Exclamation Critter Country, Splash Mountain, and Country Bears at DLP, Open Brainstorming

I have posted a thread about this before (like my Disneyland Australia thread) and no one has seemed to respond to it so here is a new thread where anyone can come on in and help come up with ideas for DLP's newest land, Critter Country. I will take care of Splash Mountain and the rest of you can come in and help if you would like! :)

Maybe you could put a French-language version of It's Tough To Be a Bug here? Anyway, I can't wait to see DLP's Splash Mountain. You could also revive the Indian Canoes (that's what they were called when they were at DLP) and rename it, like, say, Beaver Bros. Explorer Canoes.

I think It's Tough to be a Bug in French will work, I also plan on the Beaver Bros. Explorer Canoes and Country Bear Playhouse to be added. The Country Bear Playhouse will play French/English versions of the Country Bear Jamboree, Country Bear Vacation Hoedown, and the Country Bear Christmas Special.

I just watched Song of the South on YouTube so I have a really good reference to the attraction now.

Ok here is my new and improved rendition of DLP's Splash Mountain with the added character of Brer Wolf who was an assistant to Brer Fox and Brer Bear in the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Reading Collection. To begin with the exterior of the mountain will resemble WDW's, the logs will be two to a row with rows of five, and the drop will be similar to TDL to keep DLP guests comfortable in the freezing winter monthes. The train station will be moved to the Boot Hill exit at Phantom Manor and here is how the attraction's music will work:

How Do You Do?- Country-western style and sung in French
Everybody's Got a Laughin' Place- Orchestration sung in English and French
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah- Country-western outdoors, orchestration indoors, sung in English and French

P.S.- Big Disney Fan I used some of your abandoned mine shaft theming in your rendition for the Laughin Place scene.

Anyhow so our trip begins in an old barnhouse where a sign reading, Splash Mountain hangs, appearing
to be made out of crystal blue water. We enter the barn and pass various sights such as wooden
plaques that are direct quotes from Uncle Remus, portraits of various characters like Brer Rabbit,
Brer Bear, Brer Wolf, Brer Fox, and Brer Frog, and old fishing poles and musical instruments littered
around. After wandering through the queue, we come to the load area which is housed in a large dingy
cavern. Giant roots grow above our heads as we board our logs which seat two to rows of five. After
boarding we take off lightly and turn a corner into an eerie cavern. Brer Frog appears to the left
of us rocking back and forth on a rocking chair telling the tale of Brer Rabbit to four young
porcupines that look at each other in awe. "One of these days that Brer Rabbit is going to become a
rabbit stew for those no good hoodlums, Brer Fox, Brer Bear, and Brer Wolf! If you ask me he's really
in for it this time!" That is the dialogue Brer Frog speaks but of course he says it in French
rather than the traditional English. The country-western rendition of "How Do You Do" begins playing
as we start climbing the first lift hill which is housed in a cavern. As we climb the hill we pass
several small owls that pop up and down from the safety of their holes which line the cavern walls.
The owls hoot in tune to "How Do You Do," as they bob up and down.

