Exclamation Your Dream Disney Resort, Open Brainstorming

Since late August or so, I've noticed that this particular portion of Visions Fantastic has been rather dead, or what I should say is quiet. Now I understand school has started and everyone's busy once more, no one has time to Imagineer ideas like they used to, and I can totally understand that. I've started school too and so far I am already crammed with work and little or no free time. With the school play and choir concert coming I've got barely any time to do my homework and I've been unable to visit as much as I used to. I've also noticed that I seem to be running out of ideas for threads and attractions. I mean my imagination isn't dead, heavens no, it's just I feel as if I've done everything I could possibly do on here. But then just today I realized that I haven't.

Overlooking the plans for the new Hong Kong Disneyland expansion I realized that the images and powers of our minds are endless. Anything we want can become a reality if we want it to. So that brought me to this. Picture the perfect Disney resort; or at least what you think would be the perfect Disney resort.

So what we'll do is describe in great detail what our perfect Disney resort is, from head to toe. Now we'll each do this individually and post our ideas one by one (Or if you prefer all at once) until everyone who wants to contribute has contributed. Once that is over we will take a look at everyone's projects and take the best things from each one and make one ultimate dream resort for all to enjoy. All of us will be able to contribute to this wonderful resort, and even if you aren't an Imagineer you can suggest ideas and whatnot to those who are. So why not, why not come on down and play the Price is Right? No I'm just kidding this isn't a game show, this is an Imagineering thread. But if you want to join, do feel free to do so.

So in case you don't understand what the rules are, here's what we'll do. Each of you wishing to participate (This isn't a contest or anything) will post a description of your own Disney resort which will feature really whatever you want (You don't have to have a Disneyland if you don't want to, have whatever) piece by piece. Let's say you have a Hollywood Studios at your resort. You would describe it piece by piece starting with Hollywood Boulevard, Animation Courtyard, Pixar Place, etc. If you are familiar with KingMickey's Ultimate Disney Resort thread that's kind of what it's like, post descriptions of his park's land like that. Just don't copy his ideas because that's not cool. As a matter of fact don't come in here bringing a full blown copy of an Open Brainstorming thread you've worked on before. Now I'm not saying you can't bring your favorite ideas from that thread over here, just don't bring the whole thing word for word. So if you are interested feel free to post and ask any questions you would like. I'll start posting my ideas tonight or in a couple of days. I hope to see you all then.

I'm hoping this thread will get this forum pumping again and hopefully pull in some new blood to the Imagineering world.

Forgive me if it's against the rules to try and fish in new members or try to get a forum pumping again. Just tell me and I'll be warned and punished if needed.

I'll try to contribute as much as I can MEW, but you're right, school eats up a lot of time, be it high school or college. And I'm volunteering at the TV station, and I'm a wing senator for my dorm, and a member of the delegation for the housing conference we're hosting... I'm getting pretty busy, but I think this is a cool idea, us being able to post dreams for resorts or things in resorts.

Here's my first idea: I want a restaurant somewhere in this resort that is geared towards adults and families with older kids (12/13+). Not too high-strung, but not filled to the brim with families with small kids... something a little quieter and classier than that. I'd like it to be themed to Fantasia or just Disney in general, with different rooms being different numbers (Sorcerer's Apprentice, Dance of Hours)/movie motifs (Love/War or ocean/forest/city. A diverse menu with exceptional chefs behind it. Maybe have a bar/club attached.

I also want a resort/hotel with several buildings, each with movie themes BUT I want the theming to be much more tasteful and subtle than All-Star Movies. A coastal building for The little Mermaid. And ottoman/arab-style for Aladdin. Mediterranean for Hercules, etc... and let each have it's own restaurant with food to match.

That's my starters, anyway...

so basically, we pitch an idea of a Disney resort? with no park-copies of past parks we've done? shame, I wanted to work on Worlds of Adventure again because it was so fun. Well, perhaps we could do a new one with a whole land dedicated to my favorite cartoon on Disney: Phineas and Ferb.

Alright, so I shall start with Disneyland.

