Thumbs down Cedar Point makes it 17 with Maverick

Some of you may have already known this, but Cedar Point tore down "White Water Landing" Log flume at the end of the 2005 season for a Mystery Project. In May of this season, Red Intiman track started showing up. The Park has officially announced the coaster will be called Maverick and has all of the details on its website.

Here is the Onride animation

I am kind of excited about this one. It looks really cool. I am not a big fan of the huge, in your face, extreme coaster that is all the rage (although this one will have a 95 degree drop – yep, not a typo – 95 degrees!). Although I live in Texas, I was born and raised in Cleveland and we take a trip to visit family every summer – we include a stop at Cedar Point each year.

I have no basis for this, but I believe the log ride will ultimately make a reappearance. When I was there this year, everything except the loading/queue area was gone. In the animations on the Cedar Point website, it looks to me like some form of log ride (with a different layout) is visible in the background. It looked too close to be Snake River Falls – but who knows…..I am probably wrong!

NO!!!! Not Geauga Lake!! Well wait...it is not Geauga Lake's fault that Busch sold Sea World to Six Flags who turned a great park into a Six Flags then sold it to Cedar Fair who plowed it under....but I digress...

Can you tell I am not happy about Sea World's demise? I worked there five years...it was a great little park that has been relegated to a footnote in history (unless you count the Wikipedia entry on Sea World where the majority of the article - at least the last time I looked - was about Sea World of Ohio).