As we let go of the lift hill we turn and drop down Slippin' Falls into a colorful bayou where we see Brer Rabbit, Brer Turtle, and Mr. Blue Bird outside of Brer Rabbit's boarded up briar patch home as the critter sings his plans and woes to Brer Turtle and Mr. Blue Bird who look at each other in slight confusion. Across the way Brer Fox is seen on Brer Wolf's shoulders, who stands on Brer Bear's shoulders, all three of them smiling and glad to see that Brer Rabbit is running away from home. The logs then drift into a swamp dubbed "The Ole' Fishin' Hole," which is overlooked by a cloud-ridden blue sky where several geese and bullfrogs are seen fishing, reeling in each other's hats, old shoes, skeletal fish, and nothing at all, all of them singing "How Do You Do?" The logs then pass under a tree where three singing possums hang upside down. A roadrunner appears on the shore also singing. A sign points to "Critter Village" where the logs pass the various homes of critters. It is here where to young rabbits sing and sweep their front porch, a skunk blows into a cornjug outside of his home which is embedded into a tree, a hound dog plays a guitar in a docked rowboat, and a smiling alligator fishes with sleeping Brer Frog on his back, as fish are seen jumping in the water. The logs then pass by Brer Bear who tips his hat to us from the confinement of a rope rabbit trap, complete with a warning bell. Brer Fox stands nearby holding an axe and yelling at the bear telling him to come down and quit making a fool of himself. Brer Bear just laughs as Brer Wolf appears wobbling around nearby holding a giant black cauldron that hosts a huge pile of axes, guns, butterfly nets, knives, lanterns, fishing poles, carrots, bee hives, bones, and forks, all topped by a cookbook titled, "How to Cook Rabbit." Brer Rabbit rides by on a railroad trestle across the way, riding in a mine car and taunting the villains. The logs then dip down a tiny drop and pass by a smiling moose before passing a group of hitchiking critters that consist of an alligator, a bald eagle (a la America Sings' Sam), an Owl (a la America Sings' Ollie), a rat, and a coyote, all of them singing "Take Me Along." The logs then turn past Brer Rabbit who is seen rolling in the bushes laughing as Brer Fox and Brer Wolf are seen trying to push Brer Bear's rear through a hole above us. "Everybody's Got A Laughin' Place Begins as Brer Bear exclaims, "I don't see no laughin' place, just bees!" The logs then plunge down into inky darkness as the villains and Brer Rabbit are heard screaming in horror (and laughter). Thousands of bee hives appear encircled by thousands of swarming bees that hum the song. Brer Bear appears shortly afterwards wobbling around with a bee hive on his nose. Brer Wolf appears next to him also wobbling around with a bee hive on his head. Brer Rabbit laughs and rolls around in glee, unknowing of Brer Fox who stands behind him with an empty bee hive raised above his head. The logs then pass by a hound dog and moose spinning around in a rowboat, as well as Brer Frog eating honey from a broken hive, a black bear stuck in honey and smiling, and a Brer Turtle and a weasel that ride up and down on tiny colorful geysers, all of them singing. The logs then pass a beautiful female swan reclining on a giant mushroom as two storks balancing on giant diamonds stand on each side of her. A waterfall appears to the left reflecting the faces of laughing critters as the music continues. Suddenly a mine cart home to two female cats, a fox, and a coyote rides by quickly on a track as the riders continue to sing. Up ahead on the right we see a short and stout brown bear blowing into a tuba, a turkey singing and playing a turtleshell guitar, a wiener dog playing the washboard with his tail, and a cougar playing a banjo, all of them singing. Suddenly the music turns into the "Burrow's Lament" as the logs pass by Brer Fox who holds Brer Rabbit inside a honey comb. Brer Rabbit begs for mercy but Brer Fox want hear it he just brags about how he captured the poor little critter. The logs then drift through a dark cavern full of red eyed creatures watching from the eerie darkness. Up ahead we see Ma Rabbit who sings the "Burrow's Lament" warning her young rabbits never to visit the laughing place, as does Ma Turtle who also warns her children of the danger. The logs then pass under the undertaker-like vultures that taunt us as the logs prepare for the final drop. To the right Brer Bear (with a red nose) and Brer Wolf appear sitting at a checkered picnic table with forks and knives in each hand as they wait anxiously to eat Brer Rabbit. As the logs get closer to the main drop, Brer Rabbit tied to a spit appears begging Brer Fox to not throw him into the briar patch appears as the logs spill down the final drop and into the briar patch straight into the Rivers of the Far West. To be continued.........

Your Splash Mountain is looking good thus far, but can we use the log raft designed I thought up for DLA's SM? It's actually based on an older ride design from the ride's early development, in which the logs weren't just a simple log, but a bunch of logs tied together like rafts.

Sure thing, I am redoing my whole outlook on the new land since we have limited space over there. So I was thinking the attractions would be:

1. Splash Mountain
2. Critter Country Hoedown (I will post more on this later :) )
3. Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
4. Beaver Bros. Explorer Canoes
5. It's Tough to be a Bug

Will the two vultures perched on the tree branch in Splash Mountain have the long stovepipe hats on, like they do in Florida?

Yes they will it makes them more undertakerish. I have also come up with a new attraction for Disneyland's Critter Country which will call for the removal of the Hungry Bear's lower level. So here it is:
Mickey Mouse Hoedown

As we are led to our log seats, we see a small dark green curtain in the center of the room,
a painting of Mickey's face in the center of it. As the doors to the theater shut, we hear
crickets chirping, frogs croaking, and bats screeching through the eerie darkness. An owl
hoots as a wolf is heard howling to the full moon which rises above the theater. The curtain
thus opens to show Mickey and Goofy dressed in fishing gear as they roast marshmallows over
a roaring campfire, their small tent nearby. Goofy looks around frightened as the wolf lets
out another howl.