Main Street, USA

You walk in the gates to see the ever famous Mickey planter. This small area is pretty much dedicated to Mickey, complete with marble busts of him surrounding the planter.
Be sure to catch the Disneyland Railroad. Just in front of the Mickey head is the dedication speech. You soon pass under the archway, past attraction posters and into Town Square. To the right is The Main Street Concert Hall, where the live stage show, Fantasia: A Musical Masterpiece plays daily with segments completely based off segments from the Fantasia films, as well as new segments, with some playing on screens, with others being performed live, as well as combinations. If you linger around the street long enough, you may even get caught in the middle of the Disneyland Electrical Parade or Disney's Jubilee Dream Train, the latter of which celebrates the films of Disney, Pixar, and Jim Henson. Or maybe, if you prefer refreshments, try something such as the Refreshment Corner or Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor. Shopping? Try Davis and Crump's, the Main Street Emporium. There are plenty of other shops, but it's pretty much a combined version of every Main Street out there. This Main Street is like a Main Street of any state and city, complete with the Haunted Mansion. Here, guests board Doom Buggies and go through a chilling challenge to find away out! If you don't like the idea of spending the night in the mansion, try staying the night at the Main Street Inn instead. Here, guests can really spend the night, and even non staying guests can enjoy the restaraunt services. This Main Street is completely complete with a county fairl!

the Main Street County Fair

This county fair is basically a county fair, but with the same Disney effort put into it. There's a petting zoo, some midway games, and a corny version of the Haunted Mansion, where the owners only want nothing but to scare you, called, House of Doom.

As you head to the hub, there's a statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, with Disney character busts surrounding the statue. The fountain is even surrounded by some dancing waters, creating for a nice park just before Sleeping Beauty's Castle

You can use the same theme park idea for your park and include attractions from it as well, just don't make it a carbon copy of every last detail. Like you know how Walt Disney Studios at Paris and Hollywood Studios at Florida are pretty similar with almost the exact same theme? Well both are very different parks, so you can do something like that if you'd like.

So I will start with my own version of Disneyland of course. I plan on having another theme park, two hotels, and a shopping area. I'm also considering a water park, but that's just a maybe.

MAIN STREET, U.S.A.

Passing through the turnstiles we are greeted by the ever-famous Mickey Mouse planter whom grins at us as he does at pretty much every other Disney theme park around the world. A new twist has been added to this planter though, as in most parks Mickey's face is squashed and purple, the Mickey face in this park is based more off the Mickey face seen in the intro to classic Disney cartoons, the same face seen across the front of Mickey's Fun Wheel at California Adventure.

As usual the Mickey Mouse planter fronts and leads up to Main Street Station which is the first of three stops for the Disneyland Railroad. The station closely resembles the one seen in Walt Disney World but with a new look. The building is much darker in tone with a pine-green roof, dark and rain-worn bricks, several black smudges in the cracks and crevices, and dark grey window frames around the windows.

Passing beneath the tracks of the Disneyland Railroad and into a small dark tunnel, we pass various colorful posters advertising the many adventures found ahead of us in the park, including the Jungle River Cruise, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Splash Mountain.

Stepping out into the light we find ourselves in the middle of a turn-of-the-century Midwestern...town? This can't be right...this doesn't look anything like the usual Main Street. But still our trusty park map labels this portion of the park as Main Street, U.S.A. Well there is only one logical explanation for this and that is that this isn't the Main Street your mother visited as a child, but the Main Street you will tell your kids about in the future. Say hello to the new Main Street, a New York City street around the year 1928.

Now judging on the fact that these pictures were taken from the American Waterfront portion of Tokyo DisneySea, all the buildings would be sized down a bit more and put into the forced perspective so they don't dwarf anything else in the park. But judging as this will be the biggest Disneyland-style park out there, perhaps the buildings will stay the same size as they are in the pictures. And of course all the signs would be changed, there would be no big Tower of Terror in the background, the buildings would all be situated different, and there would be a big castle at the end of the street fronted by the ever-famous Partners Statue.

