Default So You Want to be an Imagineer Season 2 Project 1

Ok guys, first off thank you for the huge turn-out in terms of sign ups. Even if you didn't offically sign up in the thread, you're still welcome to submit a project. It's worth noting however that this project you'll HAVE to turn in, ON THE DUE DATE, to be a part of season 2. It's basically the project that will sepperate those who put their names in but have no intentions of playing and those serious about the game. Nobody who submits a project will be eliminated, but if you don't, you are out, no questions asked. It's not a very hard project, so you really shouldn't have that much trouble. As for who offically signed up, I'll get you guys a full list tomorrow when I have time to look over the thread.

So, enough of me babbling about rules and such, let's get to the projects themselves.

The project you guys will have to complete is this. You must redecorate a castle of your choice for a holiday season or special event. The holiday season could be a Christmas castle or Halloween castle, a special event could be a park's aniversary or just any random thing. Images are not required, but are extra credit (See grading scale).

Requirements
-You MUST redecorate a castle
-You MUST theme it to a holiday or special event
-You MUST explain the construction and deconstruction of the decorations
-The decorations MUST be on the castle for at least a month
-You MUST describe the deccorations in detail

Grading scale
Following directions /10 (2 points for each MUST)
Redecoration theme /5
Realism /5
Detail /5
Creativity /5

EXTRA CREDIT
Images: You can reccieve up to 5 points extra credit for submitting images of your redecorated castle, 1 point for each image (Limit five images)

Overall /30

The due date is Wednesday, November 14th

I have one question? Does it have to be a castle or can it be any park icon.

The thing is, we really don't have anything to post unless it's some type of bump in the thread, so nobody's really gonna post here until what, wednsday?

Ok, then you guys answered my question, you are working hard, not blowing it off. You see, it's just usually we get more questions than just two, so I was getting kind of worried

Well, I hope you guys are just having no problems whatsoever, which never happens in this game. I'll have to talk to lighttech to see what to do if we don't get any projects in

Is it ok if I post it tomorrow? I have too much homework on my hands right now so can't get it up today. I finished the project though.

[FONT="Courier New"]Ok, I hope this isn't too late. Here's my idea:
The Cinderella Castle Tree

Ok, so my idea is for Christmas time, and it would involve having the castle be covered with ever green branches, which would be placed into the castle the same way the 50th statues were. The branches would correspond wih the forced perspective of the rest of the castle and on top of the castle, a star would be placed. Now because this would be a Christmas tree, there would have to be decorations. So, my idea was to have large, circular, holiday ornaments placed around the castle, with smaller ones being on top and larger ones being on the bottom. They would be placed onto pully systems which raise and lower them at certain times throughout the day. Also, during the night hours, the crystal ornaments would have projected images appear from them from a small projector placed inside the ornament. Now, the construction of this layover would obviously take a while, perhaps a month, at most? I would guess that the ornaments and the branches would be put on from bottom to top, with the brances and ornaments being nailed into the castle. Also, in the area directly infront of the castle, I thought it would be cool if giant presents could be placed there, on the stage, and even in the lake surrounding the castle. I would estimate that he decorations would be up from November 15th until January 15th, however, only the crystal balls will come down on January 15th, and the tree branches, with snow added every day, will remain up until March 15th

So there it is. Any questions?

Santa’s Christmas Castle and Workshop
Location- The Magic Kingdom in Disney World
Castle Theme- Christmas

Santa’s Christmas Castle is a redecoration of Cinderella Castle. There are many changes including new colors and banners. The castle will remain under this theme from December 1st to January 15th. The castle’s major decorations such as replacement of the turrets will be inserted by cranes. The minor decorations like the red and green ribbons will be added by hand once a construction worker can be lifted up to that height. The construction of the castle will last about three days .The deconstruction of the castle will only take 2-3 days. The small lake across from the castle will be completely frozen taking the new name of Alice’s Winter Wonder Land. Guests will be charged 10$ per person for rentals of ice skates. It will also grant them admission to Mickey’s Skating Ring. Here guests will be able to skate around a giant Christmas tree. Across the skating ring is a hot chocolate stand that serves hot beverages such as tea, hot chocolate, and eggnog. The skating ring is surrounded by dozens of gleaming Christmas lights. Guests can hear familiar Christmas carols and a few other Disney songs while skating. Each and every tree surrounding the castle is covered in what looks to be white snow.

