Default Disney's Night of Horrors (DCA)

Disney’s Night of Horrors at Disney’s California Adventure Park during Disney’s Halloween Time Celebration

Well, I was thinking today, why not change up the Halloween celebration a little when all the renovations are done at DCA. Why not move Disney’s Trick-or-Treat party to Disneyland, and have, well, a “scarier” party for the adult and teen groups of the family. Isn’t that who DCA was built for in the first place? Adults and teens? Anyways, here’s an in-depth look at the celebration I would like to see happen at DCA (all created entirely by myself).

“Evil forces have awakened from their long slumber… and this story is now, ‘awakening’ to life.”

Background: When Disney’s California Adventure was built in 2001, Imagineers did not realize that they built a vacation destination on the grounds of an ancient burial site used by an extinct Native American tribe, not yet known to current civilization. They did not come to realize that this site has laid there for thousands of years, until renovations began in 2008, as part of the California Adventure remodeling. Two construction crew members, working to create a Walt Disney Plaza, stumbled upon a foreboding, unsurpassed gravesite, while digging to rig supports for the new replica of the Carthay Circle Theater. However, Imagineers were not the only ones to discover this gravesite, and all of it’s evil powers. Malificent, the wicked, hostile Disney witch, knew of these proficient mystical powers, long before any Imagineer discovered them. And during this time, she, as well as numerous other Disney Villains, were planning a hostile take over of the park, a takeover that may only last during the Halloween season, because of other, overpowering joyous seasons during the year. As many could imagine, this did not end with a “happily ever after.” In order for you to finish and find out more to this story, you must visit the park yourself, for evil forces have awakened, and the reign of Dreams Come True may be vanquished, forever.

New Experiences (by land/area)

Disney Villain Plaza (Walt Disney Plaza)
Because the ancient burial sites were found in this area, it only seems fit that the villains of Disney would make this there home headquarters. Everything has changed for the worse. Cast Members have been taken hostage; and ghosts, ghouls, and pumpkin men now run the park. The buildings of Walt Disney Plaza have transformed into eerie sculptures filled with vines and cobwebs. The path lamps have burnt out and only those of the faint moon light appear. The Carthay Circle Theater has also transformed, into Villain Central; where guests may greet these supernatural crooks.

Entertainment
Disney’s Villains on Parade: A new parade filled with all the Disney Villains you can imagine; and some you might not know. This parade consists of numerous themed floats. The first is not actually a float themed to a Disney villain. This float is actually a movable temple, created by the ancient Americans who now possess the park on Halloween. The next floats are in order as they appear: Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Jafar (Aladdin), Captain Hook (Peter Pan), Captain Barbossa and/or Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean), Scar (The Lion King), Shan-Yu (Mulan), Hades (Hercules), and the White Witch (The Chronicles of Narnia).

California ScreamTime: Local bands compete in a ghoulish music playoff in the night.

Character Meet & Greets:
- Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Max, Donald, Daisy, and Pluto
- Maleficent, Sleeping Beauty, Three Fairies
- Cinderella, Prince Charming
- Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy, Captain Hook
- Captain Barbossa, Captain Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann, Captain Sao Feng
- The White Witch
- Snow White, 7 Dwarfs, The Queen

A Haunting State (The Golden State District)
Formerly known as the Golden State, Maleficent turned this beautiful, rugged, vast landscape into a ghoulish land filled with frights all throughout the night. In order to confuse guests and lure them into their appending doom, Maleficent and her evil minions created a number of distinct mazes, filled with freakish surprises throughout every turn. This land sure isn’t golden anymore…

Red Blood Challenge Trail: This recreational area is no longer safe. Spirits, phantoms, ghosts, and demons have plagued this magical trail into a maze filled with bloody delight everywhere you turn.

Grizzly Peak National Fright Park: Urban legend states that every October, the Great Spirit of the Grizzly awakens with only one thing in mind, turn everything against mankind. The lavish forests have suddenly turned to ruin, the rapids are stronger, and the mountain calls to those who seek life after death… but it is not all as it seems…

Soarin’ Over California “Deathly Hollows”: Maleficent had the an eerie premonition to take guests on a journey through their darkest nightmares. Everything starts out normal… inside an abandoned flight hanger. Guests take their seats and woosh!, there off to see California. Except, there’s a problem. Everything suddenly darkens and those listening closely may hear evil cheers, laughter, and squeals. Then, all of a sudden, instead of flying over the Napa Orange Groves, your flying through a possessed, dark, and eerie forest plagued with demons, ghosts, and the like. Not all journey’s have a “happily ever after.”

Boardwalk of Fears (Paradise Pier)
The evil sorceress Maleficent has turned every ride against you in the land now known has, the Boardwalk of Fears.

California Screamin’: RESTRUNG: For an all-new twist on a DCA classic, California Screamin’ has been “updated” with an-all new, ghostly soundtrack that is synchronized to every inverted turn, hill, loop, and drop. New lighting effects are also evident on the exterior.

I don’t have that much time to say the rest (yet), but I just thought this could be an excellent idea… Disney may actually frighten somebody! J Anyways, if anyone else would like to add, take away, or expand on an idea is welcome to. I would love to hear your ideas and your comments/suggestions on mine!

Thanks,
DFF

Dude.........................I love it! This sounds like real good competition for Knott's Scary Farm and Halloween Horror Nights, and this can be an alternative for Disneyland's Halloween as well. I have a few ideas though, turn the Animation Studio into a haunted house walkthrough, keep Monsters Inc. (I don't know why), contact monkey4057 and ask if you could use his Nightmare Before Christmas overlay for Muppet*Vision 3D, and leave the Tower of Terror as is. As for a bug's land, turn it into giant bugs take over land. You can have like a Heimlich's Chew Chew Train with giant spiders along the way. And if the Country Bears ever get built here, they can get a Halloween show!

I can imagine Big Al singing. "There's blood on the table. Blood on the chairs. No one's listening, 'cause they're all dead." Lol. Well, "Blood on the Saddle" needs to be updated for the Halloween show. Lol.

It's a great idea. I'm loving it.

Maybe for The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror, the ride experience can be more like its cousin in Disney's Hollywood Studios. The building will have a mind of its own and you will rise and fall as many times as the hotel wants. I think it could be only during October because it's a special occasion.

Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon,
Sesshomaru-sama

As for the overall idea, I'm afraid the only idea I liked was the Screamin' one. But the NBC show would be a good choice. Look for an updated version in its thread in sometime (specific date unknown).

You know now that I think about it, I wouldn't use blood in the redwood creek challenge trail, besides there are so many rumors that it is going to closedown in a few years.

Yeah, maybe the blood is a bit overboard. However, this is a teen/adult only event. But your right, it's still Disney. What else could we do instead with that area? (Redwood Creek)

Maybe like a haunted gold mine walkthrough with undead miners and such?

I have another idea, a classic spook house at the Boardwalk of Fears, only this time the ghosts, ghouls, and monsters inside of it are real and well, hungry...

I have come up with a name for this haunted gold mine, the Grizzly Mountains Mining Company, and if you don't mind I will work on it and post a walkthrough.

Not at all. The Disneyland Resort was built so everyone could have fun together. I'm sorry, but I guess I'm against the "teen and adult only" idea- besides, you can get that anywhere else.

Other than that, those are some nice ideas!

Maybe that's what DCA needs, a scary Halloween overlay as it seems to be attracting crowds to HKDL, another lonely Disney park.

But they should make it like Mickey's Trick or Treat Party at WDW, like it's an afterhour party at the park.