Over to our left is City Hall, which features restroom facilities, a first aid center, the guest relations department, and a dog kennel and storage unit. Next door to City Hall is the Broadway Palace Theater, a spacious and elegant theater hosting a forty-five minute presentation of Enchanted: A Magical Musical every two hours. This Broadway-style musical retells the story of Giselle as she makes her way from the world of fantasy and into the world of reality, featuring two new songs composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice!

Over on the right side of the street is the First Bank of Main Street which is a cleverly disguised ATM machine and annual passport center. Next door to that is the Hall of Presidents.

Inside this dutch-colonial building (Which would also be given the rain-worn Big Apple look) is a rather educational attraction playing home to every single president of these United States in the audio animatronic form. The preshow features a small waiting room with historica; fact cards and presidential busts, along with a short video telling of the struggle to unite the United States under God, with liberty and justice for all. The show itself features as said before audio animatronics of every president to grace the White House since the founding of this country. George Washington, the current president of the United States (Whoever it may be at the time) and Abraham Lincoln would all give a short yet moving speech.

The main portion of Main Street itself is filled with shops and restaurants, including the Main Street Department Store which takes the place of the Main Street Emporium seen at other parks around the world. The Department Store features a wide variety of toys, books, movies, clothing, candy, knick knacks, decorations, costumes, postcards, and CD's, all in which sell like hot cakes when the time comes for the park to close. Other shops include Fargo's Palm Parlor, a magic shop based off of the unused Museum of the Weird concept where you can get your palm red, Atencio Books and Music, the Main Street Pawn Shop ("Buy, sell, and trade new and used items!"), Big Apple Clothing Limited, Steamboat Willie's, a toy shop showing classic Mickey Mouse cartoons of the day, Blair's Jeweler's, and the Davis Art Studio, where one can buy paintings and sculptures along with pictures and portraits of themselves. Restaurants on the street include the New York Deli where one can find the best New York-style sandwhiches and pizza around (Yes the sandwhiches are French dipped), Cake Castle, a sweets shop specializing in cakes and ice cream, the Butcher and the Baker, a eatery selling baked goods and meat snacks, the Coffee Grinder, Tony's Italian, and Liberty Hall, a corner cafe selling unique American dishes. At the end of the street is the famous Partners statue along with the park's icon, the Beast's Castle. Main Street Vehicles (Omnibuses, police cars, taxis, trolleys) travel up and down the street making their own and only stop outside the castle.

Fantasyland

As you walk the bridge, listen to the classic song, "When You Wish Upon a Star" sung by none other than Cliff Edwards, but backed by a new orchestra. As the song fades away, it becomes a small twinkling, eventually leading up into a grander version, which segues into an orchestral "A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes." The King Arthur Carousel comes into view, with the Sword in the Stone in immediate view. At every hour until sundown, a ceremony to find a temporary king is held, featuring Merlin and Archimedes, along with some special effects.

To the immediate right of the castle is the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough, but instead of small plywood cutouts, this retelling of Sleeping Beauty is a combination of Audio-Animatronics, window displays, and stainglass windows. This is slightly longer than the Disneyland version, thus making it end where the Bippity Boppity Boutique is at Disneyland.

