How did you guys manage to get in? Pre-tickets perhaps? But anyways I'm trying again this afternoon & hopefully I'll get in. Wish me luck!

I heard on TV this morning that the theatres in NYC are sold out until some obscure time of day on Wednesday.
We don't seem to be having any problem with that here, but then again, that is massive New York.

I went to see it last night...nothing short of amazing! Ledger out acted Bale on the screen, and the movie didn't slow down until the credits. The acting was great, the effects were phenomenal, and the story itself was excellent. Overall, I give it 5 stars.
