Default Disney's Hollywood Studios Refurbishment Brainstorming

This is the third in a series of Imagineering brainstorm threads for WDW's theme parks (after the Magic Kingdom and Epcot). This thread is for the next park, Disney's Hollywood Studios. So start pouring in ideas! This is open to anyone! Come on in, we enjoy help!

First and foremost, the Indiana Jones stunt show is going to get the ol' heave-ho, not just because of the Lights Motors Action stunt show across the park, but also simply because it's getting quite outdated. In it's place will be another Indiana Jones Adventure ride (it was a toss-up between putting here or at the Magic Kingdom, but I decided here since they have something Indy-related anyway).

Secondly, the Great Movie Ride will be updated to feature additional movies. More on that later.

Thirdly, a new water thrill ride will be added the likes of which could potentially give Splash Mountain a run for its money.

And last but not least, there will finally be something that other things at WDW has but this one does not: a Monorail station at the entrance to the park! It will probably go to a new Monorail station linking this one and the one between the TTC and Epcot.

So what do you think so far? Let's hear your ideas, huh?

But have you been on IJA before? IJA (The Indiana Jones Adventure) is one of the most thrilling thrill rides ever created (and also the most advanced)!

Sorry if I affended you in any way.

So I've been writing a Dream Along with Mickey Style show for the Studios.....the story is basically Mickey and the Gang are tryin to make a move. They don't know what to make it about. Minnie says love story, donald says adventure, and goofy says comidey. Each genre gets a "song" or portion of the show. Then a few villians come and crash the party, and Mickey and the gang get rid of them. I'm in the process of writing the script and the songs. If you have any ideas, post!

I want to announce now what the water thrill ride will be. Sorry, but Catastrophe Canyon just can't do justice here. It is actually the exact same ride that CostaFreak thought of for the Imagineering Contest, something I feel would give Sea World Orlando's Journey To Atlantis or even WDW's Magic Kingdom's own Splash Mountain a run for their respective money. It is simply called: "FANTASIA: THE RIDE"!

But like I said, this is CostaFreak's idea, not mine. I'm just posting it here, because I feel that they need to do a thrill ride themed to one of Walt Disney's finest films. Anyway, here's the link to that ride's verbal tour, complete with visuals of the location and even a rough sketch of the ride track: http://www.visionsfantastic.com/foru...06-post68.html.

Tell me what you think.

Assuming you meant the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular?

Then sorry, but no matter how great WDI could make it, a KP stunt show would never outdo it. Turning a cartoon character into a live action show, where the actors would be playing intense roles just wouldn't work. No matter how great the sets appeared to be like the actors themselves couldn't live up to it. Maybe the actual acting, but the overall look of the character would never work.

Oh, but for ideas about the park itself...

- remove the hat/gift shop, and make Hollywood Blvd. appear to be Hollywood Blvd. again.

-Update the Great Movie Ride like said above. Not just the ride, but a major refurb, incl. the queue, pre-show elements, etc.
-Update Animation Courtyard.

-I think Sunset Blvd. could be extended a bit, shorten the length of the walk to Fantasmic! and convert that into an extension of Sunset.

-Oh, and change the name back to MGM

Well, I wasn't planning on having a Kim Possible show there anyway. I was thinking of replacing the Indy stunt show with a thinly-revised version of the Indiana Jones ride at both Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. I mean, come on; I think it's a no-brainer to put a ride like this into the Studios.

Well, since the hat has become the new emblem of the Studios now, apparently, I say we just move it to another area of the park, so that yes, it doesn't obscure the view of the Chinese Theater anymore.

As for re-renaming it Disney-MGM Studios, I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that's going to be quite hard now, in this day and age here. But you know something that would make sense? Disney Studios Florida. Some sources (mainly CD-Rom-based) call it that, so why not?

As for the Great Movie Ride, I will explain how I would update it next time. But this will only apply to the ride itself. How could/would we redo the queue?

^As for the name change it was a joke, haha. I know that it won't be changed, and I'd rather it just be The Walt Disney Studios, or something of the sort.

I for one would love to have an IJA or Temple of Peril-based ride, whether it be in MK or DHS, yet Jeanylaser said to replace the IJ show with a KP show, and all I did was explain how that couldn't work.

Well, I really don't like the idea of a KP show at all. If it had to go anywhere, it should be someplace in Epcot, where they at least have something related to KP already.

Another thing I wanted to redo in some way was Star Tours.

With all the rumors floating around about Star Tours 2.0 and the Endor trip being replaced by other planets, I've been thinking of how to do this win-win style. I like the idea of keeping things fresh here, but I was thinking that with six simulators here, why not have six different trips at once, one trip per simulator, with a trip to a different planet on each one? This way, the situation is win-win. The beauty of this update is that whenever you are about to go to a simulator, you may have a different one, meaning that you never know which simulator you're going to ride (unless you've been on them all thousands of times).