Castle Exterior- The entire front of the castle is painted completely green, white, red, and gold. Each turret is striped with long threads of white and red making them candy-cane-colored. Although not visible during daylight hour, there are strands of lights places all around the castle’s many turrets and stone walls. At around 6 o’clock every night, the entire castle is illuminated with colorful lights .Cleverly hidden on the surface of the turrets are small “snow machines”. Large fans placed under the machines push fluffy white material outward covering the entire castle in what looks to be actual snow. The banners surrounding the castle are now colored green and red. A large banner placed on the side of the castle reads: “Merry Christmas to all”. Standing right beside the castle is a gigantic sleigh with a Mickey Mouse model sitting on the left seat. Here, guests of all ages may sit on the display sleigh and take pictures. A giant throne will be placed in front of the castle’s entrance. Behind the throne is a gigantic bag full of Christmas presents. A line is formed and children between the ages of 3 and 11 are able to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. Each window on the castle is covered with extra snow to add on the effect of an enchanted castle.

Castle Interior-Not only does the outside of the castle change, but the inside as well. The lucky family that is chosen to stay in the Cinderella Castle suite is in for a big surprise. During the Christmas period, visitors to the suite will experience Christmas as they’ve never experienced it before. Just before guests enter one of the bedrooms, they will spot a marvelous Christmas tree that almost reaches the ceiling. The tree is covered in special Disney ornaments. Each window from the suite is covered in snow. Hanging from the walls are stockings and Christmas wreaths. The bed sheets in every room are now colored green and red. The pillars in the rooms are now covered in long slender strings of bright red, green, and gold. The mosaics are temporarily changed into a Christmas winter wonder land theme. In one of the bathrooms, there are three mosaics. The middle now shows Mickey and his friends having a snowball fight. The mosaic on the left shows Donald and Daisy making a large snowman. The mosaic on the right shows Mickey riding on a sleigh pulled by Pluto. Standing by the fireplace are two particularly large toy nutcracker soldiers. The occupants of the suite will find a great surprise in the morning when they find their Christmas tree surrounded by dozens of Christmas presents. Each guest will also take home a bag of Christmas cookies and a Disney Christmas mug.

Santa’s Nightmare before Christmas- Santa’s Nightmare before Christmas is a presentation featuring characters from the Nightmare before Christmas and a few other Disney characters. The show takes place 20 minutes before closing hour. Therefore, Fantasyland will be closed due to safety regulations.

Show Storyline- Santa and Mickey are planning a Christmas party right outside Santa’s castle. The party, however, is crashed as soon as Jack Skellington and his friends from Halloween Town discover their plans for the holiday. Jack becomes puzzled at how there are no deadly items or creatures running about. He then sends the members of Halloween Town to “fix things up a bit” and kidnap Santa Claus, or as they like to call him, “Sandy Claws”. It’s up to Mickey to stop Jack and his friends from ruining Christmas and save Santa from Ooogie Boogie.

Santa’s Workshop- Santa’s workshop is located directly across from the castle. Here, guests can choose over a variety of Christmas items such as custom-made-cookies, snow globes, and a “Make Your Own Ginger-Bread Disney Castle kit”. The store is actually an average-sized stand. A cast-member stands behind the counter and fulfills the orders of the many visitors waiting in line.

Overall, Santa’s Christmas Castle combines the fun of Christmas with a little Disney magic thrown in on the side. The castle will look just as dazzling as any other Disney castle around the world. Visitors will find the decorations and colorful lights pleasant which will only make their day at the Magic Kingdom more enjoyable.