To the left of the exit is where Mr. Toad's Wild Ride stands proudly. Right across the way is Peter Pan's Adventure to Neverland. Though the exterior is reminiscent of Disneyland's, but with a statue of Peter just in front, the ride varies slightly. Just next to that is Snow White's Scary Journey. Right next to Mr. Toad is Tale As Old As Time, a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. One of the last rides in the courtyard is The Story of Quasimodo. Mounted on the wall of the Story of Quasimodo are Interactive versions of Victor, Hugo, and Laverne, who occasionally come to life, but otherwise stay still. At the very courtyard end is Dumbo the Flying Elephant, along with Casey Jr., which takes a small tour of Fantasyland. Near the area where ToonTown usually is in Disneyland is is Gepetto's Shop, where you can shop for wooden crafts and even meet Pinocchio in a seperate room. Next to the shop is the Fantasyland Opera House, where Mickey Mouse Revue plays by day and Mickey's Philhar Magic plays by night. Imediately to the right is it's a small world, where you can sail with the happiest cruise that ever sailed. To the right of small world is the Village Haus restaurant, which offers an experience with your favorite Fantasyland characters. If you go slightly beyond the Village Haus, you may end up in a woodland area, home to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. If you retrace your steps all the way back to the left of Fantasyland, you can enter Wonderland and experience the story of Alice in Wonderland, but be careful not to get lost in Alice's Curious Labyrinth. And what's that? That large mountain? There's a demon up there too! It's none other than Bald Mountain. During inclimate weather, he can retract down inside the mountain. But Bald Mountain isn't the only sign of evil... turns out, part of the Fantasyland village has been under the mountain's shadow for all these years... But it wasn't until Chernabog awoke that sent villagers fleeing. This part of the village even includes the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In this mild dark ride, the Headless Horseman chases you through the village. There's even Stromboli's Theater, where Pinocchio's story is retold, utilizing puppets and live actors. Every September, the show goes down and becomes home to the Nightmare Before Christmas: A Haunting Musical of Christmas Scarols, which utilizes puppets and actors once again, as well as music from the film. There's even Maleficent's castle and dungeon, except it's covered by mountains, thus making it unable to see. There are tons of Meet and Greets with almost every villain imaginable, except for our two heroes, Jack Skellington and Sally. The Haunted Mansion finds a home here, with design similar to Disneyland's, but with the same Florida conservatory. The only difference is that the lawn looks similar to Phantom Manor's, unless Jack takes over near Halloween. When you're near the Lonesom Ghosts' Meet and Greet, there's a small entrance to a haunted part of Toon Town.

I'm in a tight schedule right now so I can't post any lands yet (I still need time to think about them and get every exact detail) but I have come up with parades for my park. There will be three, all of them temporary and seasonal; Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Magic, Halloween Dreams (Dreams crossed out and replaced with "Screams"), and Mickey's Winter Wonderland.

Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Magic

Disneyland Railroad Unit- The parade is headed by an over-sized recreation of a Disneyland Railroad steam engine, fronted by an entourage of dancing engineers and conductors, both of which are male and female. Driving the train is Goofy whom is also dressed as an engineer, moving from window to window and waving at all the happy visitors enjoying the parade. Engineers Chip and Dale frolic in the coal car attached to the back of the steam engine, sharing a humorous conversation as they throw coal at each other. The engine steams, whistles, and hisses as a fast-paced version of "When You Wish Upon a Star" plays, complete with the typical Disney chorus.

Pinocchio- Continuing with "When You Wish Upon a Star" is a section of the parade dedicated to Pinocchio. Giddeon and Foulfellow lead the unit as an oversized Monstro roves the street, his eyes moving about and water erupting from his blowhole. Shortly afterwards a giant smiling Gepetto moves down the street as he controls a pair of bouncing marionettes, both of which are rather large and wooden. A clown doll, a male and female teddy bear, a Nutcracker, a ballerina, and a toy stork dance around the unit as Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio themselves wave and dance from the back of the unit. "When You Wish Upon a Star," "Little Wooden Head," and "Hi Diddle Dee Dee" play as this unit passes.

Finding Nemo and Little Mermaid Unit- Several performers holding fish puppets and bits of kelp and coral parade down the street, along with puppets of Nemo, Dory, and Marlin. Several turtles from the E.A.C. also swim through the street. A large Crush puppet surrounded by forests of kelp and coral swims on a float nearby as more turtles and fish surround him. Crush shouts out surfer words as his float goes by. A few inches behind Crush are two puppeteers controlling gruesome puppets of Floatsem and Jetsem. More fish puppets (This time looking more Little Mermaid-ish) dance around along with giant Manta Rays (Female dancers in large colorful capes) as a large puppet of Sebastian sings "Under the Sea" to a float decorated by loads of coral and static cartoon fish playing different instruments and singing along with the song. Ariel sits on the back of the float waving, along with a puppet version of Flounder and the seagull (I forget his name at the moment). "Under the Sea" is played throughout the entire unit.

