Y'know what I hate about news articles like this? The fact that, after they tell you what has happened, then they give you a slight re-cap of previous events related to a person, place or thing.

For example, they just HAD to include that bit in there about Mission Space, didn't they? To me that just seems demoralizing.....

Doesn't sound like it was related to anything Disney has done, though. But, it's still too early to tell.

Well, I hope they find out the cause. God bless that little girl.

How very sad, but from what I can "get" out of the article, it really doesn't seem like it was caused by Disney, but the way they word it & add in the quip about the other death, they sure try to insinuate it. Poor family, looks like another one of those unknown medical things that could have happened anywhere. God bless the family.

^ I know, it's so scary. It's like she was fine and then she was dead. I can't even imagine being that little girls family. That is my worst nightmare, just to have my son drop for no apparent reason.
I do wish they wouldn't pick on the Parks, though. With the amount of people through there every year, things are bound to happen. Do they report every person hit by a bus? Here in Portland they barely tell you about fatalities in highway colisions.

going to disney on the 5 freeway is more likely to kill you
than actually being in the park. but they never report on how
many people die on the freeway and roads surrounding do they?

The only positive is the lines will be shorter again this weekend.

It always seems the media is out to make the good guy look bad. You don't ever hear a breaking news story about how many millions of people lives Disneyland has forever changed in a positive way. Or how many millions of people have ridden rides safely at the park and had the time of their lives at the park for over 50 years!!!

She wasn't on a ride. She was by the side of the pool. Life guard checked on her and she said she was alright, then she fainted. They called 911 and did CPR. This is a terrible, horrible thing that happened. But it could have happened anywhere.
God be with her family.

"But to calm any public jitters about the resort's safety, Disney would be best served by bringing in an unbiased expert or a consumer advocate group to vouch for their investigations, said Aaron Kwittken, CEO of the New York-based public relations firm Euro RSCG Magnet.

"I think that what they're doing right now is they're reacting by incident," he said. "They're at the point right now where they have to be more proactive. That's what shareholders and consumers expect of them.""

This from Yahoo news. Two things I noticed in the article: They listed all four deaths this year with only a minor note that two were health related and had nothing to do with the park and this guy they are quoting listed shareholders first as the important reason for investigation. Shareholders.
This whole article made me mad. "Disney is bad and evil and kills people and costs it's shareholders profits!"
Really! Why must they take a tragic situation and make it needlessly worse!

CNN said that the girl was laying on a ledge, out of the water. I'm wondering:

what was the temperature for the day? Perhaps this girl was winded or suffering from exhaustion, or maybe suffered a severe heat stroke.

I can't imagine something like this was Disney's fault. It's just the media blowing it out of proprtion, as always. Now they'll probably shut down the wave pool, drain it, conduct an investigation, find nothing wrong....

It's getting old, people.

That is why I don't watch the news except for the weather. They never have anything nice or good to say, and when they do they make you wait and string you along through terrible news of death, destruction and dismay, then they give 2 seconds of a nice story and look at the cameras with their fake plastic smiles. The weather channel is the only good news station, especially if you only watch it for a few minutes to get your local weather and done. Maybe the girl had a severe allergic reaction to something she ate or drank. More than likely it was a a severe heat stroke. I feel sorry for her family, but where was the people that took her to the park? Were they not near her when she went to lay down? The first thing I do when I am feeling overheated is to find some shade or air conditioning, water, freezer, fan, anything to help cool me down so I won't faint. All I can think of is, where are the Jiminy Cricket saftey cartoons we used to watch when we were young? Kids should still be watching. That and Tom and Jerry.

Ya know, Disney needs to start posting the whole "proceed/enter at your own risk" thing. C'mon. People need to start being responsible for their own actions. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the family. However, people are angry with third parties because they don't want to be responsible. If it is that hot, then you need to be hydrated. As with all of you we don't know all of the details, but the press doesn't need to insinuate that it's Disney. I feel that insinuation was stronger because they brought up the Space thing. I don't even hear of local stuff as much as I hear about Disney. For example, we always go to the water park over here. Well, didn't hear a word of a drowning in the lazy river. Next thing I know you can't swim in it you have to have a tube. Upon inquiring, another guest told me of the drowning. Yet as soon as something related to Disney comes about (all the way from Florida no less!) you hear it first thing. The press totally trades on the Disney name for ratings (obviously, painfully, expensively at Disney's expense).

The CM must have breathed poison into her lungs! IT'S ALL DISNEY'S FAULT! SUE! SUE! SUE!!!!!

In all seriousness, anytime a 12yr old dies, for anything, it's a tragedy. What we have to remember is that death is just a part of life, a very sad one but it is one. This wasn't anyone's fault & it would be stupid for Disney to have to suffer for this. Losing a child is one of the hardest things any parent will ever have to go through.
