Post California Brush Fires

Brush Fires are burning in Southern California. The Air Quality were I live is really bad. There is alot of smoke and falling ash. I have not been evacuated . I live between Agoura and Thousand Oaks and so far the fire has not gotten close to my house or my neighborhood. But my prayers are with people who live in the line of the fire. I think that Executioner lives in Simi Valley and I hope that he is alright. I hope that everybody is ok and that the Fire Department gets everything under control. They are doing a great job right now but. I am crossing my fingers becuase this is very scary.

Thanks for your concern. I am ok. I hope everything will be ok on your end. It took me 2 hours to get home last night since the freeway was closed. Burbank to Simi Valley via Victory Blvd across the valley floor and go down to the 101 just after Topanga Canyon and drive through Agoura to Thousand Oaks to Moorpark and back to the end of Simi that is on fire. What a sweet drive. Anyway, the fire was up on the hill mostly in Box Canyon which if anybody has not gone through is a pretty cool drive until now and full of movie and tv history. By 2 in the morning the fire had moved along the hills to the halfway point of Simi. Pretty fast. Fortunately the freeways were open this morning. I feel really bad for the people in Box Canyon that lost there homes cause it is a very old and beautiful place. The fire is not over yet and is between Simi and Agoura in the hills. I think Oak Park is also in the path of the blaze. Prayers to all in and or around the fires.

If you need to evacuate my door is open. There is not much room, but I am glad to help.

Yeah, I remember those! I have pictures where there are huge clouds of smoke in the air and the sky is reddish orange. I remember how awful it was to have to go outside and breathe in that air and have ash falling from the sky. The fire came really close to my house and they were telling us we might have to evacuate if the fire jumped the freeway. It was SO scary! So, I know how it feels to be in that situation and I hope everyone will be safe!

My Dad lives in Oak Park and got the knock at 2:00am - evacuate time. They got back into their neighborhood a short time ago. No damage other then soot. The fire came down the hill but the fire teams stopped it. I'd guess about 150yds from his house - close but too close.

That is really close. I am glad that he your Dad is ok. The fire teams are doing a tremendous job from what I have been able to see on the TV. Hope that everybody stays safe and if you are told to evacuate you do so.

Glad to hear all is ok with your dad. These fires can get so unpredictable especially with theses Santa Ana winds. at least the winds have died down. I'll be glad when this is over.

The winds have shifted and are now pushing the fire back to where it came from. My brother called and he lives closer to the Santa Susana Pass road that parallels the 118 and he said they have begun to drop fire retardant over there to get ahead of it. This is not over yet, but the winds can change again.