Hercules Unit- The multiple-headed Hydra from Hercules prowls the parade route as several performers wear frightening masks baring the likes of the Hydra. Right behind the Hydra is a giant Pegasus float "soaring" majesticaly through the street. Hercules and Meg wave from a top the winged horse as dancers dressed as ancient Greeks dance around the float. Attached to Pegasus' backside are the Muses whom sing "Zero to Hero" which plays throughout the entire unit. Phil shouts commands at the audience from Pegasus' left side while Hades makes humorous remarks at audience members from Pegasus' right side.

Buzz Lightyear Unit- Toy-like robots slowly march down the street twirling their claw-like hands and lightbulb ears as an eerie space-version of "You've Got a Friend in Me" plays. Space Rangers dance down the streets as a giant Buzz Lightyear throws his fist towards the sky. Behind Buzz is a giant rocket (Looks almost exactly like DL's Moonliner) which is currently under maitenance from space helmet wearing Rex, Mr. Potato Head, Slinky, and Hamm. The space toys argue with each other as three animatronic L.G.M.s thank the audience for saving their lives.

Jungle Unit- Performers dressed as animals (Similar to the Broadway version of the Lion King) dance as "The Circle of Life" plays triumphantly. Rafiki slowly marches down the street with his walking stick as the massive form of Pride Rock moves behind him. Puppet Simba and Nala roar and sing from a top Pride Rock as static jungle animals watch from all corners of the float. Puppet Pumbaa and costume Timon wave from either side of the float, Timon on the left, Pumbaa on the right. Colonel Hathi leads the way in tune to "Colonel Hathi's March" as two other elephants hang on to his tail. Behind the colonel is King Louie's ancient city where "I Wanna Be Like You" erupts in a jazzy tune. King Louie, Mowgli, Baloo, and a gaggle of monkeys dance upon and around the float as a puppet Bagheera (Same model as Simba and Nala) blabbers about the nonsense from the back of the float. Hewey, Dewey, and Louie dressed as explorers in pith helmets and Indiana Jones outfits march down the street in a snake-like line, followed by a vacationing Scrooge McDuck and Daisy rock back in forth on vine swings in their jungle oasis. Several tropical birds sing "In the Tiki Room" as Scrooge finds himself smiling, sleeping and unaware within the wrap of Kaa the python whose eyes swirl hypnotically. Where is Donald? Several masked head hunters cheering and hollering to the song they sing in the Jungle Cruise jump up and down with their spears and shields as tribal drums beat, as four of the strongest cannibalistic natives carry a large black pot (Cauldron) hosting a pith-hat wearing Donald whom angrily shouts at his captors from within his little prison.

Peter Pan Unit- "We're Following the Leader" plays as several of the Lost Boys, Michael, and John dance around the parade route. Shortly behind them is the Captain Hook's ship, the Jolly Roger. Captain Hook and Peter duel to the death while several pirates dance along the sides of the ship. Wendy and Mr. Smee look on in terror as an electronic instrumental of the "Elegant Captain Hook" and "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)" plays. Shortly after the Jolly Roger is an over-sized version of the crocodile, patrolling the streets from side to side, snapping his jaws as his eyes glow and his clock ticks and tocks. Tinkerbell and her fairy friends dance along the streets from behind the crocodile's massive six or seven foot tail.

Wild West Unit- "The Farmer and the Cowman" plays as a large western town comes into view, mobile as it is a float. Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye dance in front of the float as several cowboys and the sheriff have a shootout within the walls, windows, doors, streets, and balconies of the western town. Several maidens watch on in horror as the cape and top hat-wearing villain steals the sheriff's gal attempting to hide behind the float in what appears to be a crashed mine train similar to the ones seen on Big Thunder. Luckily the sheriff defeats the villain and saves his damsel in distress from any further danger. Brer Bear, Brer Fox, Brer Rabbit, and the Country Bears dance behind the float as a triumphant fanfare echoes out from the next unit.

Alice in Wonderland Unit- The White Rabbit's cottage (filled with a giant Alice) rolls into view, fronted by an army of marching cards and the pompous Queen of Hearts. The White Rabbit, the March Hare, the Walrus, the Mad Hatter, and a human-sized version of the snobby Catepillar roll by in large teacups surrounding the White Rabbit's cottage. "The Unbirthday Song" and "Alice in Wonderland" play throughout this unit.