Goofy: Hey Mickey, what was that?

Mickey: That was a wolf Goofy.

Goofy: A WOLF? I wanna go home!

Mickey: Calm down Goofy, why wolves are our friends!

Goofy: They are?

Mickey: Yep! As a matter of fact, all animals are our friends.

Goofy: Well garsh I never knew that!

Mickey: Without our animal friends, there would be no world for us to live in! If there were
no flies there would be no frogs, and if there were no frogs, there would be no alligators!
See Goofy, we coexist with all creatures, we live in a grand circle of life that is forever
changing. As a matter of fact with a little magic I can take you all on a journey through
these woods, so you yourselves can witness the circle of life!

Goofy: Sounds great Mickey, let's go!

Mickey: Alrighty then we're off! (Blackout. Mickey thus sings in the tune of "Yankee Doodle"
as we prepare for the first number)

Let's head out to the American woods
Where the bears and billygoats play.
We'll ride there on a riverboat
And stay around a day.

Let's sing with a crocodile
And maybe even a raccoon.
And if we're real lucky
We'll howl with a wolf at the moon! (A instrumental of "Yankee Doodle" plays as a spotlight
hits a turtle dressed as a fisherman, a bear dressed as a hunter, and a goose dressed as an
old farmer)

Three Critters: Oh, I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away
Dixieland.

Goose: I gotta gal and you got none.

Bear: Little Liza Jane.

Turtle: I gotta go and you gotta run.

All three: Little Liza Jane.

Bear: Camptown races sing this song.

Goose: Doo-dah.

Turtle: Doo-dah.

Bear: Camptown racetrack five miles long.

All three: Oh the doo-dah days. (The spotlight moves over to a dog dressed like a cowboy,
that rests upon a Big Thunder Mountain-style peak, playing a guitar)

Dog: Oh, give me a land
Where the bright diamond sand
Flows leisurely down the stream
Where the graceful white swan
Goes glidin' along
Like a maid in a heavenly dream.
Home, home on the range. (coyote howls off in the distance)
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudly all day. (A light shines on a railroad trestle where we see a
bunny and a coyote sitting in a mine car, rolling along the tracks slowly)

Coyote: I've been workin' on the railroad
All the live long day.

Bunny: Iv'e been workin' on the railroad
Just to pass the time away. (The car disappears behind a rock but then quickly speeds back
as a train is heard coming)

Chorus: Here she comes,
Look at 'er roll
There she goes
Keep it cool
Watch 'er fly
Look at 'er sail
Let 'er by, by, by
The Fireball Mail

(The cart is heard crashing and exploding as the critters roll behind another rock. The same
spotlight quickly moves over to Mickey and Goofy who appear fishing far from their original
spot)

Mickey: And now...the Swamp Boys! (Mickey and Goofy stay as a stage near them rises to show
a jug band consisting of an alligator banging on an upside down washtub with bones, a smiling
wiener dog wagging his tail up and down on a washboard, a fox on the banjo, and a moose on
the corn jug)

Swamp Boys: Oh, I went down south
For to see my Sal
Singing polly wolly doodle all the day
My Sally is a spunky gal
Singing polly wolly doodle all the day
Fare thee well
Fare thee well
Fare thee well my fairy fay
I'm off to Louisiana for to see my Suzy-anna
Singing polly wolly doodle all the day. (The Swamp Boys lower back down)

Mickey: And now a song of survival, sung by the three little pigs! (A light shines on the
interior of the pigs' brick house with Practical on the piano, Fiddler on the fiddle, and
Piper on the accordian)

Three Pigs: Who's afraid of the big bad wolf
Big bad wolf, big bad wolf?
Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?
Tra la la la la (Their stage blackens as Goofy)

Goofy: Please welcome Kermit, the Frog! (Kermit appears on a lilly pad holding a banjo, not
too far from Mickey's camp)

Kermit: It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold...
or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ord'nary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a mountain,
or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be. (Blackens on both Mickey, Goofy, and Kermit. A giant
crocodile dressed as a cowboy rises from a swamp surrounded by a frightened toad, a scared
raccoon, and a fishing possum)

