Default Splash Mountain Holiday

As I suggested on my Splash Mountain Brainstorm, they should do a holiday overlay at Splash Mountain. What do you think, and what are your ideas??

In my opinion, it would be so nice to see Splash Monutain covered in snow, and throughout the quene, there could be Christmas decorations and all. It would look so graceful. I'm just going to post an idea from MANEATINGWREATH

Quote:
I got it! Splash Mountain On Thin Ice! The new storyline for this holiday overlay is that a freak blizzard has hit the south, resulting in Chickapin Hill becoming a winter wonderland. Inside we find all the scenes covered in snow, while Christmas carols are sung rather than Song of the South tunes. As we round the bend and find Brer Bear and Brer Fox we discover their latest plan, disguise Brer Bear as Santa Claus, Brer Fox as an elf, and trick Brer Rabbit into thinking that the big bear is Santa himself. Of course Brer Rabbit is convinced and he is lured into the "North Pole" (Brer Fox's lair) only to trick the two bullies into letting him see his mad skating skills. Of course they do and the big old rabbit purposely breaks the ice sending us and himself down the final drop. Thus we enter the wintery finale where we find the critters decorating Christmas trees and the riverboat singing a combination of "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." Of course the rights to the songs will be purchased unlike a certain song about a red-nosed reindeer and some down home backwoods bears, *ahem*. Anyhow Brer Fox and Bear will be seen frozen in a block of ice, the grinning crocodile chiseling the ice away, and Brer Rabbit seen at the end opening presents as he watches the real Santa fly away.
So, what do you think??

I meant a freak blizzard like at Blizzard Beach in WDW. To clarify things Tony Baxter claims that Critter Country (the old one with the Country Bears and Crocodile Mercantile) is set in the backwoods swamps south of New Orleans and that the land isn't an extension of Frontierland, but an extension of New Orleans Square, a dixieland of nature's own design he called it.

It could work since Disney has made it work with the Haunted Mansion Holiday (in the graveyard there's snow, and it takes place in the south!)

I'll post a detailed ridethrough later on but here is what the show would be like, the mountain would be covered in snow, and all the critter houses on the outside would be decorated with candles and wreaths and such. In the How Do You Do scene the pumpkin snowman would be a real snowman and all the geese would be wearing winter coats and singing "Sleigh Ride," we then see Brer Fox dressed as an elf hoisting Brer Bear who is dressed as Santa Claus over a false chimney. We then see Brer Rabbit hanging up his stocking outside of the briar patch while Brer Turtle will temporarily disappear for the season. Brer Rabbit on the handcar would be replaced with Brer Fox and Brer Bear on a sled, ready to capture Brer Rabbit, while the hitchhiking gator appears also in a hunter's uniform holding a gun and singing along next to the Christmas dinner he has made out. We then see Brer Rabbit watching in awe as he sees what he thinks to be Santa (Brer Bear) stuck in some bushes. We then fall down the drop and land in the bee nest where we find the bees humming "Deck the Halls" while their hives alternate between green, red, blue, and purple colors. Santa bear appears up ahead squalling in pain from a bee hive on his nose as he tries to hand an anxious Brer Rabbit a Christmas present which is obviously a rabbit trap wrapped up in colorful paper. We then proceed through the laughin' place where all the critters sing "Deck the Halls" as they hang tinsel and make Christmas trees throughout the eerie caverns. Brer Rabbit then appears up ahead captured by his own present, Brer Fox behind him laughing. The Burrow's Lament scene hasn't changed much, only the two mothers where winter coats as they sing a depressing version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town. The vultures (my favorite characters in that ride) appear above us now donning black Santa hats, asking us what we want for Christmas and what we're going to GET for Christmas. Brer Rabbit then appears up ahead roasting over a fire as the shadow of Brer Fox watches nearby. The little rabbit begs that the villains don't throw him into the frozen lake, but of course they do and thus we plunge down the final drop and into the finale. All the critters remain the same as always only they decorate Christmas trees, the porcupine drums on a Christmas present rather than a turtle, and the riverboat is decorated in candles, wreathes, and garland. Brer Fox and Brer Bear appear up ahead, frozen in a block of ice as the same grinning gator appears chiseling them out for his own holiday dinner. Brer Rabbit appears at the end singing as he enjoys his newfound gifts from the real Santa whom is seen flying away, wishing us a Merry Christmas, to all, and to all a goodnight.

Heh MEW, do you think the Vultures should be replaced with newer animatronics?

You mean like more advanced animatronics? Probably not, I love watching the originals the most, if you have seen the America Sings video, you will know why. All they need back are their top hats, they have been bald lately. These are the animatronics that need to be replaced and or updated:

Brer Rabbit
Brer Fox
Brer Turtle
Burrow's Lament Rabbit
All of the critters on the riverboat that sway, they need to sway a little more
Professor Barnaby Owl

I LOVE this idea! This is the best idea for a holiday overlay, right up there with the Halloween BTMRR!

This is a great idea. I love it.

I have an idea what could be the lyrics of the song that is going to be sung where the swaying riverboat and animals are. It's just something I just came up this second. However, it's not the whole thing. Sing it along like "Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah", beginning at the melody of "Oh, Mr. Bluebird on my shoulder..."

"Brer Fox has learned his lesson that he can't outsmart Brer Rabbit. Now, he's being the croc's dinner. Oh, zip-a-dee-do-dah, zip-a-dee-day. A wonderful season. A wonderful time."

After "time", Christmas bells jingle to give off the Christmas feeling.

This idea is a bit stupid, I guess, but I thought of it all in an instant.

Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon,
Sesshomaru-sama