Wall-E and Monsters, Inc. Unit- A giant audio animatronic Wall-E roves around the street, introducing himself to the various audience members and becoming utterly surprised at some of the park's sights and sounds. Closely following Wall-E are a giant Mike and Sulley, just about the same size as the Hydra, Crush, and the Crocodile. Both ride a miniature bike as they talk to each other, Mike often complaining about his one eye. "When You Wish Upon a Star" plays once again in a more upbeat disco version.

Muppet Unit- Animal's giant head bursts from the lab of Dr. Bunsen Honeydew as puppet recreations of Kermit, Miss Piggy, Honeydew, Beaker, Janice, Floyd Pepper, Dr. Teeth, Rowlf, Zoot, Gonzo, Camilla, Pepe, Rizzo, Scooter, Bobo the Bear, and Sam the Eagle emerge from sides of the float. Sweetums walks around the float at all points as the various Muppets interact with one another and sing silly and pointless songs. "The Muppet Show Theme," "Moving Right Along," "It's Not Easy Being Green," "Just One Person," "The Rainbow Connection," and "Hey a Movie" play as the unit passes.

Dumbo Unit- A giant Dumbo flaps his ears as an animatronic Timothy Mouse looks down from his over-sized yellow hat. Clowns juggle and dance as animatronic tigers, lions, bears, and rhinos snort and roar from within golden mobile cages as their trainers crack whips and flash swords. Several clowns on unicycles, scooters, and bicycles put and end to the unit. The typical circus theme plays throughout this unit.

Disney Villain Unit- The wretched form of the dragon Maleficent and Chernabog compose a float while multicolored skeletons dance around it. Performers dressed as Ursula, Jafar, the Big Bad Wolf, Cruella Da Ville, Evil Mickey, Pete, the Horned King, the Evil Queen, and Stitch (Hidden by a white sheet with two holes for eyes, typical ghost costume) dance and wave from the float. "Grim Grinning Ghosts," "Poor Unfortunate Souls," and "This is Halloween" play throughout this unit.

Up Unit- Carl's house "floats" down the street as actors and actresses dressed as dogs dance around it. Carl, Russel, and Dug wave from the house's front, back, and side porch as "When You Wish Upon a Star" begins to play again.

Aladdin Unit- "Prince Ali" plays as Aladdin and Jasmine wave from the top of Abu, transformed into a massive costumed elephant whom smiles and stares at the passing guests and members of the audience. Arabian-garbed performers and the Genie dance around the massive elephant as the parade draws closer to the conclusion.

Romance Unit- "Beauty and the Beast," "A Whole New World," and "Some Day My Prince Will Come" play as Belle and the Beast, Aurora and Phillip, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Snow White and the Handsome Prince, and Tiana and her Prince dance around an elegant mobile ballroom. More couples waltz around the float happily and in love.

Walt Disney's Dream Unit- "When You Wish Upon a Star" plays slowly and happily with a moving female chorus (Similar to the version in "Remember Dreams Come True") as several Disney characters unseen elsewhere in the parade the Three Little Pigs, Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, Eeyore, etc.
sway and march in time with the music. The float behind them shows an entourage montage of some of Walt's biggest dreams, including Walt Disney Studios, animation, Disneyland and Disney World, audio animatronics, etc. Minnie occupies this float as she blows kisses and waves. A mobile version of the "Partners" statue follows the float as a static Walt points off into the distance. The one thing different about this float is that Mickey is not a statue, but a real performer whom chuckles and waves to all the happy guests, visitors, cast members, and audience members. As "When You Wish Upon a Star" continues to play Walt's famous speech can be heard echoing throughout the parade route.

"To all who come to this happy place...welcome..."

The other two parades will come soon enough, don't worry.

I like your parade! yeah, I need to redo my park lands because I just made it all up and to me it seems real crummy...

EDIT: I will pull some segments from New Disney Resort's Fantasmic, but will include some new segments and will be arranged so that we can change it for holidays and when new movies come out just like World of Color.