Toad: Never smile at a crocodile
No, you can't get friendly with a crocodile

Possum: Don't be taken in by his welcome grin
He's imagining how well you'd fit within his skin

Raccoon: Never smile at a crocodile
Never tip your hat and stop to talk a while

All three: Never run, walk away, say good-night, not good-day
Clear the aisle but never smile at Mister Crocodile

Crocodile: You better believe it. (Their lights go out as an electric guitar is heard being
strummed. A light goes to the very northwestern top of the theater, showing a blue stork,
with long blonde hair, sunglasses, a pink pearl necklace, and an electric guitar attached to
a rope with snow-capped mountains behind him)

Stork: (Singing like Elvis Presley) Are you feelin' rocky, have you lost all hope?
Down in the dumps, at the end of your rope.
I know it ain't easy, it's an uphill climb.
Trust me darling put your hand in mine.
We can make it to the top.
We can make a mountain rock.
We never said we'd take you towards the clouds above.
Coverin' your heart with a mountain of love.
It's a long way down, baby.
Straight to the top where the air gets thin,
comes an avalanche where the kisses begin.
At my peak I'm gonna give you a thrill,
'cause after me baby it's all downhill.
We can make it to the top.
We can make a mountain rock.
We can make it to the top. (He yodels the rest as his corner blackens, a mandolin strum fills
the air as we see a donkey on its hind legs appear in between two cacti overlooking a desert)

Donkey: Mama don't whup little Buford
Mama don't pound on his head
Mama don't whup little Buford
I think you should shoot him instead. (A black bear in a Mexican vest and sombrero ridden with
a bullet hole appears sitting on an upside down mine car pointing at his hat)

Bear: (Sings with a Spanish accent) Who shot that hole in my sombrero?
Who put that bullet through my hat?
Who shot that hole in my sombrero?
Who would do a terrible thing like that?
I can't figger
Who'd pull that trigger.
(Speaks) You don't reckon my wife could be back in town? (Blackout, light to a beautiful
female flamingo in a golden cage, a hungry cougar in a tuxedo nearby)

Flamingo: She's only a bird in a gilded cage.

Cougar: (In Irish tenor) A beautiful sight to see.

Flamingo: You may think she is happy and free from care.

Cougar: She's not, though she seems to be. (Blackout. Lights go to a large bald eagle, very
remniscient of Sam from America Sings who looks up in the sky at one glittering star)

Sam: When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires will come to you

If your heart is in your dreams, no request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star as dreamers do...... (Blackout, lights to Mickey and Goofy in their
original spot. A light piano version of "When You Wish Upon a Star" plays as Mickey and Goofy
converse)

Mickey: See Goofy, the animal kingdom is full of wonder, just like ours'!

Goofy: Garsh Mickey, I would have never known!

Mickey: Well I'm glad you know now Goofy, it has been an honor singing with you. And all of
you folks out there as well, but before we go we have one more song for you guys.

Goofy: Sing along you all know the words! (A dixieland band version of "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah"
blares out as every critter in the show appears for the grand finale, minus the second pair
of Mickey and Goofy)

Entire Cast: Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay,
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day.
Plenty of sunshine headin' my way,
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!

Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder,
It's the truth, it's "actch'll"
Everything is "satisfactch'll."

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay,
Wonderful feeling, what a wonderful...what a wonderful...
Oh what a wonderful day! (Blackout, Mickey's curtain closes and the house lights turn on as
we exit back out into the streets of Critter Country)

OOPS! Wrong thread for the Mickey Mouse Hoedown.

I actually want the Country Bear Jamboree in DLP's Critter Country where they belong as Big Al has been making appearances in Frontierland there for years.......

I will write a new show for the bears as they are my third favorite attraction of all time.

I will also be redoing Splash Mountain as many of its show scenes are found in the three pigs attraction which I also plan to build in Critter Country, and since the Big Bad Wolf is the antagonist of the pigs' ride I will be removing Brer Wolf from Splash Mountain. So here is a new list:

Attractions and Entertainment

1. Splash Mountain
2. Country Bear Jamboree
3. Beaver Bros. Explorer Canoes
4. Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

Shopping

1. Vulture Bros. Gift and Carrion Shop
2. Ursus H. Bear's Wilderness Outpost
3. Wolf's Den
4. Professor Peter Possum's Photographic Art Studio

Dining

1. Ma Rabbit's Kitchen
