I had this thought come to me while watching Charlie and The Chocolate Factory this weekend (great movie, by the way!). One of the DVD features talked about Roald Dahl, the writer of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and other wonderful children's stories (i.e.: James and The Giant Peach). They said how he was a man who usually did things the way he wanted (when they spoke of him staying in the hospital, he had wanted to smoke a cigar and proceeded to hang his head out the window of his hospital room smoking a big stogie):
That got me thinking...lately, I've been fascinated with the men of yesteryear who defied all, risked everything, and gained all in return. The men who said, "My way, no highway option." The two who first come to mind is of course, Walt Disney, and the second would have to be Howard Hughes. These men were true pioneers of their time, breaking new ground in their respective fields that left the world baffled in their time. And then I thought of something else: who, in this time, can you think of that has truly done something like this? Who are the Walt Disney's, or the Howard Hughes' of our time? Who can you honestly say has taken the concept of an idea, raised it to the next level, then went above and beyond that where you just stand there, speechless?

Maybe you could call Stephen Speilberg the Walt of our time. :)
