Default Team A, Dark Ride Project

Ok, i opened it b/c i thought it would be easier for us to communicate through this rather than PMing...

I would like to be the Storyman or the leader, i just cant do the Tech/ Lighting person because i have no clue what to do with it...

First we need to think of a concept... I have several ideas and locations...

But first do you think it should be based on a movie like Pinocchio Daring Journey, or Pooh... OR something original like Maelstrom or its a small world???

Yeah, thanks for your input TrevorA, but this really is just a thread for the teams.

I'm all for the original idea, but if we end up being short on characters, a movie-based ride is the way to go.

agreed... i think that the main "storyman" should be the person who comes up with the idea... b/c if someone else comes up with the idea and someone else writes it i feel that it wouldnt come out as good...

so... should we start brainstorming... i know KingMIckey is still on vacation... lets just each throw out a couple ideas then start thinking...

world is there a specific job you want... as i said eariler i would prefer story or leader b/c i know NOTHING about tech stuff...

either tech or story, leader is great but I don't know if I'm cut out to be that.

Actually, I'm leaning more towards the movie-based idea, just base it on something never done before.

Is there any way I can contact you outside this or PM?

Also, I'm all for a Robin Hood themed ride, as imo it is one of Disney's finest, yet never was recognized in the parks.

Thats a good one...

Do you know when KingMickey is coming back from vacation???

As i said b4 maybe we should come up with the idea... then make the positions from there... so who evers idea we pick will be the story person so they can accomplish "their" goal...

I think Robin Hood is a good idea... where would it go??

Any other ideas...??? so you got my email..

Hey. Sorry, I just got back from my vacation today.

I would happily take the position as Team Leader. Our name will still go undetermined, as of now. It's not the primary focus of the project, ast this point.

The dark ride could be based on a Disney movie, then the ride would have to be somehow thematically connected to the surrounding land and environment. There are hundreds of excellent movies out there, such as Robin Hood, which we are already discussing, that have not received any recognition whatsoever in the parks. I think we should really discuss the huge variety of movies that could provide great attractions before deciding on a definite movie.

Some which I've thought of off the top of my head are Robin Hood, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Pocahontas, Hercules, The Lion King, Aladdin, Tarzan, The Nightmare Before Chistmas, The Jungle Book, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. They're all great films that could be made into an amazing attraction.

However, if we choose to go the "original" route, we could completely go crazy and create a new, immersive experience unfamilar to guests, which could be quite intriguing. What do you guys think?

On a side note, if we were to do a Robin Hood attraction, I think it would probably fit best in Fantasyland (most likely WDW's, there's room for expansion.) But that doesn't limit it to either Fantasyland or WDW. It could be located anywhere.

I think this new attraction should be on the scale of The Haunted Mansion or The Great Movie Ride in scale and theming. We could really make a great attraction for any of the parks.

Tell me what you guys think we should do.

Hello KingMickey...

I think Robin Hood would be a great idea... but i dont think i could do it justice if i was to be the Storyman b/c i have NOT seen it in a LONG time.... and as i said earlier i dont think i would be a very good tech person... So i think we should have the positions lined up once we come to a conclusion to what and where we are having it... Also if we did a NBC attraction i dont think i could do it justice either b/c i have NEVER seen it...

I send world a email... giving other suggestions as well

Like
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty
Enchanted
Lion King
ALaddin

For enchanted i had an idea to have it in DHS's New York Street area...

I also think this should be a grand scale... Like GMR or HM...

I think we should have a trackless attraction, like Pooh's Hunny Hunt at TDL...

What do you think??? I think we should come up with a clear concept or at least theme for the attraction by tomorrow...

As i said earlier... i will NOT be able to get to a computer b/w Thursday July 16 thru MOnday July 20th...

What do you think??

PS: i hope you understand everything and hope you get where i am coming

Well, I haven't seen Robin Hood, so I wouldn't be able to give it justice. I think you've slimmed down the list of movies really well. Now, the main task, is to slim it down to just one.

An Enchanted attraction located in the New York Street/Streets of America area of DHS would be perfect. I'm not really sure how much room there is back there, but I don't think it would really matter. We'll make room if we have to.

There's that empty area of land, located opposite of the San Francisco street, which basically looks at the "suppose-to-be-unseen" soundstages od the Great Move Ride. We could put the entrance of the attraction there, keeping the theme consistent. Or we could locate the attraction somewhere near the Lights, Motors, Action! entrance. Just some hypothetical possibilities.

Trackless is also a great option. Isn't Pooh's Hunnu Hunt the only attraction with that the type of ride technology? It'd be great to bring it into another park.

I think, depending on what type of movie we choose, whether it should be trackless or not. Like, a Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty attraction would most likely not feature a trackless system. It just sticks out a little. But a movie like Enchanted or Lion King would benefit from having a trackless system.

I think the Enchanted attraction could go where the San Fransisco St. THeater is and or maybe where LMA is... b/c LMA is not good...IMO...

I think that Enchanted would be perfect for Trackless....

b/c of some scenes.. especially the THat's How YOu Know and teh Ball room scene...

So how about we do a enchanted attraction.... If we do it i would be perfectly fine being hte "Storyman"...

As another possibilitiy... A Sleeping Beauty attraction, THe Sleeping Beauty Story, would work i think as a trakless... i have this idea to move from scene to scene with "pages" throughout the attraction... but personally i think the best and most unique attractionwe can do that is trackless and have GRAND sets is Enchanted.... it could also be two levels, the animated world, and the live world..

What do you think??

Well many of those movies discussed already have something representing them in the parks.

Cinderella Castle, The Lion King show @ various parks, and Alladin @ various parks also.

Though, the trackless tech. could fit many of these like you guys have said. imo, it suits TLK the best. Let's say Timon and Pumbaa are taking guests out for a "drive" on an African safari, and theyre darting in and out of various places such as to hide behind bushes, rocks, in caves, etc. in order to seak away from the hyenas or other dangers and/or to sneak up on "unexpecting" bugs.

The tech could also be used on Robin Hood, whre guests board small chariots to go "shoot" arrows (via tech similar to the Buzz rides) at villians.

Just some ideas to think about.

Agree with everything stated.

Now, it's just where the attraction will be located. I don't think it should replace the SF theater, mainly because it's new and the area around it is themed to San Francisco, when Enchanted takes place in New York.

I agree with LMA. After seeing it once, I haven't returned. Not that it's the shows problem, there's just quite a bit of flaws. I think it'd fit best here. This area of New York Street always seemed empty, like SOMETHING was supposed to be there, and I think this would be perfect.

You can definitely be the Storyman. I'd still like to be Team Leader.

Should we post the more detailed ideas through PM from here on out?
